I shall be grabbing this one when it comes out for sure :D
Any news for R1?
Something tells me the R1 DVD will be a mere shadow of this one....
Had to travel to Manchester to see this at the cinema! But it was definately worth the trip - can't wait to see it again! Hopefully they'll include the "Rabbits" shorts as extras as they were missing from the "Best of DavidLynch.Com" DVD!
The R1 DVD will be released on August 14th and will be a 2-disc set.
Great film! Cant wait for the R1 release. Traveled 3 hours to see it and it was worth it. I wish David Lynch would go back to film tho, the DV was rough looking to me. It will be interesting to see what it looks like on dvd...
Best film of the year by far. Not sure what version I`ll be getting, probably the R1 version :D
I wonder if Lynch films would benefit from looking rough, it may add to the surreal feel. I doubt he'll go back now he's in love with digital and the control it allows him.
Where did you hear about the R1? I'll wait to see which is better before picking it up. Any news on the studio releasing it? That will give a good idea what to expect.

the R1 version is already available for pre-order from Amazon.
Thanks I'll take a look.
Is this movie a horror or thriller movie?
It's more of a thriller than horror. But if you don't know anything about this movie or who made it or why it was made, you probably shouldn't watch it.
R1 will apparently be 2-disc too, released towards end of August.

I know that David Lynch made this he is the creator of Twin Peaks, Dune, Lost highway, mullholland DR. And i like those movies. So i think i will like this one to. Am i right?
You should be alright. But this is like Mulholland Dr. and Lost Highway taken beyond the point of no return.
Here's the R1 Artwork from Amazon.com, no extras listed, but it's a 2 disc set as well, so they'll probably be identical.

Funny thing though, they list it as being 1.33:1...

I seriously doubt it will be 1.33:1, it's an Amazon mistake. I prefer the UK cover art but considering they're being released at roughly the same time I'll get whichever has is better + cheaper.
Probably. At least, let's hope it's an error.
I dunno, I like the R1 more than the R2,has a more "un-Earthly" feel to it, like the movie. Plus no quotes, just a tagline.

UGH!!! Why does R2 always manage to get better artwork!?! This was a great film, my favorite by lynch. Can't wait. I might just order this for the cover art itself along with the region 1 edition. The R1 art is unbelievably horrible!
Amazing artwork that really misleads the consumer into thinking this is some glossy David Lynch thriller...it's baffling, gritty, incoherent and cheap. One of the most terrifying cinema experiences I've ever had. Laura Dern did give the best performance of 2006, though.
What about the 60-90 minutes of deleted footage?????
I guess I'm the only one who likes the R1 packaging.

I doubt Lynch would allow it's release, Fire Walk with Me still has no deleted footage released, or Mulholland Drive for that matter.
For a Lynch films those extras aren't too bad. I hope they're a decent length though.

Why do they not mention that here?

Thought you all would be interested to know that dvd pacific has listed Inland Empire with the following:
RATIO 1,85:1
90 MINUTES OF DELETED SCENES.
BEHIND THE SCENES.
DAVID LYNCH COOKS QUINOA.
Have also listed the release date being the 24th of July....

Are you serious? I like the R1 cover way better. Best of all: no cheap quotes on it. God, I hate those

Looks like some of those interviews may be UK exclusives... hopefully we get everything that'll be on the US release otherwise I'll have to buy both (I don't normally double dip but I'll make an exception for this movie)!

I like the design of the R2 DVD. I dont like quotes either, but the R1 artwork looks like it was done in microsoft paint (but i guess that's whats popular here in the US, considering half the dvd covers that get released here look like they were designed by untalented graphic design students). I wouldnt be surprised if the image of laura dern came pixelated as shown. Looks like the douche that designed it used the "stretch to size" option. come on!

Well, considering the film was shot on DV, the cover suits the hazy feel the film had. Anyways, some great news for the R1 release!
The Digital Bits said: In official news this morning, Rhino Entertainment has announced the DVD release of David Lynch's Inland Empire on 8/14 (SRP $29.95). The 2-disc set, overseen by Lynch himself, will include a whopping 75 minutes worth of additional scenes (entitled More Things That Happened), a "making of" featurette (Lynch 2: Behind the Scenes of Inland Empire), interviews with Lynch and the film's star Laura Dern (Stories), a photo gallery, 3 theatrical trailers, plus footage of Lynch at home cooking quinoa (appropriately titled David Lynch Cooks Quinoa).
Woo!

Honestly, my problem with this film was that it was too long and too repetitive. I understand that that's what he was going for but an additional 75 minutes?! It seems like it really was Lynch's vanity project, a long drawn-out slog that took him years to make and is impressive but VERY self-indulgent. Arguably, a lot of his films are but this one throws out so much at you all at once that I found it perhaps a bit more tediously eccentric than his other films. I like it quite a bit but am really wondering what the extra 75 minutes will add.

I missed this at the cinema due to it's pathetic release window, grrr. At least I've not had to wait ages for a DVD.
