So, are the 16 deleted scenes PART of the movie or just a featurette? If it's just a featurette, then how much longer IS the movie, or hell, what's the final run time and I'll do the math myself? (or is it posted above and I'm too stupid to see it?) Anywho, that's all...

Oh my God, dsman71, not only are you an asshole, but you suck at being an it. "thats not what your mom said after I banged her"? That's the saddest put down I've read since Downfall's little tirade. This coming from the guy claiming maturity over our other readers? I'm counting down the seconds untill Chris bans you.
wow just 13 minutes, no dts and some shrug worthy documentaries? man that's a great deal. i'll be more than happy to help Peter Jackson and Universal get richer so i'll buy it

The film has a DD-EX mix, like Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy did(Universal doesn't mention that on the DVD menu or on the cover art, but it's confirmed at the Dolby website and on the film's ending credits). I shouldn't see why DTS enthusiasts shouldn't be pleased with just a DD 5.1-EX track... because that DD-EX track was demo-worthy to begin with.

What the hell? STILL NO DTS?
it better feature dts! as the extended edition of LOTR did.

While I used to not care about whether or not a DVD had DTS (because my old receiver didn't have a DTS-decoder) but now my new one does and I do pick the DTS track given the opportunity. However, as you said, a good DD track is just as good as a decent DTS track, if not better some times. And the DD track for the TC was pretty darn good.

the list of extras is impressive. whistles. How long is the extended version?
A money-grabbing re-release of a Peter Jackson film? Surely no...
Unecessary.
Extended Lord of the Rings....Yes.
Extended Kong.......NO.
I hope Peter won't get into the habit of doing this all the time. But, I can see studios belting down his, and others door/s, to put these type of things (over-bloated c**p...) out.

Well, dsman71, my mom also said you weren't any good.
Hmm, I am kind of disappointed that the featurette PJ said he was going to include in the EE regarding the endangerment of the Gorillas is nowhere to be found, kind of like what he did for that sick child on the ROTK EE...hopefully we will get to see that as well to make people more aware.

The truth hurts though
....another reason not to get it
The truth hurts though
Looking forward to adding this to my ever growing collection
I have been waiting for this.. this is the reason I held back from buying the 2-disc-er.
Now the only thing for me deciding on which version of EXTENDED to get will be on what the "statue" will be inside the box...

wildjem77 - cut it out please. The problem has been dealt with, so we don't need anymore silly posts like that. We've got enough work to do on the site as it is - we don't want to be keeping members in check every 5 seconds too!
Well, if you a fan of a movie you really want the best dvd set that they offer. I have in the past replaced so many DVD's with updated edition, extended editions, collector's editions and I plan to continue. It gives you a little bit of Hollywood in your home. As for King Kong, One of the best movies I have every seen. It now ranks in my favorite movie categories. It amazes me to hear how people always repeat what the movie critics say about a movie. Who is going to tell you if you like a movie or not! I think that's totally stupid. Some people just don't care for this genre of movies (like jurassic park or jaws). If you don't like it, don't watch it. I think a chat area should be used for people who are into the movie & talk about what they liked about it. Like King Kong had so much emotion & mystery in it. I think Peter Jackson did above & beyond what anybody could have expected. Peace.
Seeing that DSman is banned... what a great way to start off my morning.
Wretched Excess! Sign me up.

I know. I had stopped reading some threads because of the endless hatred of King Kong in every thread he posted in. I can understand and respect not liking a movie. There are plenty of good movies that just weren't my thing. But Kong was pretty well received by both the public and the critics (which seems fairly rare these days), so it's hard to make a case that the movie itself was bad.

Sorry, Tom. I can see now. Thanks.
I thought the theatrical cut played better when I watched it at home. I wasn't too thrilled by the idea of more footage, but 13 minutes put back in isn't all that bad. And that Dolby Digital track on the theatrical cut was excellent. Not sure exactly how much more a DTS track would add (although it is always nice to have that option).
I really do hope that Universal announces the HD-DVD of the film at the same time. I would rather not triple dip on this title (theatrical, extended, HD).

As far as the DTS goes - I've never gotten what the big deal is. DD5.1 is great for me.
Yes, trailers, boo only two commentary participants. Can Jackson and Boyens really talk for more than three hours straight? It would have been really nice to hear Naomi Watts on the track, since she's one of the best things about the picture.
Well...there's no DTS...sad, but it sounds like a really fantastic set in terms of features, I'll pick it up.
you know what, you dont have to like Peter Jackson, which I dont know why anyone wouldnt considering he has made some of the best movies in filmmaking history including the best movie trilogy in the past decade, but to call him and King Kong garbage is way below the belt. All you F**king losers calling it gargabe and c**p, lets see your Wondrous work, oh thats right you havnt made s**t. So shut your trap until you have made something better than that of King Kong. Oh and another thing everyone shooting there mouths off about how the movie is too long, well guess what, if they had cut any of the scenes out the movie would have had more missing pieces and then all you same people would be back here B***hing about how the movie is incomplete or not quite long enough. So enough already. Either you like it or you dont. But dont start tarring the movie down for what it is.
No DTS? Whats the Deal? Just like what Universal did with "The Frightners" Director's Cut.
Wow, are they going to take out everything that sucked? If so the movie will be about four minutes long. PASS.

I Was Thinking the Same Thing.

King Kong is a fantastic film and nobody could have remade it better than Jackson did. God, so many of you seem to hate it so much yet your still on here reading about it and wasting your time posting your opinions on it. Keep em to yourself.
