There's probably a cost or licensing issue. These products are from the same distributor (Warner), but one product was produced by Discovery, the other was produced by the BBC.

Because no one is going to buy anything having to do with Oprah....they won't if they any sort of self esteem, that is.

Praise Jeebus! I was already looking into importing the British blu set to get Attenborough's commentary, and now I don't have to!

Thank you.
I thought I was the only one who thought Oprah was a bad idea.

Oh thank god.
I'm glad Attenborough is narrating, but I do kind of like the Winfrey cover art.
attenborough! yes!
Oprah...no thanks. I can't imagine listening to anyone but Sir Attenborough. Planet Earth would not have been the same without him.
I'll take the BBC Earth version with Attenborough.
The Attenborough version is also available in the usa! deets here: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Life-DVDs-Anno...
Surely the US get Oprah - ugh, and the UK / Ireland will get Attenborough - as is the case already?
watched this show on bbc hd channel...brill....WTF..oprah,!!!!,,,that has to be an early april fool's joke...right!!!.no one but no one can be better than sir david..
Oprah won't scare me away. I'd rather have a bunch of other narrators but Oprah does have a great voice I have to admit.
However I wouldn't mind hearing some Boyd Matson! I just remember growing up and hearing his voice on 'National Geographic Explorer'. Good stuff.

I'd also prefer Attenborough, but Oprah isn't a deal breaker for me. I'll be getting this.

WHAT
WHAT
Just when you thought Morgan Freeman was annoying as a Narrator, they choose Winfrey instead. Repugnant! Yes! Bring in that "Music Only viewing option"
I hope this is not another ripoff like "Disney's Earth" was by using different shots from "BBC Earth"

Yeah, that Oprah narration really is a deal breaker. I suppose if importing it wouldn't work out, I could always use the "Music Only viewing option".
Ugh, I was going to ask if Oprah was on the original broadcast, or if they switched it like they did with Sigourney Weaver in Earth. Well... that sucks. It'd be nice if they offered both audio options, but otherwise it looks like it'll be the import for me.
That does sound like a very bad move. I would rather hear Attenborough by far.
I'd love to know who thought it would be a good idea to replace world-renowned naturalist Sir David Attenborough with bloody Oprah Winfrey!
