This is more or less a spiritual sequel to Payback and was actually quite enjoyable. I don't really care how unhinged Melvin is in his personal life, I still like him and his work as an actor.
Saw it in the theater the week before last and it was way fun...its Coen brothers-like tone suits the movie beautifully; I caught a specific visual reference to Raising Arizona.
And just as Russell78 said above, it's impressive that the charisma and empathy lacking in Mel's personal life seems more and more abounding in his work as actor-director.

Hmmm. Doing this movie must have been Mel's "escape", back when Ok$ana was still putting his balls through the ringer...
Blind buy for me, can never get enough of Gibson.
I think this was a Directv Cinema exclusive though it cost $9.99 which was more expensive compared to the usual pay per view movies.
Haha, the character is really named Driver?
Cripes, I must have blinked - how quick was that?!

Not named; Gibson et al. decided to give the protagonist a cameo name.
He drives the escape car in the beginning and isn't referred to by that name in the movie, as far as I remember.
