Saw this play at my university's local theater last week and I had a smile on my face the whole way through and well into the night after. Edger Wright is great at making me like his films better than any of the films in the genre he is parodying.

Oh, and yeah - the "O" on the HD-DVD looks completely out of place. What the hell?
Sure, here is the model number:
Philips DVP5960
here is the hack:
This hack was successfully applied to the Philips DVP5960/37.
It is the same hack as with the Philips DVP5140:
1. Turn on the unit
2. Open the loading tray
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key
5. Enter 138931
6. You will now see the current region code displayed
7. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or "0" for all regions
8. Press the "Setup" button on the remote
9. Press "OK" on the remote

Awesome, so looking forward to this. Now why is it coming out so late though, it sucks

Is the soundtrack the original British English or an American English dub? As was the case for Mad Max (from Australian English) and The Full Monty.
I've yet to see the film but am interested in the HD-DVD, pity the USA release loses a fair few extras but I'd prefer an HD Combo which the UK isn't getting.

That's good news if it's true. It's certainly possible given the extra space on the HD-DVD side. The DVD side being only a single disc release obviously cannot store all the same extras. It would be silly not to include them given the HD-DVD side has the space and the extras are there already.
It's a pity they don't have enough faith for a British film to be released in America on 2 discs though.

The O in HOT on the HD-DVD is missing the Sanford police logo. Nice artwork but still gonna order the UK version over this one.
I ordered the UK 2 disc, I couldn't wait til July 31st.Is released on June 11th in UK.
I hope it comes as fast as my order of SPACED and DANGER 5000 VOLTS from Amazon.Co.Uk. I ordered on a sunday, had it on Thursday. Now that is faster then shipping in America.
BTW all, get the Phillps upsacling DVD player from Target. $90 and there is a code to make it region free. I love it. No more having wait for UK dvd's that are released earlier or never released in the USA.

Really good movie.... not great. I think I would benefit from another viewing.
I have a question with these HD DVD/ DVD combos... same stuff on both discs?... I see 300 is a two disc DVD and one disc HD combo... all extras on the 2 disc on the combo??
I don't yet have an HD player, but will around October, so if I'm gonna keep buying movies, might as well get combos for now.

I hear that the HD-DVD will have all the extras present on the R2 2-disc edition. And much thanks to Universal to keeping the Dolby Digital 5.1 EX track rather than downgrading it to plain-jane Dolby Digital 5.1..
will definatley buy the HD version, this movie was superb.
I wish Universal would stop ruining artwork with that banner template.

Ah, just realized this is being released the same day as Shaun of the Dead is on HD. Hopefully somebody'll have a deal going if you buy both.
Saw it in the theatre and thought it was overlong, but once the head-kick came, I forgot all about how long and slow the beginning was and loved the rest of the movie.
HD DVD artwork added.
I can also confirm the standard DVD will be a single-disc only.

Didn't this just come out in theatres?
I cannot wait for this movie to come out. I'm a huge fan of both Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright which I've met them both during the Pittsburgh Premiere of "George A. Romero's Land of the Dead
Gonna be such an awsome DVD.
This is my favourite movie so far this year. I enjoyed this a lot more than I did Shuan of the Dead. I loved the story, the characters and the last 30 minutes were hilarious. I'll buy this DVD, though July is getting crowded with releases, I just hope Universal doesn't release an SE 6 months from now.
Best film of the year. Totally can't wait to buy it.
Best film of the year so far. Just got home from watching this. I went to go see Shrek the Third and happened to see that in addition to Shrek and Pirates playing on 3 and 6 screens (respectively), the tenth screen was occupied by this little gem. I feel bad I paid for Shrek the Third (which was good) and sneaking into this with my friend. We had a blast in this one! MOST DEFINITELY picking this up on day of release.
Incredible movie. For a comedy, incredibly made.
I LOVED Shaun of the Dead(and was a fan of Spaced too),and Hot Fuzz is no exception. I like it better than Shaun of the Dead, and both are in my Top 25 of all time. I will be buying the Region 2 UK 2-Disc and the HD-DVD.
This was hilarious. Not sure if I'll get this though. I may get the region 2 version for the extra disc.
Gee, I would really like to leave a two word response like some people ("I'll pass :S"? C'MON dude!) but I think I'd like to expound on my opinion.
Didn't care for Shaun of the Dead (about 30 minutes too long)....this film is overlong as well but I found it's pacing and total absurdity incredible to watch. Both leads talents are put to way better display here and I really enjoyed the entire thing. The gore is pretty gnarly and gooey too...

No quotes on the cover. Perfect.
Surely the best film I've seen in the past 5 months.

Here comes the FUZZ.
One of the best films of the year by far, and I'm glad they went with that poster art!

this film won my heart by playing XTC and the Kinks.
Of course I liked Pegg Frost and Wright already, too, but I was so enthused to see those two groups brought into greater awareness (and so well/appropriately, too!)...

Blind Buy for me. Really digging the artwork.
Count me in for the HD.
i'll pass :S
shaun of the dead was way better than this movie, it was a tad corny but looking forward in seeing his next movie run fatboy run
Saw this on the Fuzzball Rally in DC, and proceeded to see it four more times in theaters. Already got the 2-disc from Amazon UK, and I'm definitely going to get this version. I've got both US and UK versions of "Shaun of the Dead", so why not?
Wow, that was quick! I was considering buying the R2 to avoid the wait but I suppose I can wait an extra month, I was at least expecting August or September for this one.

A great film.
You can add Pirates 3 on the junk being pursued as well. Such a damn disappointment.
Hot Fuzz looks like a blast. I love Shaun of the Dead, and will pick this up blind with no further questions.

Great cover art.I just hope it has all the extras as the UK release..Just one commentary?
I'm surprised Universal is announcing the DVD release of this movie as it is still playing in 973 theaters in the U.S.. Do they not have faith in word-of-mouth and give it a wider release? I'm pretty sure it'd be a sleeper hit (and it has made more money than "Shawn of the Dead" so far domestically), but like with "Children of Men", Universal is dumping it on DVD a few months after its U.S. release.
Although the cover art is pretty and for a R1 release, it is packed with extras (considering that Universal has a habit of skimping on extras for their more recent releases). But I bet that the Dolby Digital 5.1 track on the DVD won't be EX encoded like the theatrical showings did...

It's a shame this probably won't have near as many features as the R2 set.

A great film.
A great film.
In my home town this movie had the misfortune of opening on the same day as Spider-Man 3. I don't think anyone saw it. Looked good though.
Great to see an HD release but come on those extras are rubbish in comparison.
Missed it as well but will surely get the dvd. Nice artwork as well.
yup, i'm getting the R2 release for sure. I knew we wouldn't get a good release.
Is this only 1-disc? If it is then I'm going for the region 2 disc. I want to see the short film as well.
Saw it while vacation in London, saw it in the states and I'll be importing the region 2 disc since it has the short film on it. Now what cover do I want.... I know HMV has the r1 art for their exclusive but....
I missed this in theaters but i will buy it the day it comes out.
Awesome, they used the coolest poster for the cover. I'm buying this as well as the 2-disc Region 2 version.
By the power of Greyskull...
