Great film, and nice picture. Kate Winslet is such a beauty. . .
Incredible film. For someone who really enjoyed the pacing and message of the book I was so impressed that the film was able to still have me on the edge of my seat. It's uniformly perfectly cast (Jennifer Connelley has never been better) and really gives some good actors a chance to show how great they really are. It's filmed SO well.
arghh!!! there's so many problems with this release:
1-the release date: why?! I was expecting this at least early March.
2-the extras:looks like New Line will treat this like they treated Todd Field's previous film In the Bedroom 6 years ago,a Barebone release and the question at the end of the day is WHY??!
3-this moviie had one of the best trailers i've ever seen in my whole life and great great posters.let's hope this will continue to the DVD artwork.
if New Line insist on making this a barebone release then let's hope they include the trailer at least.i admit it,i'll buy it then.

I'm really surprised that New Line Home Entertainment is giving some of their future DVD releases so poorly. "The Nativity Story" and "Little Children" are both barebones! I cant believe it, they are always so good with making DVDs for the fans of the film. No matter what the film. I'm very sad.
"Vera Drake", alson released by New Line, is also a great movie and the DVD was barebones
this movie was amazing. I got to see a two week early sneek preview and at the end of the movie...no one really wanted to leave. I remember thinking "oh my god...did this really just happen...this is one of the best movies EVER!!!" I left the theatre feeling completely satiated. I don't care if the movie is barebones or not...i'll happily pay a double...even triple dip for this movie.
In the Bedroom was not released by New Line, that was released by Disney in 2002.
Don't be surprised if you see a special edition in the future of those films perhaps extended cuts.

I really wanted to see this.
Not great, just good. Definately no need for someone to repeatedly see this.
I've been wanting to see this one for a while, but it never expanded here. I'll netflix it.
Perhaps the most overrated film of laster year IMO. Yes, it's good but at the end I was like "Eh... good but not award good". I don't think it ever hit theaters near me but while I was vacationing in London the theater there was playing it. I'm undecided if I'd buy it.
This was a really good movie. I read about 1/4 of the book and it was fairly faithful to it. Funny, I don't remember the scene above being in the final film. It has been a couple months though so I could be wrong.
An astonishing picture.
Absolutely disgusting that it performed so terribly at the box office.

Because it played in a max of like 40 theaters all year. I went to Boston for Christmas and I went WAAAAAY out of my way to catch this, but I'm so glad I did. I call it the best movie of 2006. Really great stuff.

I loved the film and will be buying it. It's one of the best I've seen this year. The ending leaves something to be desired though and despite already being pretty long I wasn't ready for it to be over. It could have went on longer.
From Here to Eternity, anyone?

Don't expect extended cuts from art house pics, usually only the big name directors and producers have the money, time, and power to go back and re-edit films for newer releases.

This was a great movie. I really liked it. One of my favorites of the year, easily.
Kate Winslet is building quite a career for herself. I wanted to see this too but it wasn't playing by me. I'll watch it in April I guess.
Artwork added...
From that artwork, hard not to guess what one of the central themes of the film is. Heard Kate Winslet's oscar nomination for this was well-earned though, so should be interesting to see it.
There is no need for extended editions of art house films, because with these films the studios don't interfere with the picture, unlike the big blockbusters. They actually let the director do their job. They know the pictures aren't going to be huge and so don't need to change some things around just to get more money. I can't even see how extended editions would be of much use to these sorts of movies.
I'm so glad they used the theatrical poster for the artwork. It looks great. I will definitely buy this movie.

And that's why it's disgusting. New Line screwed the pooch with LC. Hopefully, with all the Oscar nominations it recieved, more people will start seeing it now, like with In the Bedroom.
I'm glad they kept the poster art, but I wish they'd put Jackie Earl Haley's name on the cover as he's as big a character as the other three (hell, he has more screentime than Jennifer).
I'm guess the large blank spot at the top (or bottom) is for New Line to announce the Oscar nominations and/or wins (I'm hoping it gets screenplay).

nice cover. I'm mad that there's no extras though.
yessss!!! I absolutely loved the movie poster. i'm so elated that they decide to use it as well for the dvd artwork.
An ok film, nothing too special. Nice cover though
Whether referring to the empty spaces or the actual image itself, I believe the words "stark", "buck" and "naked" apply perfectly here...
