Quote: Meet Jerry Dandridge. He's sweet, sexy, and he likes to sleep in late. You might think he's the perfect neighbor. But before inviting Jerry in for a nightcap, there's just one thing you should know. Jerry prefers his drinks warm, red and straight from the jugular! It's FRIGHT NIGHT, a horrific howlstarring Chris Sarandon as the seductive vampire and William Ragsdale as the frantic teenager struggling to keep Jerry's deadly fangs out of his neck. Only 17-year-old Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) knows Jerry's bloodcurdling secret. When Charley can't get anybody to believe him, he turns to TV horror host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), who used to be the "Great Vampire Killer" of the movies. Can these mortals save Charley and his sweetheart Amy (Amanda Bearse) from the wrathful bloodsucker's toothy embrace? If you love being scared, FRIGHT NIGHT...will give you the nightmare of your life.

"The only extra material will be the theatrical trailer?"
Pass.
Pass.
Unbelievably dumb move on Sony's part licencing this out to some tiny company who are only putting out 3000 copies in the US (at a high price no less).
A major bummer for those of us who want an upgrade on features. Stories on Roddy, deleted, making of, yadda, yadda, yadda.....
Where is the Criterion like company for titles like this.
In fact "Fright Night Part 2" could use an upgrade as well.
Hey more money we can all spend on other DVD's right?

This looks like the EXACT same DVD I saw being sold at Barnes & Noble for almost fifteen dollars.
I think I'll wait until I can find it at Big Lots.

No blu-ray?!?! I got excited when I saw this posted and thought it was being reissed on blu-ray. What a bummer!
This is serious kick in the b*lls, as the previous releases on DVD are not that great. That there is no Blu-ray copy is infuriating, as there are HD masters created for TV broadcasts - I have a copy in my Sky HD box. This is a catalogue title which deserves better.
There are loads of pre-existing extras created by fans, including a couple of audio commentaries by the cast and crew, and acres of new interviews.
Sony really can go jump off the highest cliff they can find for this one...

great another dvd...blu please and not at $40 and 3000 copies! Yes it Sucks
Ridiculous. Especially considering there are TWO cast commentaries out there that they could easily license that were recorded at a convention some years ago. Give the long time fans something worth paying attention to, please! I've had this DVD for over ten yars!

I Believe That The Remake Starring Colin Farrell Is Better
For those interested here is a link to the two commentaries mentioned previously:
http://www.iconsoffright.com/Commentaries.htm
You can download them as .mp3s and listen along with the movie--they cue you in as to when to start up the movie--or if you're feeling really industrious you could always re-author the existing DVD to include the two tracks.
Also on the page is a commentary from Tom Holland for Child's Play and a commentary for the film Nightwing with actor Nick Mancuso. I haven't listened in on the Nightwing track (the movie itself isn't half bad though), but the Fright Night and Child's Play tracks are excellent.

Cheers Matt, didn't know about those. Won't sync with my UK PAL version, but I'll just listen to them on the train or something. To be honest in not releasing a general BD version of this they're just asking for people to rip off the limited version. Who's going to pay $40 for this? I like the film, but that's just silly money for what it is.

I won't even watch it. Looks like they took all the humor and fun out of it. And where's Vincent??

The remake is c**p. I honestly thought I'd fallen asleep and missed twenty minutes of plot, but then I realised that they'd simply neglected to write it.
Blu-Ray being released 12/13/11 exclusively through Screen Archives
