Unless you can say that Pioneer is not paying any royalties to Sony, that is, by definition, propriatary media. Sorry...
You know royalties are going to Microsoft for movies encoded in VC1 format (most of the HD-DVD titles are in encoded in that opposed to H.264 for *most* Blu-ray titles) =)
Anyways Sony or not.. let's support the better "spec'd" format.

This show just flat-out SUCKS! I've tried watching it a few times to give it a chance, and it's just awful. Ridiculous acting, poor special effects....it goes on and on.

Blu Ray is in no way "Crushing" HD-DVD, and Universal is under no pressure to "cave". You will see dual format players far sooner than Universal stuff on Sony propriatary media... Neither format will "win" for a very long time (if ever), and both are in danger of remaining a niche format for many years to come...
Actually, yeah, Blu-ray is definitely crushing HD-DVD when you compare sales figures. I'm not saying that HD-DVD will cave, I'm saying Universal will. The world is too stuborn for anyone to back down, they'll fight until one side goes bankrupt. Studios like WB and Paramount are doing the best thing by releasing in both formats. While I'm on the Blu-ray side I do despise the one-side studios who only release in Blu-ray or only in HD-DVD. Let the consumer choose. WB is formatting "Full-HD" discs that are playable in either HD-DVD or Blu-ray players. That is a step in the right direction. Sony has an advantage over Toshiba right now, which is why HD-DVD players are seeing price drops like crazy.

"Sony proprietary media" < WTF - Stop spreading FUD!!!!!!
I can go out and buy a pioneer blu-ray burner now and burn a tonne of movies in DiVX on a 50gb TDK blu-ray disc as I could with a HD-DVD burner and a 15gb burnable disc.

Yes.
As for the show, I loved it, but stopped watching about half way through, so I'm going to get the HD-DVD set. And, people complaining about the price. How often have you seen these DVDs sold at the SRP. Look at Amazon, the HD-DVD set is $70 on there, so it'll probably be around there in stores.

Great idea for a show but poor writing and acting make this a dissapointment. Since when does being a schizo count as a superhero power?
hated this..realy boring show......my opinion.
Awesome menus. I'm glad they used Issac's paintings.

They should've used the marketing poster with the New York skyline and clouds and actors heads at the bottom. I watch the show, but I know if I buy a serialized show then I will never get the urge to watch a single episode. I did love Company Man though.

I HATE the cover art. I'd much rather have seen an other artsy kind of art like nip/tuck has.
A nice picture, say maybe, the one of New York blowing up ? Not the painting, but a screenshot of the visual ? shown in ep 2 or 3 or something

Not when a single disc HD-dvd reatails for $29.99, your getting 7 discs.

It'd be immensely confusing if they did do a DVD/HD-DVD combo release of "Heroes" -- the set would have to clarify which side was HD/SD, which episodes were on each side and they'd be dual-sided to boot.
And I hope Universal goes back to full color artwork for this release instead of being barren. Imagine, you could have seven of the most important characters in the season (such as Hiro and Sylar) on the discs, and it'd look cool too.
I love the eclipsed sun sun artwork. I think it is simplest most effective logo I've ever seen. I'm glad they are using it. I would hate to see some cheesy pose, which is what you see in the advertising from Universal.

I just hope that Universal gives the HD DVD of Battlestar Galactica the same type of love when Season One comes out in September.
I haven't seen this show yet but I will pick up the HD DVD set. I haven't spoken to anyone who hasn't loved it.

It's probably not called "Volume I" because Season 2 will span more than one volume. Kring said that Volume II will last half of the season (or something) and then onto Volume III. Better to just call it a 'season'.
I am not happy about the HD-DVD exclusives, but I will probably pick up the SD-DVD release anyway.

Never saw the show but all the buzz has me curious. HD for me pls.
Way too much money; wouldn't pay $70 for Smallville, much less for this...

Now that the season is over Mondays will be boring until I get this sucker. Can't wait to watch the whole season straight through.

Season 6 was definitely better than Season 3- it may have been the least plausible season due the radically evolving plot, but at least there were a lot of cool gunfights and exciting episodes. Once Nina died, season 3 just became a snore for like 14 episodes.

I've heard great things about this - I may give it a try...
I just caught up with this show last week and I love it. This is the first television drama I've ever followed for a whole season. They usually bore the hell out of me by the 4th or so episode.
You know, I DO watch this but has anyone else noticed, for a show about superheroes and as the supposed "new" Lost - isn't it just dreadfully DULL?
There's not really anything brilliant about it, despite all the hype, and the characters are pretty bland too. I'm waiting on it picking up or something, because so far its very... meh.

All season long they've called individual episodes "chapters" and have referred to this season and next as "Volumes".
Other than that, I'm pumped, and I like the simplistic art design. It's better than one that includes the characters, but would surely neglect some of the ensemble.
This is only the preliminary cover art. The final cover art could very well say volume 1, which is more interesting than saying season 1(US) or series 1(UK).

Who says the 2nd season will start in early September (assuming that's what you're thinking). I'd bet the new season doesn't start until October, at least. and with this show, you'll be watching 2-3 episodes in a row, I guarantee it. So in a few weeks, you'll be all caught up. And believe me, it's worth it.

I really hope they do something with that cover. Very boring. Good show though, but I still love the Battlestar.

love the show. love the list of extras. tHe cheerleader is cute, but Hiro is cool.
This was the new series that I was most looking forward to seeing but missed every episode. I plan to blind buy the season and I must say I love the box art. I'm glad it's this and not a standard cast pic
Best show on TV right now
The last 3 minutes of the finally will be the first 3 minutes of season 2. The mind reading cop was on MARTHA today, don't ask why I was watching Martha. And he said that's what will happen.
I would love to get the HD set, since I just got a new HD LCD TV, just haven't got a bluray/hd player yet. But I have have a strange feeling Blue-ray is gonna win. SO holding out till prices of players drop in a few years

I really love this show. Definitely getting the set. That cover art is really boring though. I like simplistic, but that's going a bit too far with it.
I only caught the middle of this show and I was really into it, but then i never ended up continuing. However, I'll most likely buy this set.
I can't wait to see this show, so many people have told me I'll love it, but I don't like jumping into something halfway through. Glad to see it's coming out before season 2 premieres.
Chris Gould wrote: Might have to get this so my Mrs can get her fill of Hayden.Hey I may have to just buy this just to get my fill of Hayden. And yes, it is the cheerleader outfit
Eh. The show left a lot to be desired when I last left off watching it (after the Save the Cheerleader, Save the World arc, I believe). Stock characters, none of which have been developed to the point where I really care about them and a snail's pace plot that is madenningly frustrating.
I'll give it another shot though when it's on dvd.

i didn't get to see many episodes of this because i kept missing them, but i'll probably pick this up when it comes out. it's supposed to be really good, and i love shooting through tv serials within a few days on dvd.
Love the extras -- a must-buy for me.
I cannot wait for this but I'd rather have the online comics collected in a hardcover collection, maybe as a special colletors set with the series would be good... ARE YOU LISTENING UNIVERSAL? - A GREAT IDEA THAT COULD NET YOU LOADS OF CASH WHICH YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO COME UP WITH!!!
Might get this. Heard various acclaim, but never watched it. I might buy this one.
This show rocks!! Will be getting this
this was all I heard about and then I had to work the night it primered, plus its on when wrestling comes on,but I am going to pick this up sight unseen...now if Ugly Betty would just come out we'll be good to go!
I've added some early sales artwork. The retail artwork maybe slightly different
Great show. Can't wait for the season finale next Monday and this DVD release.
I have to say this holds much more promise than "Lost", which unfortunately derailed midway through its second season. (I hear the first season of "Heroes" will be a completely different entity, and that Hiro will be the only carryover character in the further seasons.)

Ugh, I was hoping it'd be released earlier in the summer so I could get caught up with the show before i jump into the 2nd season. Watching the episodes on the NBC website is a visual drag, and paying 2 bucks per ep on iTunes is a waste since I'd rather have them on DVD.

Apparently it's because they have nice hair (and not the cheerleader outfit, honest).
