I actually don't mind these DVDs, but I'll get it on Blu-Ray. I can get that instead of Nick and Norah. Where's Quantum of Solace?
What's the betting the Penguins thing ISN'T on the Blu-ray!
the original was terrible, the sequel exceeded on everything the first one lacked. ill be picking it up the Blu for sure.
It's actually only made $175 million, and there's no way it's going to make another $10 million.

I second to that. But otherwise the sequel was definitely an improvement over the original. I might be picking it up.

Actually worldwide it made over $516,934,000

ill pick up the blu ray. That "Penguins of Madagascar" thing is more than likely gonna be a few episodes of the penguins upcoming series, which i can definitely skip.

It doesn't matter how much it made to me. I still won't be getting this. I don't see why studios use that as a selling point.

I'll pick up the Blu.
Exactly what I thought. Did you know the first Madagascar had a penguin Christmas short and it was featured on the DVD? It wasn't a double pack. I rather have a 2-disc special edition with all new extras not just a short.

Worldwide totals mean nothing to American customers.

HONESTLY guys, this one was actually very good.
I loathed the first one (so excruciatingly bland and unfunny), but this one had me cracking up constantly.
So to all the skeptics:
at LEAST give it a rent. you'll be surprised.

I didn't like the first one much. The penguins were the best part. So I skipped this one. Plus the trailer wasn't exactly amazing.Probably great for kids though.
How much a movie makes anywhere means nothing to me. It would be meaningful if I worked for the studio or had stock in it.

I'm hoping this generates enough interest for a feature length Penguin movie.
WHO SAYS PENGUINS CAN'T FLY!
I nearly lost my soda every time they were on the screen. The movie was pretty good but the Penguins stole the show and I wouldn't mind seeing more of them. I'm actually down with this double pack. Good animation, funny script and very entertaining all around.

A Friday release date? That plus the unnecessary 2 disc packaging irks me. And they can't announce the retail price and other extras a month before it's ship date? Did the baboons take over Dreamworks?
Is there any BIG store (like Target, BestBuy, Circuit City) that usually start selling Friday releases on the tuesday before?
I loved both the Madascar movies. Hoping to pick these up on Blu-ray. Madagascar 2 and Kung-fu Panda were the only 2 animated movies I watched last year. I gave Wall-E a miss cos I'm not much of a Pixar fan. I didn't like Finding Nemo. Yes, my taste is a little wierd that way.
I'll wait for Madagascar 3 and buy the the complete trilogy!
Ahh promotions - where would we be without them?
BD for me...
BD for me...
Ah, and I was starting not to hate you Dreamworks Animation. I thought we'd be friends after "Kung Fu Panda". I guess I can go back to hating you until I give Monsters vs. Aliens a (halfhearted) chance.
I still haven't seen the first one, so I might get both.
im really getting sick of quotes being on the cover on movies.
lemme guess, that penguins movie will only come with the dvd release and the blu-ray will be ignored like they did with Kung Fu Panda even those these extra "movies" are so short it woulda been simpler and smarter to just add them as extras but in hollywood, money takes precendence over common sense so.

Much like Ice Age, Madagascar didn't appeal to me very much. The penguins are overrated, but King Julian did steal the show. I may NetFlix this one just to see if it is better than the first (which I hear it is). Ice Age: The Meltdown was also better than its predecessor.

It depends. I work at one of the places you mentioned (ahem...#1) and we had an unadvertised early release for Kung-Fu Panda (with permission, of course). We didn't receive that message until Thursday night that week, and I believe we put it out Friday night for Saturday morning before its intended release on Sunday. Lest you came in the store, did a double-take and snatched it up that Saturday, you wouldn't have known we put it out early.
I was hoping for an early release for "The Dark Knight," but alas, it wasn't meant to be :-(

lol! i get it! but thanks for the heads-up! i'll keep my eyes open for it...
and I HOPE it happens with this movie! Even more possible since KFP was a Dreamworks release as well...

This is an ad from an industry magazine. They say how much money it made theatrically so video store owners know how many copies to order. Joe Schmoe is not supposed to see this ad.
