This is one of the few remaining Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals to be released on DVD. Not quite up to par with their other shows, but some nice moments here and there. One of the leads is Miyoshi Umeki (who originated the role on Broadway) -- and went on to play "Mrs. Livingston" in TV's "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father" which I STILL hoping will find its way onto DVD!

This release is long overdue, and a treat for fans of the musical everywhere. The old VHS (and LD) was in pan-and-scan, with the natural exception of the famous "I Enjoy Being a Girl" number. So the anamorphic release will be a big improvement.
According to Nancy Kwan's website, she has recently recorded a commentary to be included as a special feature on the DVD. Hopefully, they will have the theatrical trailer to FDS as well, which by the way is available on the excellent R&H documentary DVD "The Sound of Movies".

It finally comes out in DVD format. I've been looking forward to this version. How's about the movie "Nancy goes to Rio"? When will it come out in DVD format?

Very entertaining if not by now extremely dated material.
