This site has posted lies about the features for the new Home Alone Dvd, these include: "commentary with director Chris Columbus and Macaulay Culkin which I was really looking foward to hearing! & "'smell-o-vision' feature", an Angels with Filthy Souls feature" again really looking foward to that"
These features are not in the dvd, Shame I really wanted to hear the commentary with director Chris Columbus and Macaulay Culkin thats why I baught the dvd !!!

As a movie fan Home Alone is very important to me. It was my very first movie I saw in theaters, I was 4 years old and I can actually remember it all. So this most DEFINTLY will go into my dvd collection. It's also one of the few movies that my entire family will sit and watch, laugh, and love all together.
I already have the original release so there's no need to upgrade for this one. The special features sound cool but I'm not one to double dip because ultimately it's really just a bonus for me that I'll never even really check out anyway.
The word "Family" scares me, is there anything in this movie they can take away to make it more "family friendly"? (ex: removing guns from ET) I hope it's just ANOTHER ______ Edition name.
Anyway, the previous version is fine for me, and no need to upgrade unless I can get this cheap. Besides, I'd probably use the old box with the new DVD if I did get it.

Yeah, like something along the lines of "Family Fun Edition."
...oh wait.

My only complaint is in the Family Fun banner- a simple Special Edition or Delux Edition banner lwould have done nicely. I'm still picking this up though.
Haha, yeah. The commentary should be fantastic!
ABOUT TIME, indeed!
I'd be happy with just an anamorphic transfer, but an all new commentary by CC and MC?! that was unexpected, and the "Angels with Filthy Souls feature" sounds pretty sweet.
easiest double dip ever.

Why would they anyway? The 1999 release was presented in 1.85:1 non-anamorphic widescreen, and that didn't have a full-screen edition on the flipside either.

This movie came out in theatres when I was 6-7 years old so I was all over it......I still think it's a really good movie today! The 2nd one is good too!
This is exciting, I'll definitely be replacing my existing version with this one...
Good I will get it
Its about time. This is a funny movie.
Suppose it would be good if they made it reversable with a more collectable cover as an alternative.
WHAT A C**P COVER! Do they think people in their 20's like me want to buy a movie with a c**p family cover like that!
The Photoshop gods strike again!
I loved this movie growing up. I watched it all the time. I wanted to watch it again a few years ago, but I forgot there was a tarantula in the movie. That quickly brought an end to watching it. Still, maybe I'll brave it and pick up the DVD anwyway.

Okay I'm definitley excited.
The artwork looks stupid. Why not use the old cover used for the 1999 release and put a "Special Edition" banner on it instead? Well, at least with this release Fox wisely decided not to make up some silly SE title like they did with "9 to 5".

not funny, sure, but you're holding it against a family comedy that it doesn't follow the rules of reality?

Joe Pesci makes this movie. Great childhood movie.
you know I sensed this was coming. I SENSED it.

I dont really like the cover/angles, but I might pick this up eventually. Got the other relase last year for Christmas, and noticed the video quality. The commentary sounds interesting.

The art is OK, but why mess with the original artwork? It's classic.
Also, why don't Chris Columbus get no love? "From John Huges"? Oh well...

One Fox Comedy from this era that finally gets an SE treatment. Anyways, I love this movie and can't wait to pick up this new edition. Now is there going to be a SE of Home Alone 2 coming in the near future, that's the only one of the sequels that I really want in addition to the first film. But I really hope Home Alone is only the first in a string of Family Comedys that came out around this time (late 80's, early 90's), such as Big and Mrs. Doubtfire, that get much deserved Special Editions. release.
I didn't care for Home Alone 3 or Home Alone 4. They started to go downhill with Home Alone 2, but I still really really enjoy that one, so Home Alone 3 was a really big fall.
About damn time. Okay, now where's the SEs for the first two sequels? (I did like "Home Alone 2" and "Home Alone 3", but I despise the carcass that calls itself "Home Alone 4" ).
Finally! I have not bought this movie yet becuase I figured that somewhere down the line a special edition would come...and here it is! I can't wait to own one of my favorite family comedy classics.
I must admit to this movie being a guilty pleasure of mine. I think I'll add it my Christmas list.
I saw Home Alone 2 first, so I kinda always liked that one best, even though looking back, the first is definitely a better film.
I did like the original, but for some reason 2 stays as my favorite. I want a special edition for 2.

There is a Christmas Vacation Special Edition. It came out in 2003.

Better be an equally good SE for the first sequel too -- even if it kinda sucked, who doesn't want both of them to get upgraded?
ABOUT TIME!!!
Hehe, sounds silly. The Chris Columbus/Macaulay Culkin commentary sounds great though.

I believe there will be a card which comes withe the DVD, with scratch and sniff squares marked off by number. When the particular number flashes on screen during the movie, you scratch and sniff the appropriate square.

Yeah, I'll be looking out for the better picture quality as well. The previous release needed a lot of improvement there.
Looks impressive. Hopefully if nothing else it'll have better picture quality than the previous release.
FIRST ONE TO POST! I loved this film, it was a favorite of my childhood. I'll definitely look into this!
