Sweet, now I can own it even earlier. I love the packaging of R1 much better, and the price too. Of course by the time I get it, the season will just have finished in the UK, so no temptation to watch ahead. I prefer watching it in anticipation week to week. And anyone who doesn't like this show is just lame, nuff said.

If so, I'm going to go kill someone.  The first set was so mediocre, a show like "Lost" deserves a more interesting design.  I can stand the "Extended Experience" bit show above, but if they really get white, bold and all-caps over half the front, I ask you readers to join me in said going to kill someone.

Yep, LOST will run in two rerun free segments next year.  This is FANTASTIC NEWS.  No word on the exact start date but I would guess based on the DVD release date of season 2, that we should expect season 3 to start in mid October.

Are the castaways pulling a Prison Break? Scheduling-wise, it looks that way. In a Tuesday-morning conference call, ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson announced that Lost will launch its third season with seven consecuctive new episodes, temporarily cede its time slot to the Taye Diggs midseason thriller Day Break, and then return for an uninterrupted run in January or early February, Variety reports. On your mark, get set... discuss.

Lost - Series 2, Part 1 is coming out on Region 2 on July 17th. I guess the second part along with the complete second season will be available sometime in the end of September!

Wow, Theodore, tell us how you REALLY feel, lol!  I love LOST and can't wait for this DVD set to come out (oy, October, though!).  I could do without the "The Extended Experience" tagline, but otherwise I like how they kept the overall design the same as Season 1, and I like the vibrant orange colour.  The addition of the hatch numbers is cool too, as well as the menus.

(And for the record, I love ALIAS too.  If this show, and LOST, are your definition of garbage, lead me to your dumpster, "dude"!) :D

Looks like season 3 will have already started by the time this dvd set releases. I will have to buy it since I missed quite a few episodes of season 2.

Did any one notice that above Sayid's head there are shadowy figures in the mountains... OTHERS perhaps?

I disagree. Twin Peaks is way better than Lost.  Twin Peaks had resolution and a way better story and better characters. Lost is lost in its own boring storylines.

Best show on TV hands down...anyone who says it's "overrated" is just being ignorant. Not a big fan of the art though...looks like they tried to keep the same theme as the S1 box but failed.

Ok art, but it seems to be the new craz to label a Television season as an extended or uncut edition. What`s up with that?

That cover is looking great, but what is up with "The Extended Experience". The season has been amazing so far, and tonight's episdoe (5/3/06) was amazing. How does Michael do something like that?!?!

Wow, the text on the cover looks amateur photoshop.  I'll go whip up a new cover in 4 minutes.  Puh-lease.

Like someone else said, the reason they have breaks between episodes is for the advertising revenue.  It irritates the viewer some BUT they make a lot more money.  LOST is doing about 16 million for each new episode.  If they get only half of that for a rerun, that's still not bad, and they can still get plenty of advertisers.  I don't know if half is realistic but it's probably close.

Like I said in my first post, I think LOST will go to a three block system next season.  A single shot like Alias or 24 will NOT happen.  Prison Break did a three part this season- they did take two weeks off in October so it wasn't just a Fall half and a Spring half like someone said.  If you do 8 episodes at a crack, people will be ok.  It's the one or two at time that's really annoying.  Plus, it gives the producers a chance to really incorporate big cliffhangers to bring the viewers back for more.

People might take more notice if you threw in a bit of punctuation...

"random"? You haven't watched that many episodes, have you? Or you would know that nothing is random in that series.

No I actually watched tons of episodes because every week I was hoping something would happen that would explain something. But now I am frustrated because, at least for me, I feel like the show is going nowhere.

i realy..realy don't like it.....it is one of the most dull shows ever........won't buy it even if it was for $1.

I loved the color and photo, but you are SO RIGHT about the style and stupid "Extended Experience" tag.  Just keep the cover totally consistent with the first season, Buena Vista!

I don`t know why this has become the phenomenon it is today because in my opinion, it`s really boring and nothing exciting ever happens.

The almighty dollar.  The sooner they can start airing new eps they can rake in that advertising dollar - but because the TV season is longer than how many eps they shoot in a year they are left with holes to fill - and they are filled with repeats....which is why on shows like this they should do it the "24 way" and start in January so they can air uninterupted.

One of today's most overrated television shows.

I really dont understand the US way of running TV shows. It seems completely bizarre to be stopping, starting and taking breaks in the middle of a series run.

I prefer the UK way whereby we may have to wait for a bit but at least it is uninterrupted.

The show is addictively infuriating!! So many questions, so little answers. Always keeps you intrigued. I hope it pays off with a few decent answers eventually.

From what I've read on random movie websites and so forth, when they weren't sure how the show would do, they had it mapped out for 1-2 seasons.  After it was well recieved, they had it mapped out for 4-5 seasons and now JJ has said he has Lost mapped out for 9 seasons.  If season 1 is the first 45 days or so and the rest of the series continues that trend, that's going to be a long time for everyone to "remain the same age" relatively speaking.

As far as Prison Break goes, I do enjoy that show but when it went off the air for four months or so, it drove my up the wall.  They way Fox runs 24 starting in January with no interuptions through out the season would be my prefered viewing schedule with Lost.  I hate having it go for 2 weeks, taking 3 weeks off, airing an episode, then taking more time off.  The show is too addictive to toy with a man's feelings like that

The Season One box was released beginning of September last year, so indeed it's late compared to the previous year.

Continuous Airings` The one show that has gotten it right is 24, and to some extent Prison Break.  Because 24 starts in January, it allows all the episodes to be aired without interruptions.  Also, Prison Break follows a good airing format by showing the 1st half of the season in the fall, then finishing the season in March without interruptions.  I don't think ABC will start Lost in January, so the 24 schedule is out, but they could always follow the Prison Break schedule.

The later release date could be because there are rumors circulating that Lost Season 3 will be broken down into three sections of 8 episodes each.  Everyone's biggest complaint with the show is the lack of continuity when they do two episodes, off for a week, two more, and then three weeks off.  It gets confusing and irritating  So they were thinking starting the show later, in say mid-October, run 8 weeks until mid December.  Pick up again in mid-January until mid March and then take three or four weeks off before the big finish.  I doubt ABC will ever allow LOST to go non-stop but they might agree to a three block format.  That's what this later date says to me.

Ahh, Season 2 starts tonight in the UK! I have been looking forward to it for a while!
