Oh f**k off! It's like Spielberg parodying the Jaws scene in Back to the Future.

As it's also being re-released in standard 2D version I don't really see why people are getting upset that they are also releasing a 3D version. Surely this is good. It's all about choice. Neither side of the 2D vs 3D argument should be excluded.
It doesn't need a 2D re-release unless they've done a new scan - it's already available in a boxed set for peanuts. This was released in 1993; it was never meant to be 3D and all these post-conversion titles are just devaluing an already disappointing technology.
Seriously not done with 3D yet huh? I just hope it dies soon. I'd take new ideas of the same old thing. Jurassic park was awesome in 93 but that time has passed. It had its moment.

Well some people don't care for the sequels (myself included) and don't want to own them in their collection. So for us, the standalone release is great news and welcomed!

And while I would have just preferred an IMAX release like Raiders last year compared to IMAX 3D, I for one will definitely be watching this on the big screen when it comes out.

Saw the trailer for this at a showing of Hansel and Gretel. No kidding, right after that the preview for the Top Gun 3D re-release came up. of course I knew of both already but it was hilarious to see the reaction of those previews back to back. Get used to this though, 3D re-releases are definitely not going anywhere for a while and there are several more movies in the pipeline for them as of now.
Can anyone confirm if the 2D version is indeed a new scan?
I don't know why they'd do a new scan. They just did one two years ago for the previous set.
Pass. Can't we just have 2D re-releases? I'm only watching Top Gun this weekend to see on the big screen, the 3D is just lame.

Could not have said it better Chris
They should be concentrating on releasing Treasures of the Four Crowns instead of converting these
