You should buy your girlfriend the DVD and make her watch it repeatedly, aside from co-riding toothless that is the ONLY dragon Astrid flies.

Huh? What about Sony, Panasonic, LG, etc....
Even in backward Australia these manufacturers are selling their 3D stuff now...
Although...
I would wait for the next generation.....
That's funny, my playstation 3 just downloaded 3D blu-ray support and plays and runs them just fine, in 3D and all.

I noticed from Amazon that the Bluray is also a Blu-Ray and Double Dragon Pack. But compared to all Dreamworks animated movies, cute but not my favorite of all computer animated films. Still hope the DVD comes with the Bluray.

How to train your dragon is a good film, don't get me wrong, but how the HELL can you say Inception is worse than this movie? Inception nailed EVERYTHING. Perfect acting, perfect story, perfect special effects, perfect running time, perfect cinematography. It was truly amazing and definitely needs a few more viewings. I can see if you say that Toy Story 3 is better (*maybe*) but HTTYD better than Inception?!?!?!
I was actually really disappointed with Inception. The emotional impact was not there. It felt like watching Shutter Island all over again. You can see the similarities. Also, we never get to know any of the characters at all, except for Leo, of course. I just think that if a no-named director directed the film, it wouldn't have gotten this much attention and love. There are also a lot of plot contrivances in the third act.

I'm surprised by the lukewarm responses for the film so far because I think it's easily the second best film of the year so far, behind, of course, "Toy Story 3." Yes, it's even better than the overrated "Inception." There. I said it. This is an achievement in animated filmmaking for Dreamworks. It was really breathtaking to see the film in 3D but I'm sure it's just as good seeing it in 2D. Again, wow, guys. This is a brilliant film. Don't let the above responses say otherwise.

I did see it in 2-D but that shouldnt make THAT much of a difference. I sense c**ppy extras on these releases b/c i know exactly what they are doing. They are piling it on for the 3-D bluray release, those sneaky b*****ds. Yall can quote me on that. Again i dont care b/c ill take toy story 3 over this any day
You know it's strange because I really enjoyed this movie, yet I'd never watch it again. I could *kind* of see where you're coming from. The beginning was really slow and this film was pretty predictable, although despite its flaws, I really enjoyed it. But yeah, I could see your point of view. Toy Story 3 was definitely ten times better than this movie.
It wasn't as good as "Kung Fu Panda," but it was way better than "Alice in Wonderland." But I do agree though "Toy Story 3" was 100 times better than this.
Yeah, HTTYD was better than Alice in Wonderland. Although, I actually *sort of* liked Wonderland. Very visually enchanting and entertaining. Although, it did lack substance.
I thought "Alice in Wonderland" was arguably the most disappointing movie of the year. But nothing is worse than "Marmaduke" this year. I wanted to like "Alice in Wonderland," but I didn't.

Jesus, those character and dragon designs are horrific

I thought the Blu-Ray was suppose to be a Combo Pack.

Glad u agree. One thing with me is i never go with the flow. I give my honest opinion ALL the time. I don't let hype or critics determine my thoughts. I WANTED to like it but it did nothing for me. I loved movies like up, coraline, rataoutlie(sp?) and even dispicable me. Oh well, cant love em all.

I never saw this in cinemas. I'll pick this up as a blind buy!
Heh...my girlfriend is a huge fan of this and she claims the girl character on the cover never rode that dragon in the movie. She is demanding the box art be re-done!!!

Why did it take so long to release on Blu Ray and DVD? It should have been out by now.
I actually thought this one was pretty great. It took a while to get going but once it did, it never really lost it for me.

If anyone agrees with me, please quote this because I feel alone in my statement. I really enjoyed this film, but I'd never watch it again. Crazy isn't it? Don't get me wrong, this was a well-crafted movie, but I just don't feel like watching it again.
I'll watch this when it's on cable TV. I know it'll make it there eventually. Pixar fan here.
The best Dreamworks has to offer. The team who did this has the potential for good. The team who did Monsters vs Aliens....not so much
Will probably blind buy. Never got around to it in theaters, but I do love a good animated movie.
Finally it announced to a release, missed in theater, and now gonna grab it.
I thought this was pretty good. Not one of Dreamworks best animated movies, but a great animated movie, nonetheless. I'll probably buy it and I will probably try to get my mom to watch it since she was thinking about seeing it.
mediocore from beginning to end. skip IMO
Wanted so bad to take my boyfriend to this, but we never got around to it. I'll probably blind buy it on day one because of all the praise I've read and heard about it. I get asked at work at least once a week if we have this movie and I keep telling parents it should be out by September. Now I know: October 15.
Well I'll still see it at home in 2D. The 3D was still good for this one.
Worth watching in the theater, in 3D. At home...eh
