Quote: For three years after being forced from office, Richard Nixon remained silent. But in summer 1977, the steely, cunning former commander-in-chief agreed to sit for one all-inclusive interview to confront the questions of his time in office and the Watergate scandal that ended his presidency. Nixon surprised everyone in selecting David Frost as his televised confessor, intending to easily outfox the breezy British showman and secure a place in the hearts and minds of Americans. Likewise, Frost’s team harbored doubts about their boss’ ability to hold his own. But as cameras rolled, a charged battle of wits resulted. Would Nixon evade questions of his role in one of the nation’s greatest disgraces? Or would Frost confound
critics and bravely demand accountability from the man who’d built a career out of stonewalling? Over the course of their encounter, each man would reveal his own insecurities, ego and reserves of dignity—
ultimately setting aside posturing in a stunning display of unvarnished truth.

Me either. They gave weeks to The Reader and Revolutionary Road though. I hate it when they do that.
I'll be checking this out too.

boy does this looks BORING!
sorry everyone but i am the only one who thinks that Ron Howard sucks and that he's just a "Steven Spielberg No.2" (who unfortunately just keeps on disappointing me more and more...)

I did think this would be better. It just kinda sat there for a while. Also i cant see this having a lot of replay value
that is one crowded cover
I seriously dislike that art. The text makes it look like a sequel to Serial Mom.
I really liked the movie, but then again any movie about Nixon fascinates me. Still haven't seen Stone's movie though. Michael Sheen and Frank Langella are both awesome in this. I recommend it if historical movies interest you. Cover art, do not like, at all. I love the original poster.
just WOW
You know? I've always wanted to see this film. My friend said it was good and both my parents loved it.
Is it just me or does Sheen look like Alec Baldwin in that bottom right photo (albeit with a larger nose)?
Great cover, I wanted to see this one. Definite blind buy.
Why don't they ever just keep the theater poster art for DVD covers anymore? 9 times out of 10 they're FAR better. The original poster for Frost/Nixon was simple and classy. This one is way too cluttered and busy.
Great movie though. Superb performances from Langella and Sheen.

Decent cover art. Will blind buy still.
Really enjoyed this film, was surprisingly funny too.
I saw the interview in 1977 and I can't imagine this being any good since the interview itself was pretty dry and pathetic. However, I have met a few that have said it was riveting. Knowing Howard's way with embellishment such as Apollo 13 and a few others, it's possible this has been turned into a decent fictional portrayal of the event. But there's no chance of this DVD finding a space in my collection.
I also didn't get a chance to see this yet. But liked the look of it from the trailer. And Howard has assembled a great cast, Rockwell, Bacon, Platt, Jones, not forgetting the two leads.
I'm really interested in seeing some of Michael Sheens other roles too, I haven't seen much of his work really. One I'm looking forward to seeing is The Damned United which is coming out soon. From the trailer he seems to have nailed Cloughie aswell.

I agree about the alec baldwin thing, i can see that.
Loved this movie. Brilliant performances. Will be a pleasure to own.
I thought this movie was decent, but not anywhere near as good as "Slumdog," "Milk," "The Wrestler," and so forth. I don't think that it should be nominated for Best Picture. The cover art is also too bright, why didn't they just go with the semi-cool poster art?
I remember years ago watching the actual interview on PBS and thought it was the most boring thing I've ever seen. I can't imagine how anyone found anything worthy of putting in a movie. From what I hear, I think the whole premise is probably just a lefty interpretation of the situation to make those liberals who didn't like him feel better about themselves all these years later.
One of the best movies of the year! Frank Langella was incredible. Michael Sheen was a revelation
Actually, Jonny, it's very favorable toward Nixon. Most of the liberal critics thought it was too "soft" on him.

What he said. Terrific year for movies. And this was one of the very best.

Here here! This was a pretty good movie, though I have to watch it again on DVD. (I saw it at the best picture showcase, and by that time I was trying not to fall asleep due to the long day of awesome movies.)
