Criterion has announced 2-disc DVD ($39.95) and 1-disc Blu-ray ($39.95) releases of Gomorrah for the 24th November. Each will include a new high-definition transfer supervised and approved by director Matteo Garrone, a 60-minute "Five Stories" documentary on the making of Gomorrah, new video interviews with Garrone and actor Toni Servillo, interviews with writer Roberto Saviano and actors Gianfelice Imparato, deleted scenes, and the theatrical trailer. A booklet featuring an essay by critic Chuck Stephens will also be included. We've attached the official package artwork for the DVD release below:

Quote: GOMORRAH is a stark, shocking vision of contemporary gangsterdom, and one of cinema's most authentic depictions of organized crime. In this tour de force adaptation of undercover Italian reporter Roberto Saviano's best-selling exposé of Naples' Mafia underworld (known as the Camorra), Garrone links five disparate tales in which men and children are caught up in a corrupt system that extends from the housing projects to the world of haute couture. Filmed with an exquisite detachment interrupted by bursts of violence, GOMORRAH is a shattering, socially engaged true-crime story from a major new voice in Italian cinema.

That's some cool cover art. I'll watch it.

I've heard nothing but good things about this. I'm slightly surprised this is getting a Blu-ray release, but since Criterion is releasing it I guess I shouldn't.
sounds interesting to check out
I wanted to see this. Straight to Criterion? Gotta be good. Can't go wrong with a gangster movie straight from Italy.
Saw it in February, transfer in HD was solid, but film lacked a lot, too often it was a series of vignettes more than any real character based dilemmas that made you care about what happened.
Cover looks...weird lol. Ill give it a whirl.
The UK BD I already own is fine for me, it's Region B btw.
Also, loving the Criterion release previews.
I've wanted to see this for a while. Excellent art.
Will definitely pick this up. Heard some of the "actors" in this movie were real Mafioso....
looks good but the title makes me think of gonnorhea (i know its spelled wrong)
I've been fairly impressed with Criterion treatments of their BD so far. I have always been wanting to see this, this is a definite buy for me.
Blind buy for me. I'm disappointed this was never shown in any theaters in my area.
Off topic, but BoBoi, I love your signature. (500) Days of Summer is one of the year's best movies. I cannot wait until it comes out on DVD/Blu-ray. I'm sick of waiting even after seeing it twice theatrically (once was just last week after it shockingly came to the theater in my little town that only shows three movies at a time and never gets indie films - I had to see it again and of course show my support so it hopefully wouldn't be the last smaller film they'll get - though it probably will be as it only stayed a week and didn't have a very good turnout
).
