Impressive, but I think I am going to hold off for the eventual High Def releases.
you'd think they would put the movies in the order they were released....seems weird the way they mixed em up
I'll stick with the region 4 edition at least they come all at once.
I know in America that they've done this before, they came in a number of sets all mixed up, it's very strange.
No suitcase like in Japan!!!?!! Gah, at least the box art is classy looking. (But I was looking forward to getting that suitcase.....).
I'll probably end up getting these.
No metal case like in the UK = no sale.
Also the original box set art is MUCH nicer.

THIS IS AMAZING, THE NEW SOUND AND RESTORATION ARE GOING TO BE AMAZING. Since I read about the UK releases awhile back I knew that they would be here in the U.S too. So I sold my entire previous James Bond collection on ebay for $350 because at the time they were rare and OOP DVD's, lucky for me that the person didn't know about these beauties.
I don't care how these are coming...I'm getting them because I've been smart enough to hold off on getting these [the Bond films] because I knew these [DVDs] were coming.
Don't know when I'll get them, but eventually...may have to spread them out like one box per month, and that is if there's nothing else major coming out that particular month. Luckily, I feel like my major DVD buying is going to start drying up here by the end of the year, because all of the movies, TV Shows that I want, or have been collecting, will be concluding pretty soon.

This is a must-buy for me. I absolutely love these movies and only have one on DVD ("Die Another Day"). I can't wait!
I just want to buy "The Living Daylights" and "GoldenEye" on DVD, nothing else. I already own "Licence to Kill" and "Die Another Day" (which I bought on impulse only). But the studio refuses to release these films in separate sets. They have to stick them in a $90 box set with movies that I really do not care to own. I'm getting really sick of all these exclusive box sets. In any case, I knew Sony was going to put out new DVDs of the Bond films the instant they bought MGM.

The only real question I have is did all the extras from the previous SE carry over?
Will "Casino Royale" be released on DVD through Fox or by Sony via MGM?
Why don't they package them chronologically?
Or would that make sense?

Sony get the theatrical rights, MGM get the video rights according to IMDb, so assuming that's correct and there's no further complications then Fox would end up distributing the discs.

Will they be released separately? As much as I love 007, I really don't have much ambition to own ALL of them.
No, that's why they are all mixed up, so that if your 5 favourites are in the 4 different boxes, you'll wanna buy them all.
I'm definitely buying them all!!! Can't wait for this!. Hope it's not limited!
Wonder if the often "we dont talk about that one" Never Say Never Again is included in one of the sets.

It's not in the same canon, so no. Also, it was released by WB, but that doesn't really matter, point is, it's about him coming out of retirement AND a REMAKE of an earlier 007 adventure. So there's a reason they don't talk about it, just like Casino Royale '67 isn't talked about (and that WAS released by MGM).
You can pick up the disc now for less than $10. A nice addition to the 007 collection, as well as Casino Royale (if you can get through it and not be confused, takes a few times)
But no, NSNA will never be acknowledged and put into an offical James Bond boxset. And no one say "Never say never." it would be funny but all too predictable.

Nope. That was done by WB so it won't be in the collection. Plus it was really a Thunderball remake.

I'm hoping these are pretty much the same as the recently released UK Region 2 Ultimate Editions (titles available separately, btw, usually in 2 discs SE). I picked up From Russia With Love and can attest to its manifest superiority in every way over the MGM SE. The improvement ain't subtle.
I'm confused. I know Die Another Day has deleted scenes. I just wonder why they didn't include them.
I thought MGM has the rights to NSNA now.

I'm definitely getting all four volumes! I missed out on the the last release and I'm not passing them up this time!
Individual DVDs
Are you guys positive they're not being individually released?
They were released on their own in the UK. Now I know that alone is not a reason that they'll be relesed here, but one has to imagine they'd be fools to cut off a revenue source.
It may not be right away, but I bet they get released on their own. I have about 8-10 of the older DVD sets, the only two I'd consider "upgrading" would be Goldfinger and License to Kill.

Well lets see, I have the NSNA dvd in my hand and in the book it says" This MGM DVD has been....."
This is from the Special editions Released in the 90's sometime. I think they NSNA company liscensed it to MGM to be released. It's doesn't have the MGM logo on the DVD. Not trying to start a fight. just stating what is on my DVD.
First off, not releasing them in order is just plain stupid. I guess there way of getting people to buy sets just to get a certain movie.
Second, If they can pull of DTS audio from MONO sounds tracks ( half the film franchise is in mono sound) and make them sound good that would be a reason to upgrade. I think I will wait and see what people say about the audio remix before I purchase any of these. I got some of the Roger Moore & Sean Connery special editions at a garage sale for cheap. These work just fin e for me except the audio is a downfall of them.

Yeah I know, for the 2001 DVDs, MGM got release rights and put it up there, but it was never included in the sets. But like I said, you'll never see it in an "official" box set.

what is wrong with hollywood??? I spent over a year getting the DVDs when they were 1st being released, and damn fine DVDs they were - why in gods name should we want to double dip just fo an extra disc and a slightly better video transfer??? Why cant people leave these old movies alone!!!

Art is ok, 007-ish (I said -ish) but they could've chosen better pictures, I mean, does anyone remember the henchman from TWINE (Bullion)? Why does he get a picture?
Extras seem worth it for those who don't have already, but most of what's there is already on the DVDs I have now. The Roger Moore commentaries DO seem interesting though.
