holy s**t thats a lot of money.. i first read it and thought it said 49.99 not 499.99. thats ridiculous but seems like an awesom set
thats pretty good for a set that big, but who would have that kinda money to spend on DVD's
10 bucks a movie isn't bad...however having to buy 50 at once is.
i just cant understand how they make money on these sets. wouldn't musical afficionados have already purchased their favorites from this set a long time ago? I mean a few people with the scratch to afford something like this will get it, but i can't see more than a couple hundred of these being sold world wide.
500 dollars? NO THANKS.
I think if they had priced this at $150 then maybe there would be more interest. Anything above $200 really puts off the home theater crowd. I also don't think anything is new content wise from whats already out there.
no Newsies? no thanks
I'm holding off until they offer the "Every DVD Ever Produced" collection that will retail at $800,000 plus the sacrifice of your first-born child.

$10 isn't bad, but it should be a lot cheaper.
I imagine most of them could be bought seperately for $10 or under if you shopped around.

About the set, I'd love to get it as some how I have only one film from it but It IS a lot of money.

Yeah, I don't get the price either. I mean, look at the very popular show Friends (which I never got into). It has like around 200 eps. which would just about equal the length of all 50 of these films, and you can get that box set for under $200. So, $500? No, thanx.
Probably go for around $400 in the store.
I bet online retailers will run specials on this as well.

I love musicals, but this is ridiculous!
or half that 3 months down the track
Wait, this just hit me, how can they have a legit collector's set of Hollywood musicals with no "Gypsy?!?!"

Gypsy was WB. Although, they are missing a few important ones.

Amazon.com already has this for preorder for only 374.99.
If someone REALLY loved musicals, wouldn't they have most of these titles already? So what's the point?
What they need to do is include one bonus disc not available anywhere else to really bait the hook for the true collector.

I have seen 2 out of those 50:West Side Story and The Fiddler on The Roof. Never been a fan of musicals. West Side Story, Newsies, Grease are the only ones I could stomach. Although Rent was okay and The Phantom of The Opera had it's moments(Complete Babes in that one:Emmy Rossum, Jennifer Ellison). But honestly, I hate musicals.
Fantastic Set, very tempted indeed!
Obviously not a set for the younger DVD buyer - how few of the readers here have known any of the films; how many of you have assumed the Moulin Rouge is "the Nicole Kidman one" - but probably a really naughty indulgence for the older buff.
At 35 I suppose I could include myself in that category.

The only ones I've seen on that list would be The King and I, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Sound of Music, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I've always liked the classic musicals, there's a lot here that I've always wanted to buy, but not quite enough to actually go out and buy them.
I can see myself buying this, but not until the price drops significantly.
The only ones on that list I already own are Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Sound of Music.
Why isn't My Fair Lady on there?
