No, I asked. The images you see are for the three separate products. They aren't releasing the first film separately so we don't get the cover.

I already have all 3 2-disc editions from HK as well as the 5 hour chronological cut.  I was hoping there would be some new extras and maybe a Bey Logan commentary, but if everything is just ported over from the HK DVD's, I guess there is no reason to get these.  That is unless I want to add titles 5-7 to my Dragon Dynasty collection.

Ummm, just so we're clear, we're in the same boat. I'm sure as Hell not knocking "The Departed", Scorsese's best since "GoodFellas" (and "Casino", "Gangs of New York" and "The Aviator", while flawed, are all great films in my mind). I was making fun of those people who called it trash because it was a remake/re-imagining/what have you.

Good to see the IA2 commentary finally English subtitled but otherwise there is nothing here to beat the UK Tartan effort which has DTS for all films.

The extras are clearly ported from the HK DVDs, which is all Tartan did in the UK and Madman in Australia did too. They never recorded a commentary for IA3.

People who think The Departed is a ripoff clearly haven't seen both The Departed and Infernal Affairs. There are clearly scenes lifted exactly from IA but there are also enough new ones to make it worth while.

It's a proper crime drama. I happen to think it's too long and the quick pace of IA was better but that's just my opinion. Both are decent films.

Should Marty win an Oscar? Nope not in the slightest, not because it's a remake but because it's simply not good enough. I just think of all the masterpieces he has made from Goodfellas and prior which are much more worthy.

HK LE Boxset I was lucky enough to find one of the last sites that had the 8 disc HK boxset, I got it for about $100.  If you are a big fan of HK cinema and/or Infernal Affairs, you should definitely try to track one down.  I have a lot of rare asian cinema DVDs/boxsets and this one is my favorite.  The case, the DVD packaging and the 100 page booklet are all absolutely beautiful.  The film transfers are gorgeous and the extras are great(1 disc of special features per film!).  Then you get the 300 min Trilogy cut spread over 2 discs.  It really is the crowning jewel of any DVD collection.  If you can find one for 200 bucks or less I would definitely recommend it.  I think I got it at sensasian.com, I checked so many sites I can't remember.  Yesasia.com (free worldwide shipping) & hkflix.com (best comparisons of various DVD versions on the web) are two of my favorites.  Happy hunting! By the way, the first two Dragon Dynasty releases are fantastic, let's hope they keep it up for IA.    

P.S.  The Departed is a incredible movie if you relax and judge it on its own merits.  It's got enough small twists that if you've seen IA you'll still be surprised.  Just my 2 cents...

It was just a matter of time that these became mainstream in the US (with a nice boxset, I mean). I don't think  its a must-buy, but it's a must-see.

So is the Departed based on all three films? (If so it would explain why the movie is sooo good, that and the fact that Scorcese directed the film.)

come on. LOL! wow. first they cut and recut asian films to their whims and now they do this to this most revered trilogy. it is both blasphemous and symptomatic of the Weinstein's total lack of understanding of the asian cinematic culture.

I can't check right now as at work that page is classified as adult content (What!). Those Thai releases are for the South East Asian market. I think Thailand has the biggest population hence it gets the dub or it could be the best off. I don't really know.

The 5 Hour Cut has no Thai dubs/subs as far as I can rememberer.

if it contains the 5 hour cut with all the extra's of the HK limited box set then i'll pick it up. I remember months ago Tartan hinting at an even better IA Box set to come.

In terms of extras it wouldn't be hard to beat IA2/IA3 from Tartan UK. Both only offer a making of, deleted scenes and not much more. Tartan's IA however is pretty decent with director's commentary.

I hope they at least port the IA2 director's commentary over, they never made one for IA3.
