One severe cheap-ass mask...
Maybe with the rights in such a mess that the region 4 version may be complete?????
Maybe I will win the lottery next week as well..

That mask is terrible. And I reeaally wish rob zombie's halloween was never made
No Not this time
This is just a repackage job. There is nothing new here.
seriously?! hasn't anchor bay milked enough with the evil dead re-re-re-releases
I was gonna rant about how pointles feeble and disappointing this release is but you all beat me to it.
O.K. I've got to say it, why is the newly found footage not included?
No,no can't stop myself, that mask looks f**king cheap and not accurate or scary.

Michael Myers was never intended to be the entire series, it was suppose to be like a Twilight Zone-ish series of movies all based around Halloween. Myers was suppose to be "dead" at the end of 2 and it was going to continue on with new stories, but Season of the Witch didn't do as well as hoped and fans demanded Mike back. I actually liked 3 to be honest, very creepy and somewhat disturbing, particularly the "test family" scene.

I should think you have the same probem as with Halloween. In the UK we have the Anchor Bay boxset of COTC I, II and III and the Dimension boxset of IV, V, VI and VII. At least you can stand them side by side on the shelf.
Anchor Bay also released Hellraiser I, II and III but yet again Dimension have the rest. We didn't even get Hellseeker, Deader or Hellworld. (Or Dracula III for that matter).
Are those COTC sets available in America or R1 (I guess) or just in the UK (R2?)
& It might just be me but are sets usually cheaper than buying each one individually?
I need to get more money (after buying a new tv) so I can finish collections & start new ones. I still have 3 Halloween movies to get & then I want the Puppetmaster series, COTC, Leprechaun, Hellraiser, Poltergeist, & other horror series. I also need to get the last Pirates of the Caribbean film...I need to catch up haha...

The fact that all that missing footage was just found and not even being released as a bonus feature is sad enough, but the fact that Halloween - a true landmark for scary movies, independent cinema and just plain cinema in general - is getting such c**p treatment for its anniversary when Hellraiser, Evil Dead and Dawn of the Dead got the "Royale with Cheese" treatment is just depressing and a tad offensive.
What they SHOULD HAVE DONE was:
Disc 1 with the original film (remastered video with Carpenter/Cundy approval), remastered 5.1 EX/DTS sound and original mono, isolated music track with Carpenter commentary, new commentary with Carpenter, Curtis, Soles, Castle, Cundy and other crew members and archived commentaries from previous DVDs; Disc 2 with the extended cut with remastered video and audio and Carpenter commentary; Disc 3 with the three main documentaries (Unmasked; A Cut Above the Rest; 25 Years of Terror), On Location and various featurettes; Disc 4 should be all the deleted material, the various bonus features from 25 Years of Terror, a video commemorating all involved with the original Halloween who have passed on, trailes, TV spots, radio ads and trailers for other Halloween films; and for packaging bonuses, the Myers mask and a copy of the screenplay signed by John Carpenter
Approved!

I'll probably get this since I don't have the Extended Edition or Halloween 4 or 5.
I wish they would try and bring out the Producers cut of Curse Of Michael Myers. I want to see it.

I'll chime in... what a disappointment. Work with Dimension, Warner Bros. and do the fans proud with an all inclusive set. Also, if I want a Blu edition, I will buy. Doesn't it defeat the purpose to include standard and high def (not that a classic of the 70's needs high def anyway!). I guess I will be waiting for the 35th Anniv... I mean 37th Anni... wait... 40th... 50th...
The different distributors is the obvious reason for the mix/mash of flicks in this set. Not sure if I want to dip AGAIN into this pot. As mentioned, the mask doesn't look close to the REAL mask and the lack of hair makes it even more of a joke looking. The only draw of this is the extended version (I don't have). I have everything else, so I will probably give this one about 5 months after its release and catch it for 3/4 the price in a bargin bin at BestBuy or Circuit City.
not sure, i got a bunch of versions of halloween allready, ill propably pass, 90 bucks! and then that on blu ray, f**k that!

Does this have the Carpenter commentary on Halloween?
Further notes for Dimension:
What about finally releasing Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later and Scream in anamorphic widescreen on DVD or why not on skip that altogether and release them on Blu-Ray?
As for this box set; I'm a huge Halloween fan and i have all the films on DVD in multiple versions, even have the TV versions of 1 and 2 and the Producer's Cut of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers on VHS.
However, i'm gonna stay as far away from this as humanly possible. This box set sucks! First off: The mask looks horrible, downright ugly, i'd never put that on and i'd feel ashamed to have it on display. In what way is that a replica!?? Then there's the fact that it doesn't includes all films. That's still unbelivably stupid. Can't they buy the other films from Dimension?

Agreed. I have the Anchor Bay 2-Disc, and I'm perfectly happy with it. This is a great movie, but I absolutely hate parts 4 and 5, and I refuse to purchase a Blu-ray player. So, this is pretty unnecessary for me.

Anchor Bay should've taken advantage of those newly discovered alternate takes and scenes for "Halloween" and included them as part of the new set. And the Divimax version of the first flick isn't included either? Shame. (I know there was a LOT of controversy surrounding that because of the color timing of the transfer, but that had the Criterion laserdisc commentary by Carpenter, Hill and Curtis.)
A waste of time and effort on Anchor Bay's part. And the mask doesn't look that accurate to me.
A waste of time and effort on Anchor Bay's part. And the mask doesn't look that accurate to me.
Uncalled for. As many here have suggested, a multi-film re-release should, ideally, include the following:
Halloween: Theatrical/Extended TV Version
Halloween II: Theatrical/Extended TV Version
Halloween III: Season of the Witch
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers/Producer's Cut
Halloween H20
Halloween: Resurrection
Halloween: 25 Years of Terror
Halloween Remastered Blu-Ray
They could throw all that together, WITHOUT a mask, limit and number it to something like 100,000 or 200,000 copies, and they'd probably sell out in preorder. They could price it at $200, I'd pop for a "30 Years of Terror: The Definitive Collection", although even with that kind of dough coming in for it, it'd probably take them so long to free up all the rights it would end up being the 40th anniversary. Instead, we get the "Halloween: Over 10 Years of Double-dipping!" Edition. Pass.
Anchor Bay really should have tidied this one up long ago. In addition, we still need:
Children of the Corn Anthology
Hellraiser Anthology (with first three Unrated, even a Lament Configuration package like the R2)
Phantasm Sphere for R1
Book of the Dead: Army of Darkness
I'd personally love to see the last one just to have it next to the first two BOTD Evil Dead releases. You would think the studios would be smart enough to realize that they could easily partner for a limited release of these films in anthology, and such a release would let them test the waters for current demand in these films to see if they could get away with BD releases on all of them.

Will buy for sure!
I own almost every edition of Halloween. Being the completist that I am, I will probably buy this. Especially since I'm going to the 30 Years of Terror con in Pasadena.
However, I know I will get screwed since Don May Jr. found some of the sc**ps and extra film from Halloween from the editing bay.

I'm hopefully passing as well since I own them all. Hopefully means that if I have cash, I'll probably waste it. Like always. I'm a sucker for Halloween. And all the complaining about the Producer's Cut is awesome. Makes me remember that not everyone has a bootleg of it like most Halloween fans at my message board. Means there's still a chance.
Its kinda cool but expensive so I won't be buying

I wish the Halloween 6 Producer's Cut would get a release since it is my favorite version of H6. It fits more with the tone of John Carpenter's films from the last half of the 1980s.
I think it is great that they are including a bonus blu-ray copy of the original Halloween with the Halloween: The 30th Anniversary Commemorative Set. This is great for people like me who don't have any of the movies yet.
I've been looking for a few of the movies in this set. I'll totally buy this!

What a waste. I have 3 copies of Halloween so no need for this I also have 4 & 5 plus the 25-Years of Terror DVD. This 30th Anniv. looks like a total waste

I'm surprised Universal haven't sold the rights for Halloween II and III to Anchor Bay/Starz. They can't be making much from those titles. I can understand Dimension/Disney not doing so with their titles, they're not known for their co-oporational skills.

Sorry, October 7th not the 21st. Sincerest apologies to all.
I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooo there!
Rob Zombie's Halloween will be released in a 3-disc set on or about October 21st. Check HKFlix for details.
I don't own any of these yet, so I'll definitely pick it up. I'm not really sure how I feel about it having 4 and 5, but no 2, 3, H20 or Resurection; I really only like 1 and 2 anyway. There's no topping the original, so I kinda wish this just had that and the EE, but oh well.

well you can breathe a sigh of relief for evil dead. according to bruce campbell, their rights have run out so that trilogy box set thats supposed to be coming is their last hurrah for the series.

The reasons are as follows:
Halloween 2 was released on dvd thru Universal.
Halloween 6, H20 & Resurrection were released thru Dimension.
I guess there was a problem with releasing rights That Anchor Bay & the above companies could not agree on.

I completely agree. anchor bay can do way better than this. especially with a classic horror franchise, you think they would put a little more effort into it and include every film in the series.

Check out Dvd Pacific. It is up for preorder @ $55.86 releasing October 7th
And my hope for a proper Blu-ray release goes out the window for another year. Hopefully they're using this set as a way to liquidate their current Blu-ray release inventory to make way for one that uses the correct master and isn't DNR'ed to death.
This is a perfect set. I don't have any of the films and I don't have the mask. Genius. Although $89.97 is way too much.
I guess I'll be getting this, I got the re-release last year but it came with a free ticket to see Zombie's remake so I basically got it for free anyway.
I also have the individual releases of the above mentioned. But the mask is a great collectable to have. It's to bad that Anchor Bay did not get the rights to re-release the television version of Halloween II or even better the long gestated R1 release of H6-The Producer's Cut.
PS. I think Dimension is mooting a follow-up to Zombie's version, but I don't think Zombie will be involved.

I might get it just for the cool mask and the OOP Extended Edition, which I don't have. All in all though, seems a little unnecessary. I have the 25 Years doc already, as well as the latest Divimax editions of 4 and 5.
I really hope the Blu Ray comes in it's own blu ray case and not just part of a foldout or something. I gotta keep it with my other blu rays!
