Amazing!!!
that 6hr documentary seems like a waste. i mean i know this movie is a big part of MGM but they should have just edited all the references to the movie and made a smaller extra out of it. i'm sure 90% of the documentary has nothing to do with this movie.
anyway i've never seen this and never will (not my taste) but its always cool when they go all out on movies like this. if only it happened more with those i liked.
oh and isn't funny, the blu-ray is 6hrs longer but its still 2 discs smaller. god bless major storage space. lol

I'll hit this so fast, Amazon wouldn't know what hits them.....
Never been a fan of this movie, one watch was enough for me. Nice to see the fans of the movie are getting an amazing treatment for there collection.
I remember watching this is 8th grade history and bored out of mind.
No regular blu version?
Calling this movie a mind blowing classical films that'll bring you to tears isn't good enough. Without hesitiating, will buy.

As is the case with the upcoming Wizard of Oz on Blu-ray, no, or at least not in the immediate future.

Never really been all that enamoured with this movie, but I am a little curious about how Mammy would look in HD, LOL.....
I hope that one day Sound of Music gets a BD release. Along with Snow White which I have been waiting forever for.

I'm sure Warner will do like they did with Casablanca: release a loaded gift set first, and then a regular BD version in a year or two.
I can't say I'm too excited about this release. It must have been a spectacle in its day, but to me it was not as exciting as, say, Lawrence of Arabia.

So, the second disc will be blank?

As phenomenal as this will probably be I'll stick with my 4 disc set from 2004. If I didn't own it already I'd be all over the 5 disc dvd set. I'm tired of double, triple quadriple dipping. I'm quite happy with what I've got.

The film is split between two discs...it is nearly 4 hours long after all.

What about those who would like all the extras but don't give a damn about the book?
just another way to rake in DVD/BD bucks i guess

I am happy with my four-discer.
Wife is a huge fan of this film. We have a huge poster from the movie up in our movie room over our 61" HD set, so it is a no-brainer this will be a purchase.
Wow - rather pricey but (yes I know it is only the MRSP.......)
A 6 hour documentary? jesus, who`ll be watching that?
on the other, it does sound quite tempting

My brother gave me the four-disk set for Christmas. The extras here don't tempt me much. Triple-dipping, much?
Hrm....I would buy this but the deciding factor is just not there...and I'm talking about the digital copy....I really wanna be able to take this with me wherever I go!!!! Trust me, you have no watched an epic film unless you've seen it on an iPhone or iPod touch. Better than a big screen!!!

*opens wallet* Greatest movie ever! Def. buy for me blu ray!
