I don't watch Bonus Features much anymore, so I'll be sticking with the 1-Disc(better artwork too.)
You could always make your own cover art...
Thank you Marvel Comics, Paramount and Iron Man fans everywhere. With all the hype and acclaim for this movie, I thought it was high time to put my original edition of Tales Of Suspense # 39 (Iron Man's first appearence)up for sale on ebay. It sold pretty quickly for $1,100 in fine + condition.

if you're referring to the "invincible iron man" listing then no it isnt the animated movie. that's just the name of the little documentary/featurette about the comic book.
i love how marvel have done this with many of their movies when they hit home video though, you get a section for the movie itself and all its featurettes etc, and then a section about the comic's history. not being a comic book reader, its fun to see that stuff.

Pretty good movie, won't be buying it though.

Haha, I didn't notice that till now, you're right! I don't know how many people would really notice that and go "Ohmigosh, that totally just ruined the movie!" though, so, oh well. It is odd for it to be there though, I do agree with you there.

That Iron Man IQ looks super cool. I hope The Dark Knight does something like that.
I actually prefer the 1-disc artwork!
i kinda like the single disc art, more than the 2-discs...
but im gonna get the 2-discs lol
but im gonna get the 2-discs lol
Honestly, with the whole disc art thing, am I the only one that doesn't care? I mean, if it's good, then that's cool, but if it's not that's not going to stop me at all. They could put a blank piece of paper in there and I'd still buy it.
That said, anyone know if the blu-ray is gonna have the slipcover too?

you fail
First off I agree that the one disc cover art is too busy, it's fine but I like the 2 Disc better, it's more striking and it's cool that it's a slipcover and it's Downey Jr. underneath. Another bonus is no stupid quotes on the front and back, quotes and floating heads seem to be the thing to do.
I also agree that Jeff Bridges in the prototype suit is a bit of a spoiler but I would think anyone buying the 2 Disc is already a fan and has seen the movie...
Maybe they've finally realized that only big fans of the movie buy the 2 disc versions so they don't have to show us who's in the movie and what critics said about it because we are already planning on buying it.

Wow. Great covers.
Blu-Ray for me. Excellent film.
Arrrgh! Why did they do that art for the Blu-ray? The single disc art is so much better.
Oh well. That won't stop me from buying it on release day.
Oh well. That won't stop me from buying it on release day.
Such a big movie and there is NO Bonus View 1.1. That is unacceptable to say at least. I really think BD-Live is a waste of space. Right until they come up with better things i can't stand that feature
Ok, does anyone ELSE think that the back cover of the 2 disc gives away a HUGE SPOILER? You know it if you look carefully (metal suit dude)
Ooooh, I like what I am going to assume is the slipcover and keepcase...with the armor and underneath, Stark.

The 2-disc art is a lot cooler now that you have Stark underneath the Shellhead slipcover. I still think that the best thing for the 2-disc would've been the teaser poster with half of Iron Man's mask.
And why is the back of the 1-disc uber-cheesy?
And why is the back of the 1-disc uber-cheesy?
Why couldn't they use the single disc artwork for the 2 disc special edition?

Will the 2-Disc version have a lenticular cover? Is that why they have Iron Man and Robert Downey Jr. in the same pose?
Man, if it's a lenticular cover, it would kind of make me rethink the need for a steelbook.

I like the One Disc art, but I think it's too crowded for my tastes. I like the simple art on the Two Disc and Blu-Ray.
1-Disc cover is 10,000 times better than the 2-Disc one. Shame they didn't use it for Blu.

Loads more artwork added, including inserts and back covers
why couldnt they use the damn poster on the blu-ray verison??????!!!!
That is some pretty disappointing artwork... wow. They didn't even try. They could've at least used one of the posters.
I like the art. Nice and simple... This baby will be mine in HD! Go blu!
Nice boxart. Blu for me.
I did a little google search and found an excerpt from Favreau on the DVD:
http://www.superherohype.com/news/ironmannews.p...
Quote:
CS/SHH!: Are you still working on DVD features?
Favreau: Yeah, we are going to do a commentary. I just got delivered a whole bunch of extras that look really, really good. We had cameras on the set all the time. They put together something for "Iron Man" that spans from the first story meetings, to designing the suit, all the way through mixing it up at Skywalker Ranch, through the premiere. There are hours and hours of great stuff that will be available eventually. We have to look over all of that stuff so there is still a lot of work to be done. Then there is trying to figure out where the hell we are now and what we are doing.
So where's the audio commentary he recorded?

Those Two-Disc extras look great. Too bad there's no commentary.
I could have sworn Favreau did an interview where he said he and Downey were getting ready to record a commentary track.
horrorfan25 wrote: dave13 wrote: no commentary? bogus.
I have to agree with that.
It may be a directorial choice. Spielberg doesn't do commentaries because he belives a movie should be 1 experience with its sound/score and nothing else. If the supplemental materials cover what the commentary would, there may not be a need for one.
Don't get me wrong I think it would be a great bonus feature as well as having enhanced viewing mode but I'm just trying to explain why there may not be one.

sounds pretty cool, i think that robert downey jr did a nice job in this film
I MIGHT be getting a Blu-Ray player soon, so I'm sure this title would look good for Blu-Ray.
I'm puzzled why Paramount didn't get Favreau and Downey to do a commentary.
The extra features look really cool though, it's 2-disc for me despite the omission of a commentary.

Thanks for the heads-up about FYE, but that store is so unjustifiably expensive. They often try to advertise lower prices via a mail-in rebate, but what's the point when you can go next door to Best Buy, buy the DVD for that same cheap price, and save a stamp in the process?

That list of special features is so long, but why no commentary? I don't understand that. I used to love commentaries, but more and more dvds don't have them anymore. I may just go for the single disc.
so many superhero movies released this summer...
all im waiting for, is THE DARK KNIGHT... but im owning all of them to my collection :p

I like the new art better than the old...I still don't know what I was hoping for.
No commentary though? I haven't been much into commentaries for the past 4 years, but I would have liked it for this one. I'm surprised Favreau didn't do one.

Final details added
i grew up a comic book kid but never really had the desire to watch this flick...oh well
I would have guessed it was going to be the poster as the box art.
it makes me laugh how many people get hung up on cover art of a movie,i usually put the disc and watch the movie not stare at dvd case for hours.i might look at at for a second and maybe think its c**p but who really gives a toss.
The Dark Knight was just a great movie. it's def a comic book flick, but that title does not pay it the proper respect. It matters not where the source material comes from in my eyes. Just make a great movie and people will full the theaters. With that said, Iron Man was also great, but I'm going with Weird Science as R.D., Jr. at his best. ^_^ Wait, did anyone say Johnny Be Goode?
Since these are indeed early details, lets all hope there is at least one commentary. The filmmakers all seem like talkative, affable people and that they would be able to tell entertaining and funny stories. Excellent movie. Will definately get this one.
well, a must buy... i hope we get a 2-discs...
I think they should have gone with a different cover design.. Two suggestions, which is far better than this:

Can you explain to me how comic book films are 'not real' then? Too many people are up their own arses about The Dark Knight. It's a film about a bloke who dresses up like a giant bat. It is most certainly a comic book film.
I think he just means fantasy vs reality. The Dark Knight tries to be as realistic as possible( for instance explaining where all his gear comes from etc) while most comic movies just dance around in fantasy land without grounding things in reality. Comic books are nothing more than modern day mythology.
Also The Dark Knight may be about someone that dresses up as a bat and battles evil, but it felt more like a detective noir to me than a superhero movie. Everyone is challenged as to what is right and wrong.

This didn't appeal to me until I heard all of the positive word-of-mouth. I took my dad to go see it and we were thoroughly entertained.
Blu-ray purchase for me. This movie was great, but (Warning: minor repitition to follow) had it not been for "The Dark Knight," this would've been the best film of the year so far.

Yup so many comic book movies out this year, and they were all decent....
also Wanted is a movie based on a comic book.
Iron Man wasn't bad. It was a good comic book movie. hellboy 2 was disappointing. The Dark Knight was fantastic (I( want to see it a third time).

I am definitely getting Iron Man. I thought the movie was really good. WOW! It's really early for the release date. Was predicting October, but they moved it all the way to September. That's really early.
The story was strong but it spent way too much time setting it up. There was barely any superhero action.
It did set it up well for a decent sequel though.
It did set it up well for a decent sequel though.
Comprende?
If it wasn't for The Dark Knight, this would have been my favorite movie of the 2008 summer movie season. Will definitely be coping the Blu-ray for this one......
yep lots of superhero movies released this summer......Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Hancock, Hellboy II, and then The Dark Knight....and its weird that I actually had the most fun watching Hancock out of all these movies.....Honestly I don't know whats wrong with me with movies now, I feel underwhelmed by evertything lately. Iron Man was good but not great. Incredible Hulk was better than the 1st but thats not saying much, Hellboy was never really my style, and I thought Begins was better than the long, drawn out Dark Knight that looked more similar to the movie Se7en than it did with the first one....
I'll hold off until they double dip this sucker. Dark Knight is a vastly superior film in story, scale and characters. With that said, Iron Man certainly was above average as a comic book movie. Robert Downey Jr is back!
the art is nice but with such a blockbuster paramount should make a nice box set i mean a collectors edition or something paramount is the cheapest studio when it comes to a nice collectors edition i have many of there movies even there disks r cheap looking a simple lame gray disc and ironically enough there movies are the most expensive
I greatly enjoyed Iron Man and thought that it was very well done for what it was. However, I can't help but call it overrated. I know it's been a while since a good comicbook movie came out before this, but calling it better than Batman Begins and Spider-man 2 is absurd to me, and forget about the few calling it better than The Dark Knight. I feel as if the sequel will deliver on a more exciting and engrossing film, and I really can't wait to see that. I will certainly be buying the 2-Disc though.
Great movie all the way up to the kinda weak ending.
Lovin' the artwork! Please Paramount this one is a keeper! Don't change it at the last minute!
2nd best movie this summer behind the dark knight
suncoast has a exclusive steel book cover of the movie
suncoast has a exclusive steel book cover of the movie
FYE and other Transworld stores already have a 2-disc steelbook for pre-order in-store. Though shouldn't it be an ironbook? :p
While I am stoked to pick this up, after the one-two punch of Hellboy II and Dark Knight, I'm slightly less enthused. Having said that, this flick will look GORGEOUS in HD. Definitely a must own.
Blu-Ray for me. All the way. Nice cover too. And about the tin cover, I wouldn't be surprised if Best Buy had a steel-case for it. Or in this case...an Iron-Case
Loved Dark Knight but gotta say, I loved Iron Man just a bit more. Just felt more like a "comic book" movie to me.
Dark Knight, while well made, was almost TOO gritty and realistic to be a comic book film. More of a hard boiled detective story crossed with an action flick. Iron Man still retained some of the comic book charm while still keeping it somewhat grounded.
Can't wait to add both to my collection.

To quote Slyvester Stallone a little bit, OK! Let's get it!!!!
I hope they use the Blu Ray artwork for the 2 disc edition
Like it was mentioned before, a metal tin case would be very appropriate for this movie!
saying it is one of the best super hero movies of all time isn't really saying much at all either.

I am willing to forgive the lack of commentary if the Rifftrax boys take a crack at this one.
I'll be buying it. Loved the hell out of this film.
This is a must buy for me. Blu all the way. I am looking forward to the complete details on the extras and such. This was the best comic book movie ever until The Dark Knight. I worry that the Academy will not recognize that the top 5 reviewed films this year are 3 comic book movies and 2 animated ones.
Haven't seen this sincee the day it opened. I totally meant to again, guess I had my chance. This was so sucessful for so many months. Definitely NOT a movie of the week.
Cool cover, glad they kept the poster art. The movie was good but not great. Robert downey made the movie, a great piece of casting. Hopefully the sequel will have more action.
Cool. I can't wait to see it.
I'm sure there's got to be a Faverou commentary. He's to outspoken to not include one.........

Excluding Back to School right?
And yeah, I'm hoping for a lot more extras. I'm not too sure about the art though. It's not bad...I was just hoping they'd do something different and just really cool.

Out of all the films released this year, these superhero movies are about the only ones I'm really interested in.
Was the best superhero film this year until THE DARK KNIGHT blew it out of the water. Still a pretty great film though.
I am definitely picking this up....don't know which format I'll buy it on but I'm getting it. Such a cool movie.
I'll buy this. One of the few enjoyable superhero movies produced this year.
These aren't the full details, so don't worry too much yet. Could well be more things included

Awesome movie, awesome art, A MUST BUY!!!
I really did not like this movie. I think I'm the only person alive who didn't. It's a lonely world.
