I dont think anyone could have imagined this film being such a box office titan. I'm not really into musicals or abba, but I'd like to see what the hype is about.

some films surprise you. whether they may or may not deserve it is another thing. I think this film deserved it. May not been the best effort but it entertained me so it works.
Pitting this release against The Dark Knight is easily one of the wisest decisions made from a studio this year. It was a completely different target audience and it worked flawlessly. I saw this 3 times in the theater and loved every second of it. Streep is incredible and proves she can do ANYTHING. In my top 3 favorite summer movies with Dark Knight and Wall-E. A MUST buy on Blu-ray. Being able to record your own audio commentary is incredible and sounds very cool!
Straight guy here and I absolutely LOVED this movie. Will definetely pick this up along with The Dark Knight. Can't wait till December!
My mom saw this and hated it, and she was the target audience, but I'll rent it for the HD scenery, and a little MST3K-style riffing night.
i thought this movie tried too hard. i loved the stage musical and abba, but not this movie. it didn't have the essence of a true musical like hairspray had. hairspray had beautiful musical transitions, mamma mia! did not.
It was not a good movie by any "standards of film making". It's one of those that's either going to work for you or not. It did for me. I LOVED it.
ehh... I enjoyed this film, but many of the Abba songs were slanted as sex related.
FUN! FUN! FUN! Saw it in theatres 3 times and it was AWESOME everytime! Cannot wait to blast the sound on Blu-Ray!!!
It's already made $142 MILLION DOMESTIC and $499 MILLION WORLDWIDE...that's pretty impressive!

I saw this and was pleasantly surprised. Although I wouldn't call it the best movies ever made. I think that Moviemaniak is kind of right about releasing it with The dark knight. That wasn't the smartest move. But what other film could people see if they didn't want to see TDK? Space chimps? Give me a break. The 2-disc special edition does sound cool.
I think I will ONLY pick this DVD up if my sisters want it. Would perfer to stick with "The Dark Knight," "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "Horton."
I didn't see this, but my mom and dad did and they liked it. I may get it for them for Christmas.
Did you even read my post? I said pitting it against Dark Knight was the wisest, as in, the smartest move by a studio this year. It was a GREAT move, not a stupid one.

Oops my bad. I must need glasses. I thought you said that was the worst choice. Very sorry. Won't happen again.

How about a 3 disc Blu-Ray release?
Just kidding. Quite possibly the worst movie ever made next to the remake pukefest of Hairspray. I know they have to make movies for different demographics but at least they should try to make good(?) movies.

well, im gonna pick this up for sure... sounds nice! and looked nice from the trailers!!!
so definitely a blind buy!
so definitely a blind buy!
I will never see this movie, never.
You know what Thembones, I did not see Wanted, and I think it is a piece of s**t. But you do not see me on the page for that bashing it and saying, "Oh my God it's terrible," etc. So if you have nothing nice to say (and this movie killed Wanted in B.O.), then just keep to yourself. The numbers speak for themselves.
I don't mean to threadc**p, but I truly hated this film. Only because I thought it was so poorly made. Bad directing, bad sets, TERRIBLE cinematography. Which is too bad. I saw the play twice. Once in London, and once in the U.S. and I thought it was a blast. And when I read who would be in the movie, I couldn't wait to see the film version. But it simply did not work as a movie, for me. Most of the actors just hammed up their performances. Including the extras. The choreography was sloppy and uninspired. As I said earlier, some of the scenes were clearly sets. Most likely in Hollywood. WHY? This is supposed to take place in one of the most beautiful places in the world. So many scenes were obviously filmed against a blue screen. In comparison, I thought last year's "Hairspray" was a grand slam. Still, I know people love this film. And I'm so glad others had fun and got something from it. It's been in the UK top 5 at the box-office for 3 solid months. At this rate, it's going to be in the top 3 grossing films of all-time there.
i can not wait
Now, that's a nice cover, my initial thought was that they would put the whole cast on the cover, but they've got some guts putting Amanda Seyfried alone on the cover, well Slip Cover anyway.
Have not seen this, I'm an alright fan of musical I guess, wouldn't be something I go straight for on the first week of release, but when the BD is at a good price, this will be added to my collection.

Cannot wait for this!
I loved this movie, and I'll be getting it on the first day!
Just saw the sing-along edition of the movie last night. That was such fun!

YAY! I adored this movie. In fact, everyone I KNOW adored this movie. I cannot wait to own it.
I Loved this movie! Thanks for the great artwork. Definitely better than the UK version.
SO excited for this, i've been counting down the days until it comes out which will be a while but I still can't wait! Love the cover art too, Amanda was amazing.
Loved this movie. Can't wait to get the 2 Disc DVD.
I loved it. Will buy the 2-Disc version.
Definitely going to be importing this.. the Region Two version is only one disc, and I much prefer the cover with Amanda Seyfried on as opposed to the full cast r2 version.
Have to wait another month, but I'll live.. I'm going to see it for the fifth time at the cinema soon.

Oh god did this BURN. Get it out of my sight. I saw this, Dark Knight, and Wall-E all in the same weekend. If it wasn't for this, I would have said it was the best weekend of the summer.
This movie may have been delayed in Region 1. On amazon its not listed and it October 17th
