Emma Watson is so sexy.

I agree. Personally, I can't wait for that set!

does anyone know when the full years 1 - 4 boxset is to be released?

The only way I will buy all three of the movie's is if it is in DTS Surround I hate dolby digital it sounds like c**p. I dont know why they put out so many good movies with no DTS but that c**py dolby digital is on every one. Man I wish they would put this in DTS god that would make this movie perfect.
Who here would buy the 2-Disc Special Edition, because it shows more of the speical features? I would!

ok I loved goblet of fire, BUT ive also read the book. I think some people who watch the harry potter films and havent read the book are at a disadvantage becuase the book readers can fill in the gaps in their mind so it makes a lot more sense. As a film on its own this was great, good pace, the acting gets better each time and again wonderful casting. Cover art is standard.
One thing I do wish, put some decent extras on it. This franchise is big enough now for warner bros to do some decent extras like the LOTR trilogy got. STOP SKIMPING!!!

TOO many versions
[quote=MJJ71 wrote]I'm getting tired of these separate single disc and 2 disc editions. What happened to the days when there was the one 2 disc edition offered at a reasonable price..and inserts!
I too am tired of all these foolscreen/widescreen single disc and widescreen 2 disc versions of films, They seem to be coming from WB. Batman returns, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, now Harry potter Goblet of fire. WAY TOO much money for the same 2 disc versions offered years before for the $19.99. NOW for some reason the 1 Disc is $19.99 and the 2 Disc versions range from $24.99 to $30.00. Paramount put out Lemony Snicket 2 disc for like $24.99 and Dreamworks put out War of the worlds 2 Disc for $30.00.
RIP OFF. when movies like Star Wars 3, The Incredibles, etc come out with 2 Disc versions for $19.99 makes you p**sed these other studios are getting greedy with there 2 disc sets.
The ONLY good thing about these Expensive version are that they have the same release date as the single disc so YOU have the choice from the start which you prefer to buy.

No, like the previous three movies, the deleted scenes will not be re-inserted into the movie. They can only be accessed through the second disc on the 2-disc edition. But they might do it for the television airings on ABC...

yeah there is something off about the greyness in the 2 disc cover. I never got a chance to see this in theatres so I can't wait til this comes out.
I see a lot of complaints about the two-disc artwork and its bland greyness. But something hit me...is it possible that it could be metallic silver instead? That's an improvement, in my opinion anyway.

Goblet of Fire DVD:
Deleted Scenes
The following eight deleted scenes will be included on the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD:
SCENE 1: Dumbledore asks his students to welcome the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students as warmly as possible, and the Hogwarts students then break into song ("Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts"
.
SCENE 2: A Durmstrang student asks a girl to go to the Yule Ball with him. She says yes, while two of her friends gesture something in the background.
SCENE 3: Harry tries to catch Cho, but she's surrounded by her friends, so he waits until later (at the Owlery) to ask her out.
SCENE 4: Flitwick introduces the Weird Sisters band at the Yule Ball, the lead singer makes a short speech, and they then start one of their songs.
SCENE 5: Karkaroff warns Snape about the growing strength of the Dark Mark, which is emblazoned on both of their arms. Snape pays no heed to his warnings, and instead mentions something about Fawcett and Stebbins (two students), who appear briefly in the scene.
SCENE 6: Mr. Crouch talks with Harry, and during their discussion, Mad-Eye Moody appears, prompting Mr. Crouch to leave.
SCENE 7: Harry, Ron, and Hermione discuss Mr. Crouch's death and its implications. Ron thinks that Fudge will do his best to hush up the incident, and Hermione suggests that Harry talks to Dumbledore about it.
SCENE 8: The trio guess what Karkaroff is hiding on his arm. Hermione asks Harry which ingredients Snape claims he stole from his cupboard, and she quickly realizes that they are ingredients in the Polyjuice Potion.

Well there ya go!
That's 70 Minutes of Making-Of Features. Not a huge amount, but about three times the amount there was on the previous dvd. Add in to that the always enjoyable interview with Dan, Emma and Rupert, and we're getting a pretty substantial dvd. Not to mention the additional scenes, possible rumoured Director's Commentary....This DVD is definitely a great improvement over the previous.

I am hoping that once she finishes the last Potter book, she will find some time to sit down and actually do commentaries on each film. She seems so funny and insightful about the books in interviews, pair her up with the screenwriters for a commentary, and it'd be perfect.
I would double-dip on the complete box set of all 7 HP films in a heartbeat if she did commentaries on any or all of the films (that would be the only buying incentive for me). I mean, Nicolas Sparks did a commentary for "The Notebook", surely J.K. can do one for the Potter films if she feels like it.

According to the BBC, the 8 making-of documentaries range from 4-10 minutes in length, so it'll be more substantive than the rest, I hope.

If you say there is 8 documentarys on the release. Then the back boxcover is clearly false or maybe the trailer is false. It is clear that either the trailer or the backcover is false information
Well, the Back-Cover does indeed list 7 Making-of Features. Look at it for yourself. The problem is, it doesn't exactly say what they are on the back cover. It's not false information, it's just not clear. This sight lists them as games, when they are in fact features. It indeed lists them though, (Harry vrs. the Horntail, Meet The Champions, etc), and in the trailer, it shows them again and says they are Docs. Watch the trailer for youself.
Check out the back cover of the box set. For the 4th film special features, it says: "triwizard tournament and Voldemort features". This is what I'm talking about. There is a making of feature for each of the tasks, as well as one on Voldemort and one on the champions. There is one on the Yule Ball, and A Reflection by the Filmakers on the film in general. Presumably there is one more aswell, as the trailer lists 8. I just listed you 7 though.

Maxsplat... you almost didn't read the book because you think the movie might not live up to expectations three years from now? I pray that was sarcasm. I think the HP DVD releases are about a 7.5/10. They're not great but they're adequate and they seem to be getting better. I'm sure we would all love to see our favorite movies get the "LOTR treatment." At least for some of the big budget complicated movies. I doubt you'll hear too many people begging for a 4-disc set for Capote, as good as it may be.

Darryll, don't look for them integrated into the movie, that would be too much to ask. They will either be locked away in a game that you have to win in order to see them, or as an easter egg. Just kidding on the easter egg thing, but who knows
You haven't had to win the deleted scenes through a game since the first dvd. I think WB sc**ped that idea after the first go-round.
It kinda bugs me that people are completely disregarding the fact that this DVD looks to be a great improvement over the others. 8 Making-Of Documentaries is good and plenty. Besides the lack of audio commentary, the features on the DVD seem adequate. Not only that, its not like these original releases are the last we're going to see them released. David Heyman has stated that a Collector's Edition "Ultimate" Box-set is something we can look forward to in the future, after all the films are released. He mentioned that Alfonso and Columbus are game, and they have most likely been saving up quite a lot of material. The set would undoubtedly be packed.

On the special features on the 2 disk special edition it mentions additional scenes, now are these included in the movie or a seperate feature?
This is a great movie, and a must have for me.

As for this release, I'll be skipping it anyways. I love JKR's amazing books, but the films have all just been muddled white-washed summaries that capture none of the brilliance and wonder that she has created.

omy god! this widescreen cover art is beautiful, but the 2 disc delxe edition is terrible, everything is grey! I would prefer that WB change cover art(widescreen transformed to 2 disc deluxe edition, and deluxe edition transformed to widescreen, you understan). But in fact ill be buying the 2disc edition
Am I the only one that is annoyed with the fact that the DVD movie and the TV versions are different? If you ever watch the tv version of chamber of secerts and Sorcerers stone then watch the DVD you can see that the TV verision has more scenes. It's the same with Goonies. Any one remember the giant octopus in the tv version? it's not on the dvd.
LLcruize wrote: I will be thrilled if there are 8 documentaries, though not holding my breath. My comments are mostly for all the DVD's in the franchise to date.
The kids haven't really been in much more beyond the movies, a cast commentary surely could have been squeezed in. Ratclif is playing one of the most popular heroes in modern literature, surely they can make him some time to sit down and lament about playing THE wizard and the process of making the movies. These little "reflections" segments are fluff. No depth to them. There has been valuable time lost, it would have been great to hear him do a commentary during each film and see how he progressed from film to film. Now, any commentary done will be way after the fact. Or maybe, they do have commentaries and they are holding on to them for some mega release.
It is just a shame what COULD be on these and isn't given the size of the world. Say what you will about the prequels of Star Wars, at least the time was taken to give fans in depth making of documentaries, deleted scenes and commentaries. Basic stuff, but stuff that makes the DVD more enjoyable.
But it's not a question of *if*. There are in fact 8 Making-ofs on this dvd. But I understand what your saying about fluff. Hopefully they are of good quality. I agree that the features on the others have been sub par, but clearly they will be far more indepth this time around. 8 Docs as opposed to, what, the One that was on the last dvd?

I don't mind that they're releasing both single and a double disc versions. What they need to stop is the full- and widescreen versions. Drop the full screen altogether.

Just FYI: Warner Bros. is releasing Goblet on BluRay on April 11th. Let the format wars begin!
If you watch the trailer for the dvd, it cleary makes a point of saying there are 8 Making of Documentaries. Like I said in my previous post, 5 items that are listed as "games" in the description of the features on this site are actually making of documentaries. Harry vrs. the Horntail, Meeting the Champions, In to Deep, The Maze: The Third Task, and he who must not be named are all making of features. There is also the one on the Yule Ball, and the Reflections on the Fourth Film. That makes 7, and the trailer said 8, so presumably there is one more.
There is only 2 making of features on the DVD. If you look at the backcover you clearly see only 2 and those are about the Yule ball and one about the fourth film. So I have no idea where you see 8 documentarys

I think there will be a commentary track, because on mugglenet they have an offical trailer from WB that mentions "filmmaker commentary" so maybe it's just not listed (I hope so). But I don't think any of the other titles from WB that I have contain a commentary track (though there are a few that I want to get with commentaries). Now I'm just wondering about the casing, I personally think that the two disc one comes in a keepcase with a slipsleeve around it, also I'm wondering if there will be an insert because I know WB doesn't do inserts, but PoA came out after they stopped doing inserts, but it had one, so will this one have an insert?
LLcruize wrote: Matthew, excellent point and why, to me, the Potter DVD's are severely lacking. We should be getting releases like what Jackson did with LOtR.
Release a 2 disk theatrical edition and then 4 months later, for the diehard readers, release a 3 or 4 disk extended cut to add in that exposition from Rawling's books as well as commentary tracks. Unlike the LOtR where you had Jackson directing all of the films, here, we have the directors switching out every film now. So the director should have more time to be able to work on a more extensive release. I mean, come on, Jackson showed it can be done and none of these directors can say they are any busier than Jackson was from 1997 to 2003.
I for one am tired of the hack games they are wasting space for on these releases. I know this is a children's book story, but when you put out a PG13 film but fill the disks up with G-rated material, it just doesn't make for a proper release.
Again, while there are *3* games on this release, there are 8 making of documentaries, sure to give great insight into the creative process, and something the other dvd's were sorely lacking. The main post about the features listed on this DVD is extremely misleading. It lists 5 Making of Documentaries as games. If it was clarified, it might cause people to stop complaining about how this dvd has no good features, when clearly it will.

Hefty?!?! I'd hardly call $1.99 a hefty difference.
What I meant was when this come out, the sale price on the single disc will be deep-discounted to the $14.99-$16.99 range, but the two-disc will still be a the $22.99-$24.99 price point.
Granted, the week after, the price will go back to the $19.99 for the single-disc. A small difference, to be sure, but why won't retailers sell the 2-disc at a lower rate is beyond me.
It happend on Batman Begins, Charlie and the Choc. Factory, War o' the Worlds, Constantine, etc.

Matthew, excellent point and why, to me, the Potter DVD's are severely lacking. We should be getting releases like what Jackson did with LOtR.

It was the change in cinematographers. Roger Pratt (he was also the DP for "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" ) and replaced Michael Seresin, who was the DP for the third movie. I thought Newell would retain Seresin for "Goblet", but I didn't think the visual style hurt the film. What hurt the film was that it didn't thoroughly explain what happened in the end -- in all honesty, had they extended the movie a bit for necessary exposition, it would've been a better film than "Prisoner". Not that I hate "Goblet", it's my second favorite HP film.

I'm getting tired of these separate single disc and 2 disc editions. What happened to the days when there was the one 2 disc edition offered at a reasonable price..and inserts! Anyway, the DVD Trailer for the 2 disc says Director commentary track, don't know why it wasn't mentioned in press or on art.

I completely agree. Visually, this film was not nearly as stunning as the thrid was. What's really amazing to me is this: It is clear now that the final films will most likely be huge, international smash hits. I remember when the first came out, and it was announced that seven films would be made over a little less than a decade; I thought to myself, no way--only a horror franchise or Star Wars can get away with a string of films that long. And everyone can admit that horror franchises that long are absolutely terrible--the original always seems to be the best and most popular. As I read the previous posts, it is obvious that is not the case with this franchise. And Star Wars had almost a 20 year gap between films--a lot of time to build hype. It's just amazing that WB is actually going to pull this off--with actors who are quickly aging, multiple directors and books that are long enough to be turned into dozens of movies. Amazing.

I can't wait to see this movie. Missed it in the theaters when it was here.
Artwork's all right but everyone looks too artificial and fake. Wow 4 sets. That's crazy. However, I don't see the need to release a box set EVERY SINGLE DVD RELEASE. Just wait for all of the films to come out less than a decade from now and THEN release the damn 7-Movie-14-Disc Box Set. Now THAT, I'd buy.
And wow, HP fanatics flew all over here. I mean come on, they're dominating the internet. Has anyone seen the rigged IMDb Best of 2005 Polls? HP fanatics must die for what they did to IMDb. My Two Cents.
And of course, the best film yet. 9/10

Both cover arts are terrible. I'm not sure whether to save the cash and just go with the one-disc, though. A great film nevertheless. 10/10
just waiting for 8disc set, but should wait the R3 version
Glad I got a choice. I'm buyin the single disc ws edition. Btw the 2-disc ws edition grey boarder looks ugly. I already own the trilogy boxset of Potter. Glad to see this one gotta PG-13 rating.
Cant Wait. I'm buyin the boxeed set I never got the chance to buy the others.
Where's the rumored commentary?!
Why are there gonna be so many damn versions on DVD?
Why are there gonna be so many damn versions on DVD?
While I wasn't a huge fan of this one, I already own the other three (which are 2-discs) so might as well go for the two-discer on this one as well. Plus, it's not that much more especially if I get it in its first week.
Ahhh.. Emma Watson <3

This is the best Harry Potter film yet and definitely one of the best films of 2005. It seems to me that like the books, the films grow and become better. The artwork is awesome and the special features seem very nice so I can't wait! This also seems to be the fastest release of a HP film from cinema to dvd, and I'm not complaining.
I've checked the Warner Home Video site (you can preorder the DVD there), and for the 2-disc edition, there is an English 2-channel Dolby Surround track included with the English and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. And I checked other Warner releases that had a commentary and they had the same track. So there will be a director's commentary on the 2-disc edition, it's just not mentioned on the packaging or on the press releases.
So does anyone here think that the first two movies will EVER be rereleased in a good keep case? I refuse to buy them until they do (I do own the third).

Director and writer commentary track and finally, the kids together on another track. There is no excuse for the lack of these other than we are being set up, like with Begins, for a major double dip where we get the really good stuff. The extras to date on these DVD's are standard fluff. I appreciate Warners upfront attitude with the single and double disks, but somehow I think this concession is to pacify us for the double dip coming. I hope they don't try and pull the new technology game on us; release more comprehensive versons of all these DVD's on the new Blu-ray or HD-DVD (can't remember which Warner's signed on for) and slight the old technology. I also have to echo the sentiment that Warners should have kept with the style of casing and art they used for the first two movies. From a pure collector/presentation respect, having to releases in cardboard slip cases in drawn style followed by two in plastic photorealistic styles (not to mention Goblet uses a new "widescreen" banner"
doesn't make for a "clean" collection. But that is a very slight complaint.
As for the movie, enjoyed this one a lot more than the bore known as The Pisoner of Azkaban. I know many hailed that as a better, darker film than the previous two. But darker doesn't always mean better. Just look at the box office as Azkaban slipped way down. Goblet kept the faithful as well as brought back in the general population, while offering us the best performances among the kids yet. It was still dark, with the first death of the series, yet still managed to become the 2nd highest grossing in the franchise.
Warner Bros. is so bad with commentaries. I am still p**sed that we did not get a Tim Burton/John Williams commentary on "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". They have one together on everyother film they did together, but the s**t-for-brains DVD producers over there ruined it.
I would love commentaries with the people you mentioned above. These films are the few that I would really like to welcome a double-dip. Sometimes they are really pointless, but these are, in my opinion, great films and deserve a real DVD Special Edition treatment. Show us how you made the films, and the after thoughts of the cast and crew. Not a bunch of games and s**t. Warner Bros. can do awesome Two-Disc Special Edition DVD, and other times they such. The new DVD for "Heat" and "King Kong" were amazing. "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" was a decent film, I enjoyed it and deserves better than what its been given here. But I will take what I can get with this release, it just leaves more to be desired.
In all fairness, this dvd release clearly has far more making of features then the others. If you watch the trailer for the dvd, it says there are 8 making of documentaries, as well as interviews with cast and crew, and a Filmmaker's commentary. Whether or not that's a real audio commentary, the dvd does in fact contain a large amount of making of material, a huge step up from the others.

been waiting for this box set....looks good to me, I do wish there were commentary tracks! i'm sure they will be in the NEXT box set
"multiple interactive games (Dragon Challenge, Harry vs. the Horntail: The First Task, Meet the Champions, Lake Challenge, In Too Deep: The Second Task, Maze Challenge, To the Graveyard and Back Challenge, The Maze: The Third Task and He Who Must Not Be Named)"
A bit of a mistake here. Harry vs. the Horntail: The First Task,, Meet the Champions, In Too Deep: The Second Task, The Maze: The Third Task, and and He Who Must Not Be Named are all behind the scenes making of features, not games. Just thought i'd clarify, it makes it seem as though the dvd will be laking in making of features, when it probably won't be.
This DVD really does have alot more making of features then the others.

In my opinion I think the art is getting worse as they go on! I still like #4's art, but they seem to be getting more boring! I think theres so much more you could do with a Harry Potter cover.
Can't wait for this dvd. I'm not a fan of the books (not a fan of reading in general lol, more of a movie watcher), but this movie looks great! Didn't take the time to go see it in theaters, so this will be a blind buy for me.
I'll pick it up. Good movie, but Prisoner of Azkaban was better (which is funny, since I come down the opposite way when it comes to the books).
All right! A quick release that I care about. I think the movies have been improving each time, as have the book up to and including #4. I think #5 dipped a bit before the outstanding #6.
Anyway, great movie, and I'm not at all concerned about a re-issue on the double disc sometime in the near future. While no commentary track (that we know of) it's a truly feature packed set. As for JK ever doing a commentary, I sincerely doubt it. Of what little I know about her, she's very private. She very rarely even does interviews. I don't think the HP movies will be re-released with new features until they come out on HD/Blu-Ray. And probably not until all of the forthcoming movies are released as well, which I'm guessing will be around 2010. Maybe the HD/Blu debate will be settled by then.

WTF. What is up with that high price? I mean, I know the retail at the stores will be lower, but man. I though DVD prices were coming down over time, not going up as is the case with this.
That said, I seriously can't wait to get this. I love the HP movies and the books. I really loved this latest one, and since I own the first three, I will for sure add this to my collection. And the double disc for sure. I love features, and I agree that a commentary on these films (especially from JK Rowling) would be awesome. I am pre-ordering this ASAP. Can't wait!!!!!

But one question: Why are they floating above the water?
My favorite book and movie is Prisoner of Azkaban, but Goblet of Fire comes darn close movie-wise. Goblet of Fire would have been my favorite movie if, and this is going to sound petty, John Williams had done the score. I own the Harry Potter soundtracks, and the music in GoF was not as magical and haunting as John Williams' scores for the first three. His themes in Prisoner are so awesome. I hope they get him back for the upcoming last three movies. The only complaint I had about Prisoner was the case. I really liked the digipaks for Sorcerer and Chamber, but what can you do? I love this cover art, too. Can't wait for this, good thing it's not much of a wait...
I really wanted to love this film, but came up pretty disappointed. Like the other DVD releases, the apparent exclusion of a commentary track is a disappontment. I had hoped that Warner would give us adults who like these movies a little bit more substance on this release, but oh well. I'm still holding out hope that they at least do away with the overly frustrating menu system.
In this case it's a good thing - the book was WAY too long and wasn't very good - kind of muddled. I liked how the movie was alot tighter.

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE (2005)
This was such a good movie. Not as good as HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN but better than HARRY POTTER AND THE SOCERER'S STONE and HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS. For a minute there I thought that Warner Bros was only doing a single-disc but then I scrolled down to see a Two-Disc Special Edition as well. That is the one I'm getting. And March 4th is like so soon! I cant wait!

Their is supprose ot be commentary from Mike Newell. It's says so on ********
This dvd has already been announced as a date-to-date release with DVD. The WB is supporting both Blu-ray and HD-DVD.
Never read any of the books, but this was the first movie in the series that even I could tell large chunks of things had been omitted in the film version, which leads me to believe that the movie needed a bit more work in the screenplay and editing areas to make it flow a bit more smoothly. Other than that it was decent, but still my least favorite of the four movies.
Like the other DVD releases, the apparent exclusion of a commentary track is a disappontment. I had hoped that Warner would give us adults who like these movies a little bit more substance on this release, but oh well. I'm still holding out hope that they at least do away with the overly frustrating menu system.

My least favorite book in the series but one of my favorite films in the series....definitely must buy. And I like the cover.

But the movie was released only in November?

again with this double and single disc bullish. I hope WB don't repeat this trend with their HD releases
I wish there was a commentary, but oh well. I'm definantely getting the double disc (looks like the return of the digipak), though I like the single disc version's art better. This 4th film was the best and cant wait to own it!
Hey, LL - I know the artwork says different, but there was a rumor flying around that "Goblet" was going to carry a Mike Newell commentary. I've been frustrated with a lack of these as well, so i'm hoping the rumors are, indeed, true.
And hey - Skywalker? Welcome to DVDActive, but take yourself off caps lock. It's considered shouting, which is thereby considered rude. Happy posting, bro...

Only a month and a half away. YAY!
THIS IS SO COOL!!!!!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT THE WHOLE YEAR LONG!!!!!!! AND THE COVER ART ROCKS!!!!!!!
My continual dismay with the Potter DVD's is that they all lack a comprehensive "making of" and the greatest slight of all, a commentary track. Both of these ommissions with every one of the DVD releases screams DOUBLE DIP from the roof of Hogwarts. You know that JK Rowling will make one hell of a commentary track.

This art is okay. I don't like that it reflects how much more of an Action movie it is, it seems like such a typical blockbuster DVD cover compared to previous artwork. At the same time though, #4 was kind of a summer action movie.
Let me say I really like how Warner does the single disc and the two disc editions
