Flash Gordon Cuts
The magazines that I read at that time were Starburst, Starlog and Cinefantastique. I believe that this information was in Starburst. I recall it mentioned a disembowelling and some sexy banter between Ming and his daughter which gave their relationship a more "kinky" touch.
Wow! Never heard that. I met Mike Hodges a couple of years ago but it was for an audition and I was itching to ask about Flash but didn't want to blow my chances as it was going well and I didn't want to spoil it by gushing.
When this came out I read that a number of violent scenes and some scenes of a sexual nature were removed post-production. Always wanted to see what they looked like.
I wonder why Brian's commentary is missing from this one?
Just in case anyone is wondering if Brian Blessed is really that mad... he isn't. He's much worse! Actually, he's a sweet, sweet man, but he's totally bonkers. He used to hide an electronic fart machine on his fellow cast and press the button when they were onstage. He also did his Boss Nass thing for a record 3 times during a performance.

The extras are fairly meagre, but none moreso than the US disc. It's a pity that they weren't able to secure the Brian Blessed commentary, but c'est la vie.

GORDON'S ALIVEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I was just going to add that myself, its a great commentary so hopefully those UK specs will have it. I have to say I have a soft spot for this film, it has a certain something about it. Melody Anderson was pretty as a picture. I also love the score by Queen. My dvd will do for now though.
All together now........Hawkmen... DIIIIIIVVE!!!!!!
