Yes, finally! This has been highly anticipated for quite some time. This movie already looks and sounds great enough on DVD. Only have the initial release 2-Disc and never got the Extended Edition, so I will gladly upgrade. All of the battle scenes should scare the c**p outta of everyone living within a mile radius of you, in DTS-HD Master Audio. The picture and audio on this one should be reference quality and nothing less. Now Warner Bros. needs to get off their asses announce the Heat Blu-ray, since the Public Enemies release is right around the corner....
Oh bliss! One of the films that I've continually double dipped with. I had two versions on VHS. Then both DVD releases. Now the Blu-Ray. Seriously one of the finest films of this decade. It's just a real pity that Ridley Scott's not been able to match it since.

Here's hoping we get lucky and Collateral comes at the same time!....Considering all three are from different studios, however, I'm not holding my breath...

Sapphire series? What the hell?
A revised cover should be on the works, cause that is one pitiful excuse for a cover, all those banners....yuck. Anyways, Great news!
Titanic now Paramount!

My girlfriend is going to kill me. I do try not to duplicate movies on Blu-Ray that I have on DVD - particuarly ones like this that I've already double dipped on - but don't think I'll be able to resist this one.
Awesome!!!But i'm a little disappointed that it's NOT in 6.1 or even 7.1 audio like the dvd(6.1).That's the reason I never purchased the Extended version because of it's 5.1 dolby!!!
Does this mean there will be "Emerald", "Ruby", "Diamond" series as well? Blu-ray double dipping has begun in earnest...
ABOUT TIME! I will definitely be buying this one. What is the Sapphire Series?
So this is not the extended version then?
I liked the original cover of the DVD release better...more dignified, less 300 (although I realize the extended edition design predates 300 by a number of years).

F**k yes. If Dreamworks had gone all LOTR Blu on us and only released the theatrical, I would have gone all ape s**t. As it is I'm still pissed at New Line (as we all are I'm sure). Studios, this is how you release Blus. I personally think the EE makes Gladiator even more epic. Reminiscent of Spartacus.
@ Michael: Read the text above
.
Two commentaries must mean both the old and new commentaries (for both cuts) are being included.

UK Steelbook all the way, baby!
Looks good, but do they have to put "Sapphire Series" on the spine too?
Another reason to upgrade to Blu-ray. We finally have Gladiator! great film.

The extended of cut of Gladiator is good, but not a difference maker like, say, Ridley Scott's Kindgom of Heaven. As far as LOTR EE, you'll have to wait at least 2 years for those...

I agree. It adds a bit but also repeats things we're told clearly anyway. It's all in the chosen words:
1. Gladiator: Extended Cut
2. Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut
Scott is very clearly on the DVD the Theatrical Cut of Gladiator already is the Director's Cut. I like some of the new (deleted) scenes but ultimately the Theatrical Cut is the better one.

Kingdom Of Heaven: Director's Cut matches it pretty close in my opinion. They butchered the theatrical release. The full cut is an amazing film.

I wouldn’t touch this on Bluray with ten foot barge pole!
I looked at the technical specifications the other day at HMV. It didn’t state dts-ES just 5.1 and that’s all! Rubbish what a Bluray rip off!
At least the DVD has dts-ES!
Bluray can keep Gladiator!
