Released right after Platoon, a mere shadow to that movie

Good war movie. I'm glad I haven't picked up the previous release.
Remember seeing it on video back in the day and not being too impressed, can't imagine it's aged well. Not in the same league as Platoon (as previously mentioned) Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket or Deer Hunter, obviously.
Love how Don Cheadle gets Top billing on the cover. Was only a background character in the movie.
Great movie,great cover!!!

Yeah, where's Steven Weber's name? He was the second main character behind McDermott.
In any case, I hope the sound mix has been remastered. The current disc is in 5.1, but you can tell that it's an old 2.0 mix that has very little, um...you know 5.1 fidelity.
Same thing with the video...Hopefully it's remastered a bit too. Or at the very least cleaned up.

I cried during the finale the first time I saw this.Hamburger Hill does a great job of showing the brutality of war. There certainly are better war movies though.Strange looking cover.
this movie is amazing, along with Platoon, my favorite Vietnam war 80's movies

All i remember about this is the shotgunned head and the tedious militant Black rants ('I'm against da f**king man cus he's f**king keeping my Brothers f**king down by having us f**king fight in this f**king white man's f**king war" ) by Courtney B (take me seriously because I wear glasses) Vance.

It was an M-60'd head I believe.
Courtney B Vance is an actor I like actually.
Great movie. Been meaning to watch it again sometime.

Extras added...
This was the first, and perhaps only, war movie that got the sound of incoming mortar rounds right. They had that *thump* sound just right.
"The 1-disc special edition"
That just sounds funny
Haven't seen this, not the biggest fan of war movies though.

you are missing some great war films like : days of glory, the big red one, cross of iron, the downfall ... but have not-so-great on your list like navy seals, red dawn, truly awful pearl harbour ... but I quess its matter of taste.
Anyway, glad I sold my barebones couple of weeks ago, time to upgrade.
