This artwork is terrible! I see they're going for the original poster look but this just looks terrible.

I don't like the covers. Where is the iconic hockey mask? LAME!
Horrible artwork. I'm sure that there will be a voucher to see the remake for free when you purchase any of the four discs.
The hockey mask didn't show up until part 3, but, your right it is lame-ass.

You know what call me crazy but I love the artwork. It might be a little cheesy but it still has a creepy look. I'm totally picking these up.
I think I will stick with the previous box set.
i'd pick them all up no matter how the covers looked, but i was REALLY hoping we'd see the original artwork on all of the original 8...pretty dissapointing
I really dig the covers as it is the poster art for the films. All 3 are a must buy I can't wait to see the original in HD on Blu-Ray.
"Kill her mommy, kill her."
"Kill her mommy, kill her."
Parts 2 & 3 are due to be released on Blu-Ray on the 9th of Febuary in the U.K
not excited.
Uncut? I am so, there!
Artwork is awful, it looks like bad fan art.
I'll only pick up the first Friday and I'll get the Blu-ray version. While I'm glad they have finally released an uncut version of the original, I was hoping all of the original eight would be released uncut and in a box set. I guess that was too much to ask though.

No, there won't be. Paramount, the company releasing these discs, didn't do the remake. New Line Cinema did. New Line does have a box set of Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs. Jason coming out with a $5 coupon for the remake though. Paramount is only releasing these to capitalize on the movie of another studio. I'm still glad they're releasing them however.

Can anyone tell me if theres anything NEW on these 3 that I don't already have on the box set? & am I the only one who thinks the artwork is pretty cool, granted they cut off the iconic mask, but that didn't get introduced til part 3 right? So the only one that should have the mask is part III, right?

Doesn't the outline of the "killer" on the cover of the 1st look at little too butch...?

ZachariahMost of the stuff here is new. In the box set the individual films did not really have bonus features, they was mainly just the comprehensive doc and featurettes on the set's bonus disc. These discs are almost entirely new stuff. If it's not clear, the third one is in 3-D, which is the new thing.

Yeah, I'd noticed that as well, thats pretty stupid.
And I'd like to second MovieNerd777's question, is there anything in here worth buying, or is someone like me who doesn't own any of these yet better off with the 'Crystal Lake to Manhattan' set?

Hmmm.. I was hoping for a box set of all 8 Paramount movies uncut as well. I was also hoping for a 3D version of the third movie - anyone know if this is actually happening?
I agree that the killer of the original movie looks a bit too "butch", maybe a little too similar to the killer in the sequels
@MovieNerd777: The "hook" this time is that the films should be completely uncut, for the first time ever. I'll guess that the addition of new extras will take a back seat to that little nugget...

Ya,
Spoiler That doesn't really look like Mrs. Voorhees to me.
Those all look terrible

Didn't they use men's hands for the "giallo" shots prior?
I've never been too hardcore into slashers, so I may be pulling that out of my ass.

The art clearly says 3D, so I'm guessing yes.
But, the 3D is terrible. Trust me. It was floating about online a while back and I watched it and the effect hardly worked at all.

Meh, anyone can print out their own custom DVD covers these days. Get the original art that way if you want to. I like how they've played with the original art, but granted, the first one does look a bit "butch". These are looking good. Not an awful double-dip but not an extreme "finite" edition of all films either. With all these new extras, Part 3 in 3D and "His Name Was Jason" all on the same day, February 3rd will be a fantastic day to be a Friday-fan!
But then again, it could just be they've used the original title for Part 3. If it's not in 3D, that'd be a bummer.

Yes, it will be in 3-D...glasses and all.
I really want these, but did't I hear mumbelings of a new boxset some months ago?

I can't wait for the new extras and part 3 in 3-D.
As nice as Bluray is, I don't think they'll remaster the movie to utilize BR, so I'll stick with the DVD. Maybe even wait until Halloween when it will be under $10.
As far as advice for newbies, I'd suggest getting the 8 set and having them all and cheaper than getting and waiting for the deluxe editions.

maybe plans changed because they seem to eb individual now but a few months back there was talk of a box set of these 3 together, so maybe thats what you recall.

So, itd be a good deal to buy these if *prays* they are $15 each. I could just rebuy all the movies & sell the pre-packaged set on eBay.
I don't see these being over $17 do you?
Thanks man,
Zachariah

You're an idiot, a complete moron! Not only does Jason NOT become the villain until part two, the hockey mask doesn't appear until 3/4 into the third film! Imbecile!

Waa Waa Waa....all these people that keep whining about trivial things about these releases just need to stop. I am glad Paramount is re-releasing these as Special Editions, I am glad Part 1 is on Blu-ray and Uncut, I am glad Part 3 is in 3-D whether it be Anaglyph (Red/Blue) or Field Sequential (Theatrical release) 3-D, I don't care. We are getting it in 3-D people....from a major studio. We are getting 5.1 Surround Sound people. Get over your ridiculous moaning and groaning.
Paramount, you are doing a fantastic job. Oh yea, the cover art is TERRIFIC.

I'll double dip on these.
Question, why is Part 3 listed as a deluxe edition when the only extra listed are trailers?

Um... yes and no. I understand that any special features for these movies are not exactly in abundance, but they could at least have ported some of them over (such as the Part 3 commentary) from the previous release.
Also, where are Part 2 & 3 on Blu-ray??

The first one is already on some shopping sites and lists for around $12 for the DVD and $20 for the BluRay
