Um, no dude. Easily the BEST Halloween in the entire series

I tried to defend this movie somewhat when it came out, just because I was so psyched for it... And then I bought the DVD when it came out, and I still haven't made it through it yet. I cut it off every time. After the attempted second, third, etc. viewing, I realized it did not pay tribute to the original. It mocked it. And I am a fan of Zombie's other two previous horror efforts. But this? What a joke. And there are so many movies deserving of a better edition on DVD. "Fright Night" just to name one. And this? Got updated from an already unnecessary two-disc edition to an even more unnecessary three-disc edition? What a waste.
i want it! Hope the Bluray has a slipcover
Is this Genius Products' first release in Blu?
I'm amazed at how many people are bashing the film as one of the worst ever...sure it wasn't perfect, and it certainly failed to live up the the expectations of die-hard fans such as myself, but it wasn't all bad. The acting was good...much better than the original [which isn't saying much considering how most 70s and 80s horror films had atrocious acting...the original Black Christmas being an exception to this fact], and the mask, appearance, and mannerisms of Michael Myers were perhaps the best of all the franchise. Seriously...the mask was absolutely incredible, and the actor behind it did a great job.
I think the reason the film failed to deliver was because Rob Zombie was dealing with a story that, in reality, deserved two films. The whole thing just feels rushed...if he'd taken the first half of the film that goes over Michael's childhood and history, and extended that into an entire movie - cutting to the credits after he escapes and finds his mask at his old house - and then releasing a sequel/follow-up film that deals with the Laurie Strode story, it could have been much better. Two full-length [approx. 2 hours each] films, the first released on August 31st [as the actual film was], and then release the Laurie Strode half on October 31st...it would have been a genius idea, and likely made for a more structured, developed story. As is, it's far too rushed...we don't even really meet the characters in the Laurie Strode half of the film before they start dying...there's nothing to feel for them.

Now the question is, are we going to see a sequel to this or the original series? I'd be happy with either.
well they already had him survive a decapitation when H20 was meant to be the end, so you know they'll find a way with the remake too but zombie had said he made his as a one shot deal, hence why micheal dies at the end. but again, hollywood always finds a way, no matter how retarded.

Cool Looking forward to the release. I hope it will be Region free. So that I can import it to OZ.

So... awful... it hurts. I'd rather watch D-War 20 times in a row than this steaming pile, Fabricio.

Blu buy for me.
Here is hoping that Rob Zombie takes full consideration that all his movies never work, he should lay off the directional projects and consider what he was doing in the past, Music.
I surprisingly really liked Devil's Rejects, but I wouldn't watch another 3 minutes of 1000 Corpses if you paid me so... I guess there's really no need to watch this.
This is one of the worst movies ever made.
I don't know his last long documentary for devils rejects was basically someone following the crew around with a camera to their meetings and junk, bored the hell out of me. no narration at all.

Yup. Even if this was the "original" (thank you, no), it would have been an awful film. From the back story to the action and finally the ending.
Next up... Friday the 13th? Ugh, no thanks.

Why wont they leave the classics alone???
Oh wait, that's right, more money....

I'm fine with my two-disc edition, thanks.
this was one of the worst films of 2007. A kick in the groin to the die-hard fans of the 1978 original & an all around s**te film in general.
Documentary is probably better than the movie.
What a massive pile of c**p the movie was.
What a massive pile of c**p the movie was.
I'll have to add it to my collection.
The only sequels I enjoyed were #2 and H20, so this was a welcome entry. Lacked the suspense of the original, but was a much better movie than any of the sequels save the two I mentioned. I love documentaries, so 4 1/2 hrs is right up my alley.
Deadman36g wrote: Will this include the Theatrical Cut (was quite disappointed when the first time around on DVD you could only get the T-Cut in Fool Screen.)I thought US R-Rated version had widescreen *and* fullscreen versions on it?
I'll toss my two cents into the pile and agree: this movie was complete rubbish (while still managing to be zombie's best film - go figure!). This documentary needs to shed the dead weight of the film it's about, and just get a seperate release...then I'll pick it up.
Didn't anyone else find this movie pointlessly cruel and hateful, and the rape scene a bit gratuitous?

Agreed.
Agreed.
Just like with every single other of Rob Zombie's movies......this one just plain SUCKED, and SUCKED hard.
No matter what the apologists say, this was a really bad, really terrible, ridiculously awful movie. Remake or not.
I don't mind long making of documentaries as long as they stay true to covering every aspect of the making of the movie. The best ones that I saw were from the Lord of the Rings extended editions.
As for Zombie making a 4 1/2 hour documentary on Halloween, it sounds really intriguing. I may want to hear a review on the documentary 1st.

Why?
awful film, essentially mocks the thought of remaking the original in it's fleeting attempt to be anything other than complete and utter drivel. Created an absurd mythology for this "boogeyman" to follow and reused the whole Laurie is my sister foundational flaw established by John Carpenter as writer during a drunken night whilst working on "Halloween II". Too bad. The original is still near perfect still.
you know i thought Rob Zombie was a fan of Halloween and I was so excited to see what he had to bring to the table.
he sure tricked the f**k out of me.

i dont know about this... i may own it, i may not... depends
On his MySpace page, Rob Zombie revealed that his 2007 remake of the horror classic 'Halloween' will be released for Blu-ray on October 21st, day-and-date with a new DVD release. No technical features have been announced at this time, though the famed filmmaker/singer did reveal that it would be a 3-disc set and would include a new documentary on the making of the film called "Michael Lives" which clocks in at over four hours.
No additional special features have been announced, but being that the release will be spread over three discs, it seems likely that all the extras from the two-disc DVD set will also be included.

Happy, guys?
PS: I guess the release has moved up two weeks since this is supposedly a "day and date" Blu-ray release. By the way, this was announced a while ago.

Cool, only imagine if Carpenter's classic looked like this back in 1978...now only if we can get a R1 Producers cut of part 6.
wow rob zombie knows how to lay on the extras. first that awesome docco on Devils Rejects, and how a 4 1/2 hour docco on Halloween!? wow.
4 and a half documentary?! It better be good since I already own the two disc.
I'll get rid of my unrated version and replace it with this. Not a great movie by far, but not a horrible one either. Rob just chose a weird approach, and went into it too strong. Love "30 Days In Hell", and glad he's at least doing proper documentaries - then we'll see where it went right and where it went wrong.
Awful cover, awful remake. Skip x 10000000.
OH F**K NO!!!
I hope this gets Blu treatment.
I doubt I'll get that anywhere near its release, but I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up owning it eventually. I saw the bootlegged internet version only, and that one wasn't that bad, other than some unnecessary hardcore music in one or two scenes. And that artwork is pretty cool.
That cover is creepy :/
Got to get this & sell or give away my unrated version!!!
Well I don't own the 2-disc editions so I guess this would be perfect... but I haven't seen the film and don't plan to.
I knew I should've bought the theatrical cut when I bought the 2-Disc. I hate the unrated -- the rape scene is god-awful, and I really don't need to own two copies of the unrated... but I'm interested in the documentary. If they have it to rent, I'll do that rather than buy it again. I do like that artwork, though.
Genius/Weinstein, stop wasting our time and hurry the hell up and release Halloween on Blu-ray! I'm sick of the runaround here!
I already have the 2-Disc Director's Cut Edition...I would never have the time to watch a 4 hour docum. anyways...so I won't be picking this up
Will buy it for the doc, hated the film
Eh, I got the beetchin' Best Buy exclusive 3D cover, I don't know if a documentary I'll probably never watch is enough to win me over for a double dip.....and the artwork looks boring as hell.
This movie is the one thing a horror movie should never be boring. There is not one thing in this movie that is the least bit scary other than the acting.
Perhaps if people don't WANT to buy the Director's Cut again (since I bought the Director's Cut AND the original theatrical cut so I could own the deleted footage they didn't put on the unrated DVD, TWC should offer some kind of service where you send in one of the PoPs from the Unrated disc and get the documentary.
Or I guess, if the price is right, I could say "F * * k it," sell the Director's Cut at FYE and take the money from it to buy the 3-disc.

seriously??...not to say that it was HORRIBLE, cuz it wasn't but...come on 4 hours?!
I'm a huge fan of Rob and everything he does. Loved House of 1000 Corpses, loved Devil's Rejects. This...was decent. I'd say it's definitely his worst movie so far. It kept me entertained throughout, but it just wasn't anywhere as strong as I thought it would be. With that being said, I'll still pick up this 3-disc set because I'm very interested to see the 4 hour documentary. I loved the one that was included with Devil's Rejects.
Why? This movie is soooooo bad..
Awesome
