Quote: Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and-if he has his way-every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop...except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen's world apart.

That DVD art is horrendous...
Look out, Emma! There's giant versions of all the male leads surrounding you, there's mini me versions of said actors coming out from under your dress, AND your dress happens to be engulfed in flames!!

Disappointingly one note movie. On the upside watching it made me get around to purchasing LA Confidential on Blu-ray finally!
Despite all the negative reviews, this was actually a surprisingly fun action drama, sure it's silly and no one should go in expecting another L.A. Confidential, but the cast and visuals (not to mention over-the-top violence) all make it more than worth your time. Not too shocked that the alternate shootout wasn't included in the extras, but it is nice to see there's a fairly extensive amount there, especially considering Warner's track record. As far as I'm concerned, sold.
The artwork looks awesome though I don't want to wait until May or June to rent it at Netflix.
They should include the move theater shootout in the deleted scenes. It is not their fault some crazed gunman shot everybody in CO and everybody is worried about being PC when this had nothing to do with that incident.

Sorry, there are deleted scenes. Missed them off by accident!
I was really looking forward to this release for the deleted scene of the movie theater. Not going to buy now.
Not even deleted scenes? I mean c'mon, movie was ok. Its not something i'd want to watch over and over. The problem with this was it just kinda felt generic. Nobody handles mob like Scorcesse.
Was intrigued to see this solely for Emma Stone, but with the abysmal reviews, my intrigue has massively declined. Might catch it if it's on Netflix instant. If not, well...
Something told me that the alternate shootout wasn't going to show up on the Blu-ray. I figured it'd be in bad taste right now to have the scene be shown for public viewing. Maybe they'll do what "Little Shop of Horrors" did last year and wait a few years to incorporate the alternate sequence into a director's cut.
