It has been almost exactly four years since Paramount released Friday the 13th: Part 3 on Blu-ray. Four years and no sign of films 4 through X. Today Warner Bros., in cooperation with Paramount, finally announced a complete collection Blu-ray set, set to be released on September 13th of this year.
Quote: The 10-disc collection includes the twelve films on nine Blu-ray discs, as well as a killer DVD bonus disc full of special features on the making of the famous franchise. The must-own set will be presented in a collectible tin case with 11 hours of previously released special features and a 40-page soft cover book. The book is excerpted from Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th, a fan-favorite volume that’s viewed as the ultimate memoir of the series, and highlights some of the 200 interviews, 600 photos, storyboards, concept art and more. - No new special features were created specifically for this set.
- Save for the artwork, the discs featuring Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part II and Friday the 13th Part 3 are the exact same discs that were previously released by Paramount; Friday the 13th Part 3 is still presented in 2D and red and blue anaglyph 3D.
- Likewise, save for the artwork the disc for Friday the 13th (2009) is the same as the previous release. The disc containing Freddy Vs. Jason has a revamped menu, but the same content as the previous Blu-ray release.
- Only the R-rated cut of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday is included; the commentary track found on the DVD is also absent.
- The "Killer Bonus" DVD of extras included in the set is the exact same disc that was included with the "From Crystal Lake To Manhattan" boxed set released in 2004, right down to the disc artwork and copyright stamp.
- After a cursory look it seems that all of the Deluxe Collector's Edition extras for Fridays 4-8 have been ported over to the set, and many of them are now presented in high definition.
- The "From Crystal Lake To Manhattan" commentary tracks for Friday the 13th Part 3 and Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood are not included; all of the original eight Paramount films contain at least one commentary track except for Friday the 13th Part II and Friday the 13th Part 3 which do not have one. Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan each include two commentary tracks.
- The UltraViolet code included with the set is one code for the entire collection--you do not get a separate code for each film.

i imagine they did this just to say "its every movie". plus outside the little reboot moment of him finding his mask....it pretty much can work as just another sequel.
that being said, i totally wouldnt be surprised if its just because they wanted an even number for collection of discs. saying "10 DISCS!!!!" somehow sounds cooler than saying 9.
I like to think of it that way myself, it would have worked better as a sequel rather then trying to remake the original. I tried giving it a couple shots and just can't watch the new one because it's a remake that to me doesn't come close to what the original one was about.

How lazy is Paramount and Warner? there is no reason why they couldn't port over all the extras that had been previously released, Warner also did a nice featurette for the first Friday the 13th when they released the uncut version in the UK dvd "Return to Crystal Lake" also Paramount not suppling Warner the HD 3D version of Friday the 13 3D. No thought or respect was given for this big money making franchise. If you want to see how its done check out Fox's "Alien "series and "Planet of the Apes" series, that's the way it should be done.
to the Friday fans out there..... the Crystal Lake Memories doc is officially up for pre-order as of today, its the only way (so far) to get the bonus dvd of extras as well. show your love and grab it!!
i got my order in, it'll make a nice primer to watching this box set when it comes out 2 weeks later.

I dig that cover!
I really hate the packaging for this. I know that blu-rays are harder to scratch, but still...sliding them into cardboard sleeves ? I don't think so. Hopefully the UK version will be like the Universal Monsters set and have normal hubs to hold the discs in some sort of digipack.
I used to be the biggest Friday the 13th fan... when I saw these movies for the first time. The rewatchability factor is just not there. I'll give them ONE more shot, but they're just so tediously paced with some really awful kills. The first of course is still great (as well as the sixth).

i highly doubt anyone will ask 130 for it, i'm sure the average price will be 60-80 dollars, maybe 100 in some places. as for uncut versions, i doubt that will ever happen, especially where Part 7 is concerned, all they have there is VHS footage that Kane Hodder owns. i doubt any "scrubbing" will make that footage feature film worthy. though having it as an extra would be cool.
as for the other movies, considering what Paramount really thought of the franchise at the time, i'd be surprised if there's any of that cut footage left or if there is, dont know if they'd wanna spend the money to clean it up and re-insert it. i mean these are the guys who released Star Trek movies in their theatrical form on blu-ray when the dvds were the extended versions. if they dont wanna put the effort in one of their Major franchises.....
but maybe if this sells well they will change their tune.

the only thing i can figure is that 1-3, the Vs. movie and the remake will all simply be the original blu's but with new art. but then Part 4 is new and gets its own disc?
Yes, it will be the original Blu-rays. Part 4 gets it's own disc because there is an odd number.
damn so its not special? lol
but that sorta works out for me with the Vs. movie. i got the canadian barebone edition cuz an online store screwed me so now i'll have the proper WB release with the extras i'm guessing.

It is the same thing as the dvds I have already pass
I only really want The Final Chapter as I already have parts 1,2,3, so I hope it gets an individual release somewhere down the line.
If parts 5, 6 and 7, 8 were released as twofers then I may consider picking them up as well if they were going cheap.

I'm in the same boat. I already have 1-3 and only really 'need' 4-6. I suppose I'd like a copy of X too. But I really don't like 7-9. At all.

day 1 for me...i have them all on dvd, already have Freddy Vs. Jason and the remake on blu but i think its totally worth getting. not a fan of the coverart but its the contents that matter. plus the 7hr documentary comes out this august so it makes for a very complete collection.
i'm guessing that bonus disc is just the same one that came with the Part 1-8 dvd collection since it shares a similar if not the same title. the inclusion of a tin case and the book is a nice touch. if only WB had treated the Nightmare blu collection this well. though next year is Freddy's 30th anniversary so would they double dip a collection so soon and make it worthy?

I'll get this for sure. I've only watched a couple of Friday the 13th's, but feel that I should have them for sure.
