A glorious romp in silliness - The BD anthology for me.
People who compare any facet of a Michael Bay film to this truly don't have a clear grasp on why Michael Bay is so derided in the film community, they just think we all hate action films with big explosions. Fury Road proves there's a right way to do this kind of film.

It IS overrated. For two films that hit high 90s on Rotten Tomatoes, the reception this and "Inside Out" got bewilders me. There's numerous things that annoyed me about Fury Road.
Stupid names for most of the characters like Rictus Erectus, Toast the Knowing, Immortan Joe, et al. The guy with the fire-spewing electric guitar. Some campy scenes that have little bearing on the film or characters. The climax involving Rictus' demise... straight out of a Michael Bay film with power anthem blaring against a slow-mo shot. Barely any plot whatsoever.
"Fury Road" is an impressive technical achievement, two awesome characters, and a refreshing feminist slant. But one of the best action movies out there? Nope.
You're being sarcastic, right?

The Doof Warrior is another thing to add to 'Gabe's Litmus Test'. If you think he's stupid, we probably aren't going to be on the same page about much in terms of popular movies.

All of the listed things are, for me, part of the charm of the film. The stupid names have been part of the film series since the beginning, frankly. The camp is an essential element of Mad Max going back to the very first villain.

Perhaps, more accurately, a good deal of plot left to the audience to infer which is a nice change of pace from the "HOLD YOUR HAND IN CASE YOU MISS ANYTHING" *cough* Marvel movies *cough*

Absolutely loved this! Blu-ray.com contacted Warner and confirmed that this release will have a Dolby Atmos audio track, which is awesomesauce.
This was great ride that was self aware of what it wanted to achieve. Furiousa was awesome and now I'm wishing I had a great home sound system to watch this movie on.
Still buying on blu ray.

A shame there's no director's commentary given that George Miller did one for Mad Max 2

Best mainstream film of the year so far for me. F**k yes for feminist action movies
Definitely day one purchase for me! This movie was absolutely mind blowing! "Oh what a day! What a lovely day!"
I liked how lived-in and gritty it felt. Also liked how it went back to old-school techniques being done in-camera, but it got too campy in spots. Not much plot either.
Theron's Furiosa was a total badass though. I'd totally watch a follow-up with her and Tom Hardy.
