Quote: Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemorts defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Okay, I still watch my DVDs, I haven't sold them or anything. And the reason I am happy that the DVD is included with the BD, is because I only have one BD player. I am in the same boat - I will not sell my extensive DVDs just to go to Blu-Ray - too much money for things I will only watch a few times - and with DVD up-scaling there is no real need to....

Ill get the 2 disc set of the current since the HP 1-6 box set appears to be one disc (the movies) with none of the other bonus features that were in the original release. Basically its a 6 disc set - the original releases contain more than the 6 disc box set..
I also havent gone Blu yet since I am content with the quality I have already..someday I may go blu but its not required for me..

This movie was amazing! I saw nothing wrong with it. I saw this twice in the movie theaters. Better than that piece of c**p Transformers 2. I will be picking this up!
Best of the HP films hands down and definately one of my favorite of the year! A BD pick up will be great for me and then the family can take the DVD since they don't wanna upgrade to BD. Is it just me or is releasing those boxsets kind of dumb? All they do is add another film, but it still isn't "complete" seeing as the final film hasn't been released. I dunno, maybe it is just me who finds it weird.

Oh, and the cover looks like it's a lenticular one, combining the teaser posters with Harry and Dumbledore & Malfoy and Snape.

Another pointless box set. I'm waiting for the blu one coming after DH part 2. Heck yes. The whole sha-bang.

that box set they made for the first five movies was pretty damn sweet and i'm not even a fan. that woulda been the time to make empty slots.
i still cant believe people will buy these collections fully knowing the series isnt done. i mean its not like most movies where we just assume there will be more then wait and see. from day 1, people knew each book would become a movie.

Nice cover to Blu-Ray Box Set.
I'll actually still get the 3-Disc Blu-Ray and then when both parts of "Deathly Hallows" are completed, I'll get all 8 films in Ultimate Collector's Edition boxset rather than a regular box set like this, even though it'll contain all 8 films, because I won't mind keeping a theatrical version right now since not all films are released, but asap, I'll get a box set theatrical/director's cut containing all eight films of the series (including the DH split).
Still, I'm just buying the 3-Disc Blu-Ray. I have all five films on DVD.
BTW, this is the best Potter film since Azkaban.

Artwork added for the 1-6 Giftsets
Why don't they put the YEAR 6 labels on the Blu-rays? I have 1-4 on DVD but 5 on BD, and it doesn't have the Year 5 label on the spine. It looks really cool when you look at them from the side and they Years 1-6 going through.
This is my favorite of the series, thus far; but it will likely be surpassed by a least one of the final two installments in the next two years.
Definite day-one purchase.
Definite day-one purchase.
This will definitely be a buy for me. I really enjoyed this installment and saw it twice in the theaters. I keep waffling on whether it's better than Azkaban or not, but either way it's definitely one of the best HP outings.
Blu-Ray cover looks better than 2-Disc DVD cover only b/c there is no 2-Disc Digital Copy on the top.

I, too, was disappointed, but still enjoyed it. Not enough time was spent delving into Tom Riddle's past. Had there been just 10 to 15 minutes more of exploring that, this would be my favorite film in the franchise. The fact that they spent more time on the subplots of the novel rather than the actual plot irks me. There were friends and co-workers of mine who have never read the books and they came out scratching their heads as to the overall point of the film. PoA is still my favorite.
And they handled a certain death scene the same way they handled the major death scene from the previous installment. There was no emotion whatsoever in either case, and again, that really irks me the way those were shot.
Will I be buying this? I'm done buying the Potter flicks until they release the entire series in a Blu boxset. I have 1 thru 5 on DVD, and will definitely upgrade.
I love the Blu art. I was hoping they would use that image of Harry Potter. That was set as my phone and PS3 XMB screen for 2 weeks leading up to the film's release.

Agreed. Tons of Blu-ray on Amazon are $12-15 and some are even $10-11. So it's definitely not that expensive IMHO. Actually, majority of BDs now are $20 or under.
Almost all of my BDs are from the US, it's really useful to follow the 'latest deal' function at bd.com and ruvic's thread at HDD.

A bit boring for the kids this one, i thought it was O.K. Still the same old Grange Hill acting and poor script, directing. If only Terry Gilliam had adapted the first 3 books, now THAT is something i'd have loved to have seen.
This is the best one yet IMO, it really felt like the book, which is my favorite of the books along with Deathly Hallows. Can't wait to see this again, especially as i missed parts of it as two guys in their 20's talked really loud to one another and they ended up in a fight with this other guy and his girlfriend as they didn't shut up. It was all quiet after that. I never thought i'd be watching a fight during a Harry Potter screening. That's weird.

Best of the HP movies after PoZ! I thought the series was gonna suck after OotP, since it was so bad but no, this totally exceeded my expectations! Ill still be holding out for that one massive Blu Ray set when all the movies have come out though

Harry's wearing the title as a hat in both of them ... actually the 1 disc looks like he's trying really hard to keep it balanced on his head.
I don't know if I like the facial expressions on the characters in the art. Also the comments have me laughing

Uh, that was what the sixth book focused on too. It wasn't just romance and broken hearts, but about Voldemort's ascent to power and how it's affecting Harry and the rest of the Hogwarts students.
The 2-part "Deathly Hallows" will be a grand return to the drama, but this movie wasn't lacking that either.

OMG! Much better than the overhyped "Order of the Phoenix," but almost as good as "Prisoner of Azkaban." It sure beats the others but it's definitely on my wishlist.
I have to admit that the 1-Disc artwork looks totally unnecessary. The film doesn't take place in a park or something.

Nice, although if they could get rid of the obnoxious "Digital Copy" banner on the 2-disc, I'd be happier. Just stick with "2 Disc Special Edition" and we'll be fine, thanks.
Decent flick. Nothing beats the books though. The cover art could be worse.

Terminator: Salvation underperformed at the box-office ($125 million), while Harry Potter and Hangover grossed over $270 million apiece. I expect Warners to announce a 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray any day now for Hangover -- that way exceeded Warners' expectations.

wow, 2 disc means nothing here, one is just a digital copy, that sucks, loved this one though.
The documentary "A Day in the Life of J.K. Rowling" is supposed to be included on the 2-disc DVD, as well as deleted scenes, a behind-the-scenes look at the movie, and a sneak peek at the upcoming theme park. I don't know why they're not saving the documentary for the final 2-part movie, since that deals with J.K.R. writing the final book.
I like the artwork for the single-disc and the 2-disc. I'd almost bet money ALL the features will be on the first disc, per the usual from Warner's Digital Copy Editions.

Absolutely beautiful covers. I hope they retain the same artwork of the 2-disc for the Blu-ray. I love the routine of the 3-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo packages. You can have a copy of the Blu-ray, and if a friend doesn't have this yet, there's a DVD copy. Chamber of secrets is still my favorite Potter film, but Half-Blood prince is right behind. Sadly, I might not be buying. I loved the film, but I don't buy Blu-rays constantly.
One of my favourite installments in the series, i hope they include the Imax scenes on the Blu-Ray Disc, the opening scene was amazing.
I liked this one. More character driven than the earlier installments have been, which was a snoozefest for some people but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I wonder if Target will have a letch cover like for Year 4 and 5
Blu-Ray/DVD Combo eh? Very interesting indeed. Was one of the things that got me into HD-DVD was buying the combos and deciding to give it a go.
I would've preferred the teaser poster, but the 2-disc cover is OK. At least the whole title is on there, unlike in most of the promo artwork where it's hidden behind the characters and cut off by the sides.
