The Jungle Book
swings onto Blu-ray Diamond Edition in the U.S. on February 11, 2014. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel, this song-filled celebration of friendship, fun, and adventure was Disney's 19th animated masterpiece and the last animated feature to have Walt Disney's personal touch. Now, viewers can experience its lush and colorful world and jazzy, toe-tapping songs - including the 'I Wan'na Be Like You' and Academy Award®-nominated classic 'The Bare Necessities' - with the ultimate in high definition picture and sound clarity. Also featuring thrilling new bonus features,The Jungle Book
is next winter’s must-own Diamond Edition Blu-ray!The ultimate Disney fairy tale,
Sleeping Beauty
, once again awakens to exquisite new picture and sound on Blu-ray in the U.S. in October 2014. Heralded by audiences and critics alike,Sleeping Beauty
was one of the final fairy tales to be that Walt Disney himself worked on. Fully restored with revolutionary Blu-ray technology, this animated classic’s dazzling colors, spectacular action, and Academy Award®-nominated orchestration (for Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture) shines brighter than ever. With wondrous new bonus features families will love,Sleeping Beauty
charms like never before on Blu-ray Diamond Edition!News by Gabriel Powers

So DVDActive in conclusion Sleeping Beauty did have a Diamond Edition, back then it was Platinum Edition.
It was Snow White. That movie's release is the de facto debut of a new line because Disney considers it it's first major animated film (because it is).
Also, in conclusion, no it did not. Diamond Edition is just a re-released Platinum Edition but they are not the same thing for a collector. However, I do agree this release (and so early too!) is pointless.

I don't see what they could do with Sleeping Beauty. The first blu-ray was the best that the movie can look. The extras were amazing. So....what else can they add ? I just want Aladdin.
Gee, thanks?
Sleeping Beauty was released as a Platinum Edition Blu-ray in 2008, is still kinda the same thing as the Diamond Editions. Back then Disney was using "Platinum Edition" for their DVD's and they hadn't come up with Diamond Edition till later, I think it was with Pinocchio or Snow White.

I'm curious to find out just what they're doing to Sleeping Beauty on BluRay, because the last release was a pretty big deal when it came to it's video transfer. The previous releases were all 2.35:1 where as the current BluRay was formatted at 2.55:1. It was an awesome difference to say the least and the restoration work was superb. I don't doubt that there have been major improvements in video restoration since the original's release, but it would have to be something incredible in order to justify purchasing something that already looked fantastic.
I'll pass on Sleeping Beauty as I ready own the already released blu of it. However, I'm def in for The Jungle Book. Lets hope Disney will eventually release the live action one on Blu.
