I can't wait to see this season. Wish I didn't have to wait so long.
I'll probably recieve this as a gift. I'm excited to see season 3. Haven't watched since season 2.
What an ending!!!Best show on television(other than HBO series). This is the weakest of the seasons thus far though.Jacob loves Locke.Plenty to watch until this comes out.Watching Lost on DVD is a better viewing experience without all the commercials. You pick up more.

Honest question: If you hate the flashbacks, then how can you like the show?

My friend got me season 2 for my birthday and I'm hooked again. I'll definitely get this. Pissed we have to wait until December though.
Will get the R2 release as I can't wait until December, according to amazon & HMV the R2 release is set for 22nd October 2007.
I dig the artwork. I had a sneaky idea that it might be green. Don't know why, just did. I can't wait to pick this up. Will watch the show to the end.

Well he does.
"Jacob Loves You"---WTF?

(I don't buy into those rumors that the creators / studio wanted Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje off the show. He stated publicly that he did not want to continue for creative and professional reasons.) Eko was an extremely different character when compared to the rest of the islanders, and could have become a much more prophetic figure than the short story that his death forced. If you listen to the commentry for the "23rd psalm" in season 2, it's clear that the producers had grand intentions with Eko's story. Such a shame.
Spoiler Completely agree...I was very disappointed when it happened. Eko was actually my favorite character and I did not like that he just died like that...

Spoiler Perhaps so it wouldn't spoil what comes in the season? After all, if someone picks up the discs having seen season 2, and notices Mr. Eko's not on the cover, his death may be spoiled for them

Nice artwork! better than that for the second season IMO
Inaccurate...

From what I remember, it was only supposed to last for the summer and be neatly tied up in a simple fashion. ABC saw the ratings and pushed to renew if for a second season. The creators very reluctantly continued and contracted the actors for more than one season. I guess they go through a lot of writers, so this series is a major mass compilation.
This is so COMPLETELY INACCURATE I don't know where to begin. Lost was NOT supposed to last for a summer especially since the pilot episodes debuted in SEPTEMBER, not the summer. It was however leaked online as one long episode in the summer which caused buzz to start building.
There was never any reluctance on the creators to renew the contracts, etc on the actors. From the beginning, this was understood to be a show that would run for a longer period of time. There was a lot of speculation at the time where people wondered how the creators could push the concept of being lost on an island past one season, but the creators had always made it clear that it was a longer running serial show.
By the end of season one, they were also clearly stating that they had FIVE SEASONS planned out for the show and no idea where they'd go if they had to go past that. Before the show even aired, JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof spoke about a Lost "bible" which was a written booklet that has the entire mythology of LOST laid out and all the key events.
I've been following this series from before it aired (I downloaded the pilot episode off the net that summer). They also DON'T go through a lot of writers or anything. Several writers came from ALIAS and have stayed. Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof continually write many of the episodes of each season however.
I've never understood people griping about the series not knowing where it was going. If anyone saw up to midway through Season 2, they'd know very, very clearly that the creators know EXACTLY what they're doing. For certain events to happen on Season 2, they had to be set up in Season 1 which they were (ie: Boone finding the plane in S1 and when he says he's from Oceanic Flight 815 he hears what he thinks is an echo...we find out that is not the case midway through S2 in "The Other 48 Days"...also, many other storylines throughout S1 get set up very early on if you rewatch the episodes like the fourth ep S1 setting up the Rose/Bernard thing that culminates in a mid-S2 finish to that storyline!). And especially if you've watched up to Season 3, I would be astonished at anyone who still thought the writers don't know where the show is going. Especially when we now know that the show will have an end date in three sixteen-episode seasons (equivalent to two full seasons which brings the total episodes of LOST to five FULL seasons (three full, 3 shortened 16 ep seasons)
Third season is probably my favorite season so far, followed by one, then two. But all of them are very strong. I'd say Season 1 was the season where they allowed us to get to know the characters, Season 2 was the season where we got all the darker mystery elements, and Season 3 was the adventurous season (where we still got a LOT of answers in the second half). I can't wait to pick this up.
For anyone who has heard bad word about S3 - ignore it. The first couple episodes were a little disappointing as a mini-season, it's true, but once you get to episode 7 and beyond, it starts to pick up steam. Nearly all of the last 12 episodes are stellar.

Thanks Canaryfarmer although to be totally honest I have no idea who The Dharma group or the Others are because I got bored after the first 6 or 7 episodes.
Thanks anyway.

Not horrible, but not great. I dig the "Jacob loves you" on the tree.

There's some artwork posted by a customer on Amazon. It looks like the real artwork and even has "the unexplored experience" on it. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Complete-Season-Matt...

Spoiler The season 3 finale turns the entire notion of flashbacks on its head and will totally blow your mind. I thought most of them in season 3 were very well done and effective to the stories being told around them.
3 of the Best flashbacks in the entire series came around this year:
3. Finding out how Locke got into his wheelchair
2. Showing what happened to Desmond after the Hatch blew-up
and Last but not least (DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT THE FINALE SPOILED)...
Spoiler 1. The flash-forward showing (at least) Jack and Kate having escaped the Island. When Jack was screaming that they never should have left and they have to go back to the island, my asshole became permanently tightened, not to be relieved until the start of the 4th season next year.

I watched Season 1 & 2 religiously. Tivo'ed the first couple of episodes of Season 3 and I heard it was horrible. I'll catch it on DVD since I bought s1 & 2.

Since the other ABC shows have those stupid edition titles, what do you think this one will be?
I think the "Found" Edition, or "Other" Edition, or "LOST" Edition. That last one is so hideously contrived I think they may just use it...
Actually, according to another site, it is going to be "The Unexplored Experience." I guess this is to follow the extended experience of season two.
I am looking forward to this, hopefully best buy will have the extra disc they have had before. I agree with other people that the show lagged in the beginning of the season, but then picked up and ended with a bang. Awesome stuff, can't wait for season 4.

Season 3 is clearly the best one yet. Great storylines, great secrets and - at last - great answers. And the last three minutes of the finale are mind-blowing.
true that, but thats gonna be like in 2011 or 2012
Lost unfortunately lost the plot with its third season, and even the last very good episodes of the season are not enough to counter that.
Shame, Loved the first two seasons.

Blu-ray would be awesome! Amazing show, love it. Oh, as to the delayed release date. This time around they are waiting till mid-season to air. So they are doing what 24 does and run non-stop till summer with no breaks. That's why the set is not coming out till December.
Best. Season Finale. Ever (Not series finale, mind you, that would be Six Feet Under)
However I won't be getting this set because I know they're gonna release the whole thing in some super-fancy (and hopefully extra-filled) repackaging after the series ends...

Aw c**p- December??? *sigh*
Maybe that's a good thing, as the time I *thought* this was gonna be released, I'd also had to pick up Heroes, and Jericho, so maybe this is a good thing, financially.
The first 6 or 8 eps of this past season BLEW, but after the hiatus, hot dog, did this show turn around. Josh Holloway needs an Emmy nomination for the ep where he finally confronts the real Sawyer.

I wish they planned the release for earlier because I missed out on the last half of season 3. It is pain to a fan. I rather have Disney release this in November or October to build sales momentum in time for the holidays.
I tried to like this show and watched about the first half of the first season but just totally lost interest in it.
I too had heard that the writers were getting a bit lost in their own story threads and that the "we're definitely finishing this in X years" issue was because they were losing lots of viewers due to the fact that the storylines just kept seeming to loop around themselves and not actually seem to be heading in a specific direction. The studio felt that if they announced a definite end date - eg: The end will happen at the end of the 3rd season from now - then it would keep people watching.
And can anybody tell me what the hell the polar bear was all about?!?

No cover??? DECEMBER??? I am extremely pissed off now.
I love this show but missed the second half of season 3 because of the time change, I wish they would move it back to 8 PM. December is a long way off but I can wait.
I'm waiting for a complete series set.

The best show on TV.What a finale,I was expecting something else but they really turned this thing on it's head and left you questioning everything. The first season is still the best though.
Great show. Can't wait for next season but damn, December is a long way off.
I really lost interest in the show during the second season. The first season of "Lost" was amazingly taut, well-paced and kept the audience guessing -- with the secrets of the island revealed, the show has lost its spark (pun intended). That said, the third season did pick up steam (but then I didn't see 75% of this season's episodes, only the season finale).
And I thought the finale was predictable in places, but it was good. Still hasn't made me want to invest time in picking up where I left off, though.

The 3rd season was absolutely amazing. Not to mention the season finale. Yon can't praise it enough it was that good:-)

Really? I'd love to read that article because it's strange that ABC would give the largest budget ever for a pilot ($12 million, though it may have lost the record since then) to a show that was meant as a filler. Also, considering the deliberateness with regards to the pacing of the series and the recent announcement of the endpoint in 3 years, I have to cast doubt upon the rumor that the producers are making it up as they go along.
And even if they are, I still find the show to be the most entertaining and involving on network TV. As long as that continues, I'll keep watching.

December ?!? damn, that`s a long wait...
No, it usually came out in September, a week or two before the premiere of the new season. I am sure they are waiting since season four wont start up again until February...
Lame. I hope they bump it up!

I never got into "Lost", who needs other shows than "X-Files" anyway?
What's the point in releasing Season 3 but not 1 or 2 on HD?
Odd man out here:
I don't understand the appeal for this show. I liked the first few episodes from the first season, but after that, I LOST interest. Granted, I am selective with my TV shows as of late (Thurs and Sun nights being my only free nights to actually sit down and relax in front of the TV)

First it's announced for both BD and DVD, now an official press release stating no BD... I think Disney needs to get their act together and release the show on Blu-ray. If any Disney property (outside the realm of animation and their catalogue titles) could sell on BD, Lost would be at the top of the list. Let's hope the execs pull their heads from wherever they are and get the BD release on the calendar.
What a great season! I can't wait to rewatch the entire thing. I understand why they're waiting until December, but as someone who plans on re-watching all 3 seasons before February, this makes for a lot of crunching those last two months - and during the holidays too! Oh well.
the show returns in january/february....thats why the dvd is being released in december....financially its a smart move but as a fan it IS annoying..lol
First few eps were pretty boring, but the season finale was AMAZING. Can't wait to hear the audio commentaries on this one. But what's with the december release date? the last one was early September. C'mon now Disney. Rush this thing out!
Lost is a great show! cant wait for this!
