Okay, I "get it" and all ... it's blue slime because it's blu-ray, but I'm really OVER the whole concept of "blu" themed art. Just put the logo against a plain black background or give us the classic poster art please.
Is that what it is? Blue slime?
That kinda sucks.
Why don't these cover designer / marketing people realise that the original poster artwork almost always looks the best.
Am I right folks?

i agree, would have much rather have had the original logo on black background, same disappointment as the two movie pack w/ the green slime cover, at least green slime made sense...but blue slime?
Mmmm, on second thoughts... The original poster is kinda ordinary.
What do y'all think?

Something tells me they're rushing this out because the video game is set to be released around the same time.....
I kinda like the Blu slime background, though it looks more like brilliant blue water or even Kool-Aid. It's kinda clever. But I guess I'm the only one who likes it (thus far)
I already own the 2-pack DVD with the slim cases and green slime covers, so I see no need to upgrade. I got that set for under $10 at work. Plus I'm not that big of a fan of these films.

Unless it retails for less than $15, no need for the upgrade, specially since GBII is not included. But like mentioned above, a great tie-in for the game.

I actually love the original poster art for this one (had it on my wall as a teenager for many years) and would have loved to see it return on this release (I don't think it's ever been used outside of it's theatrical run -- perhaps because I'm the only one that loves it?!) For a movie like this, you'd think they'd put a little more creativity into it outside of, "hey, let's make the slime blue because it's a blu-ray, get it?!" ... lame. Regardless of that, still looking forward to this and the new game.

both the blu-ray and game were supposed to come out last october. they even had a display for the movies at one of the "cons", they both got pushed back because this is the 25th anniversary of the first movie.
so i dont think anything was or is being rushed.

looks like blue hair gel. i will definately be picking this up. got to catch the HD premiere of this movie on HDNet and it looked amazing !!
If Sony's gonna get gimmicky they should have opted to go the Incredible Hulk route and do a "slime" green Blu-ray case. That makes much more sense to me (then again, perhaps Hulk beat them to the punch with that idea and they wanted to do something different)...come to think of it, I'm surprised none of the other studios have jumped on the idea and started releasing titles with cases in every color of the rainbow (and then some)...only a matter of time before they do, I suppose.
Wondering what the extra`s gonna be...
The standard def is already pretty good... now if they put a Ghostbusters II Director's Cut on Blu, I'm sold. If any movie has ever cried for a DC, it's GBII.
Will be getting.
As a big Ghostbusters fan I will probably be getting this. But I will eagerly await to see some reviews on P/Q and some of the new extras before I fully commit.
I also agree its pretty shameful that GB2 is going to be overlooked on the extras front again. Those guys musn't have great memories of working on that movie. Bill Murray certainly doesn't.

It got pushed back because the companay making the game went out of business and someone else took over the game to redo/finish it.
I'm curious to see what the picture quality will be. Great film. But it needed the "HULK" treatment, green case and green background. The blue has nothing to do with the movie, Slime is GREEN!

Sony will never, let me stretch this as far as I can, NEVER understand the love fans have for this movie, and they will keep NOT paying anyone a damn cent to make a DECENT edition. Since the last edition was a big letdown, there's no way to hope for a "Blade Runner" type of edition, which I'd buy in a Wall Street second... but this being Sony, they'd never hire a fan even for FREE (I'd damn do it for FREE) and it frustrates me because many of us die hard fans woiuld be capable to do something quite amazing, if they only could tell us: Okay, we've opened the vault. Now, work your magic".
I'd show them what's the meaning of "Special" and "Anniversary" edition.

i really dont know what everyone is complaining about. this is a remastered BLU RAY gift from the gods. how can this get any "better"??? the list of features posted by Chris Gould are plenty for me, and you cant get any better than 1080 quality. and as for it getting the "Blade Runner" treatment...BLADE RUNNER HAS 5 DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE MOVIE! Ghostbusters has ONE. im just pleased i didnt have to wait "Lord Of The Rings / Star Wars" time for this blu ray edition. be grateful, not angry.
I'll be greatful when a two or three disc edition come out, when the movie gets the treatment it deserves. I'm not asking for much, just for them to open the vault and release all there is to have... and as for Blade Runner, remember that other than the 5 versions, there is a whealthy 4 hour making-of documentary... this one knocked my socks off so you can probably understand my deception... And for us DVD owners who still can't afford to upgrade to Blu, take note that NONE of the so-called "special" features are to be available on the DVD... sucks being us I know.
Great release......but horrible art. Why not have the poster art (ghost with no sign on black background) or the art from the first dvd release ? It was the four Ghostbusters in front of a landscape of the top of Dana's apartment with a sort of purple-y sky. While that wasn't the best dvd art I've ever seen, it is a lot better than this slime cover. I don't recall purple slime anywhere in the movie. That didn't happen until the pinkish-purplish slime in the underground tunnel.
Don't like the hair-gel art.. and the fact that the trailer is missing (was on last DVD too).
Further details added
slimer mode sounds interesting
I had hoped for the original music video to make it on this release.
So, the new, "Extras," would seem to be a documentary on the car and basically an advert for the video game.... WOW! Well they just make it worth buying even more now!
No, there are BD-Live and BonusView features as well.
I didn't get the rerelease DVD a few years ago, and I think this will be great to see in HD, so I will be getting it.
To anyone here that doesn't know, there's an ECTO-1 Hallmark ornament coming out too this year.

Any idea of what the menus look like ? The menus on the original dvd was amazing (the city skyline with movie atmosphere)

Chances are that GBII is going to end up coming to BRD with zero extras at all, just like the last 2 dvd releases :\
really saddens me
