Hands down, best Blu-ray announcement of the year. Only a BR treatment of Taxi Driver could top this. Been waiting for this ever since having a HT set-up that supports True-HD and imagining how the bankrobbery would sound on it.

Casino and Goodfellas are already out on blu-ray.
Will pick this up day one. I wish "The Insider" would get a blu-ray release as well. Amazing Michael Mann movie that you rarely hear people talk about.

Marketing: Hey, we need a cover for Heat on blu-ray. Here's the one-sheet as inspiration.
Designer: Oh wow, this is far too aesthetically pleasing. I mean sure, it's got my signature "stupid floating heads" design, but look at the sense of mood and interest conveyed by all that...good design sense in the rest of it...no. It just won't do!

Finally! The two best actors of all time in one of the greatest crime thrillers ever made...now on Blu-ray! Can't wait to bookmark the classic scene where both Pacino and De Niro are talking face to face in the restaurant! Day...one...purchase!!
I must agree the best blu news for a catalog release to come in a while. Also according to thedigitalbits the disc will feature an all new HD-transfer suppervised by Director Michael Mann himself. Hey must we forget The Negotiator is also a top notch cop thriller.
Awesome news. Day one buy.
Agreed. One of my favorite movies, will pick it up for sure - can't wait!
The PQ better not disappoint...

Sweet-ola!...we got Heat and Public Enemies coming this fall, now we just need a Collateral announcement for a Michael Mann Trifecta!
FINALLY, love this movie! Awesome soundtrack beginning and end. Love the way some of the sequences and music went together. Even thou Al & Robert only had 5-8 minutes of screen time together on this movie. Can't wait to hear this in 5.1 Dolby True HD and HD Picture.
Yes, finally one of my favorite movies of all time comes out on Blu-Ray. Can't wait for this to release. Will be there at midnight to pick it up.
Awesome news! Now I can put the DTS JP DVD to rest then, absolutely can't wait for this to come out already!
I really like the awful looking and probably physics defying motion blurs on the centre robber, who is in a stationary standing position.
Day-one-buy. November 3rd is looking at as a pocket-emptying day with Edge of Darkness: The Complete BBC Series, North by Northwest - 50th Anniversary Edition BD, and this all getting released.
Such a splendid movie, cant wait to get this!
I'm so getting this. I hope it's been remastered as the SE uses the same transfer as the original 1 disc and that was average at best.
Be interested to know what the changes are. This is a no-brainer anyway, definitely getting it when it's out over here.
"11 additional scenes"
so ummm...do they mean in the actual movie or is this their fancy way of saying new deleted scenes?

I wonder what the "content changes" are. Why does every director have to follow in the footsteps of George Lucas? So what, this movie is going to be 3 1/2 hours long now?
Not unless dividing 170 minutes by 60 gives you that figure.
November cannot come soon enough. A little typo there Tom with the '0180p'. Otherwise, all extras look splendid, 11 additional scenes, count me in on that!
Hopefully it will be the seemless branching type of thing so we can watch the original version if we so choose!
It's still 170 minutes (according to the back cover) so I would imagine the changes will be relatively minor to an audience unless a direct comparison is done. Possibly just colour timing changes or bumping up the sound mix, the film is nearly 15 years old and as good as the mix is, the new HD sound formats might highlight a few areas that could be beefed up. I hope it is still 170mins. The film is a long (but good) haul as it is. It doesn't need to be longer.

I read somewhere Michael Mann re-graded a few scenes, and digitally corrected some flawed shots. For example, the scene with "De Niro" "firing" his gun out the window.

Man, just under 3 months from the release of this puppy. The wait is already agonizing.....
