Sapphire Series?

As tired and parodied as Forrest Gump is, it'll definitely be a film to watch on Blu-Ray. The brilliant CGI for its time will look fantastic.
It is shown on TV once a week, I'll Probably buy this in the future when its really cheap.
I like Forrest, but probably won't jump on this as quickly as Bravehart and Gladiator.....

Yeah, I noticed that on another website for the upcoming Braveheart release and was wondering what that was all about...now I know: it's just Paramount's cutesy new name for Blu-Ray special editions (Sapphires are blue after all)

Is not very effective nor pleasing to the eyes. Too much blue, for when its not needed. Gladiator is also getting one. Im hating that Sapphire Series c**p. Who was the genius to bring that up?
I simple "Special Collector's Edition" banner/tagline falls precisely.

This will have to be bought. One film I've never tired of.
It comes out on my birthday!!!
I think they want something that establishes it as a premiere title like 'The Criterion Collection'.
Who cares?

This is not a movie you can watch all the time. So will not get this one
Sapphire means lots of DNR.

Totally disagree with you on that one. This is actually one of the few movies I could play on a loop and watch over and over all day long.

It looks like Gump is looking at that logo, saying, "what's a sapphire series".
Will be getting this. Apparently the new series means that its focusing on amazing audio and picture... but shouldnt all blu's be like that lol?

Agreed....it's just another silly marketing gimmick.

If the Sapphire Series is trying to emulate the Criterion Collection, then I'm all for it. But really, trying to be like the Criterion Collection and actually being like it are 2 entirely different things.
The cover itself isn't too bad. It has as much blue as Blu-ray discs have (or green in the case of The Incredible Hulk).
Forrest Gump is one of my all-time favourites. Sure, there are some places on the 'net where it is ripped apart, simply because it won the Oscars over Pulp Fiction. But there's something very nice about the movie and its a joy to watch everytime.

What do you do when all these 3 movies in the best picture category should have won best picture in 1994 (Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump). Gump won, only 1 could win. Just crazy that all those amazing films were all nominated together that year, unfair that only 1 could win. That is how I see it, they all should have won, they are amazing films.

Wow, I didn't know that The Shawshank Redemption was also nominated the same year. If I was the jury, I would be stumped too. Three great movies. All three deserved it. But I guess for once I agreed with the jury. I liked Forrest Gump a little more than the other two.

Me too. I'm happy with my DVD SE for this one.

I like the movie (more a fan of the soundtrack, though) but it's a bit too sad for me. I can only handle watching it once a year or so.
I'll stick with my 2 disc set thanks

I love this movie but I would love it more if I watched it again. Will Netflix it.
From the looks of Saphire Series I think they are releasing classics. Like this, Braveheart, I also heard about a Goodfellas too
.
