I'm waiting for the super mega ultimate editions at the 25 year anniversary of the 1rst movie that will include all 8 extended editions, the S.P.E.W. TV series that never aired and the 2 hour long pilot S.P.E.W. Movie! It will also include a gold plated version of the controversial vibrating HP broom stick!
WOW. Tempting, but I won't get it, but I have 1-4 on DVD only, but then the box-set after the 7th, but this is really cool, but....
I already own all the DVDs on seperate 2-disc special editions, as well as the Ultimate Collector's Edition box set that came out in winter 2007 (with the release of the 5th film), but these are a must-have. I'm a huge Harry Potter fanatic, and I'm so excited to own these, as well as the ones for the remaining 6 movies.
It's ok. I knew this would happen eventually which is why I have always netflixed these films. In 2011 when the mega box set of all 8 films in their extended forms hits Blu-ray, then I'll buy. I've done enough double and triple dipping with Star Trek films. I will buy Harry Potter only once.
If this new documentary, split out over the various films, is anything like the one Warner Bros. did for the release of the pre-Nolan Batman films boxset, that is a major selling point. The new cuts of the films is also another selling point. However, not to have cast, screenwriter/author, & director commentaries, still, is a huge reason I will probably skip this. I am a commentary junky and for a franchise such as this not to have any is absolutely rediculous and utlimately smells of a quadruple dip by Warner Bros. once all of the films are out.
That's exactly what these bloated messes need. Longer cuts. God, how I hate the first two Potter films...
I will wind up getting the Half-Blood Prince instead of those re-releases but I'll end up getting all the HP films in a boxset including these two and HBP after the Deathly Hallows films.
Wow, I thought 2-disk editions were enough. Guess I was wrong.
A little early AGAIN!
Jesus! I still have yet to buy a single HP movie because we all know that once Deathly Hollows is released to BD/DVD we will see an uber boxed set. 21 or 24 disk BD box. or alt 28 DVD disks
These 4 disc sets should be 3 discs. Hasn't Warner Brothers ever heard of seemless branching? It's not like they have commentaries. I can't believe they're using separate discs for a 7 and a 13 minute extended cut.
These do look tempting since there labeled by year so it could fit with the rest. But I still think I will wait till the last one is on blu ray for some sort of collection.
Sweet DTS-MA!!!!
$49 for one Dvd. Damn. The regular editions are fine with me.

WB is going to rape this franchise for every last penny and we all know it. The problem is, after Deathly Hallows what can we expect? 7 Ultimate Editions, 7 Wide Screen Editions, 7 Extended Limited Editons, 7 Director's Cut Editions, the possibility of about at least 4 complete box sets with all 7 movies and not to mention Collector's Editions of all of the above with so many extras, books, bangles, cards, pewter figurines and so forth that it boggles the mind. Funny thing is, there'e somebody sitting in Burbank, CA getting paid serious coin to figure out ways and editions that would best exploit this franchise until there is nothing left. I can't wait to see what rolls down the hill in the next few years.
And I don't think there's an edition possible to save the tripe of an outing of the Half-Blood Prince. Seriously, a dreadful movie in every sense of the word.

I'm waiting for a definitive box set of all 7 (sorry, 8) films on Blu. These extended cuts sound intriguing, though. Hopefully I'll be able to NetFlix them and see if it would be worth waiting for the Ultimate Extended Cuts Boxset. Here's hoping they do make an extended cut of Half-Blood Prince so they can put more focus on Tom Riddle...
I just noticed that the logos are plastered like HBP and the cover designs are more in-line with OotP and HBP...

While these sets look awesome and are pretty much every Potter fan's wet dream, I don't see the point in releasing them now and separately. These are only for the die hard fans, and considering they own the current editions(myself included), why not just wait and release this all in an ultimate definitvie series collection. Which is what is going to happen anyway (I hope) once it is all said and done and that's what I'll be waiting for if I'm going to double dip (which I've already have for the current blu-ray editions anyway).
Yawn, wake me up for Prisoner of Azkaban. The only one which I'll buy.
It seems like all the extended editions are doing is essentially re-inserting the deleted scenes seen on the DVD back into the film. No exclusive deleted scenes held back for the first two films, anyway.
Now, if the ultimate editions of 'Azkaban' through 'Phoenix' include more than that (such as that 3-hour cut of OOTP Yates was talking about), I'd be thrilled. These first two sets look awfully nice, though.

Really? I thought it was a marked improvement over Yates' previous Potter outing -- the cinematography was just amazing. Or did you not like that the writer and director took liberties with the source novel again?

Thats what you get for J. K. Rowling signing on the dotted line with WB.

Hoping for substantial extended cuts for Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince...
I love this series.
But I'm not terribly interested in how they made the movies.
A simple single-disc set for all 8 movies (or "7 Years" if you prefer) will be enough when the time comes.
Look like awesome packages, though.

Let's not go overboard...HBP was actually a decent movie...but if WB had any wits about them (and let's face it - they don't), they wouldn't even hire Yates in the first place and let Curaon or someone else direct the final films.

Can't wait for these! Not a big fan of the covers, though... orignal poster art was far superior.
After buying every DVD 2 disc editions of each flim and getting burned on WB's c**ppy extra's. I think I'll pass on these till I hear they are worth it.
Of all the Harry Potter films to get extended cuts, the first two are the ones that don't need one. While I liked the first two, I think the theatrical length is just fine. I'll stick with my regular blu rays.
When all the movies are like this and in one box set, then I'll buy them. Until then, I can wait.

Yeah either way I'm still getting HBP, because I have the first five on DVD and the fact that I thought this one beats out all of them. Either way if they are going to make another extended cuts for the other follow-ups - I might as well wait till there's a box set to do so.
