Quote: Footloose jumps with spirit, dazzling dance numbers and an electrifying musical score. It portrays the timeless struggle between innocent pleasure and rigid morality, when city-boy Ren McCormick (Kevin Bacon) finds himself in an uptight Midwestern town where dancing has been banned. Ren revolts with best friend Willard (Chris Penn) and the minister's daughter (Lori Singer). A treasury of Top 10 songs-Kenny Loggins "Footloose," Shalamar "Dancing In The Sheets," Deniece Williams "Let's Hear It For The Boy," Bonnie Tyler "Holding Out for A Hero," and the Footloose love theme, "Almost Paradise."

You and I both. This is one of the most overrated eighties films I can think of. The only thing remotely likable is the Kenny Loggins song. Disgusts me to see the remake is using a tasteless new pop version.
The remake is using countrified monstrosities of the major songs from the original. They're no where near Pop.

I wouldn't say defined a generation, but it certainly is one of the films that defines my childhood. (Along with The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles) Can't wait to add this to my Blu-Ray collection.
I feel extremely sorry for the generation this film defined.

Really another edition of this? Just to cash in on the remake. I already own the special edition from a few years ago, will definitely pass. Plus, as someone already mentioned, all the music videos from the soundtracks aren't here like Footloose, Let's hear it for the boy and Dancing in the Sheets, Holding out for a Hero.

Well this IS the first time it's getting a Blu-ray in the US. So there's that.

I'd give him a gold plaque if I designed it. Lithgow is the man.

I'll probably buy it since I have the older addition and I ALWAYS upgrade for some reason, but just one thing:
They misspelled Dianne Wiest's name.
Two N's Paramount.

A hugely overrated film. Only thing good about the film is the soundtrack and locker room scene.
Seriously, this film has dated badly. That remake is welcome IMO.

What??? No music videos!!!??? What a shame!!!! The very least they could have included a soundtrack! I guess its' those music rights that were the deal-breaker!!!
It's just like when they kept telling us that Pepsi was the choice of the new generation, but I always preferred Coke.
I'm sorry? Footloose defined my generation? Really??? I didn't realize we were such dancers. Really more of the Breakfast Club generation myself.
