This is the original theatrical cut, but it has been filtered to death

So this contains the TC and DC. But didnt they screw up the so-called versions on DVD some time ago, i.e. they werent proper TC/DC? Lets hope they fixed it with this.
I'm not talking about the DC, I'm talking about the AB theatrical version,w hich is very similar to the original theatrical release. I don't do DVD any more!
They are minor agreed but significant enough to make it the definitive version. The scene where Will Graham talks to Jack Crawford how he empathises with Dollarhyde is crucial watching. It's one of the pivotal scenes, oddly cut in the Director's Cut and not in any other cut.
The trouble with the Director's Cut is the extra scenes are noticeably inferior. It has the odd interesting addition however.
The USA MGM DVD is decent and cheap. It's the same master as the Japanese MGM DVD, except it loses the DTS (only DD5.1). Neither have extras.

The differences between the theatrical cut and the version AB put out on DVD as part of their definitive edition aren't that major. There's some missing dialogue at the police station and a couple of additional scenes, but the vast majority of it is the same. Having said that, I do regret not picking up that NTSC MGM DVD when I saw it in Virgin all those years ago, even if it was meant to look like c**p...
cool film...i had the soundtrack on cassette! played it to death. will pass tho, stick with my 2 disc dvd
As long as the "original" theatrical cut is included I don't care. The director's cut adds little but crucially takes the most pivotal scene away. I'd love to know why Mann cut it.
Sadly as MGM seem to be the only ones who own the rights to this cut (MGM USA or MGM Japanese DVDs), I imagine I'll be ignoring this. The MGM theatrical cut has been out on BD since 2009 (in a box set with Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal).
It's getting a separate release next month. I doubt it will have many extras but it's certainly got the best cut of the movie.
p.s - Anchor Bay USA released the same cuts as Optimum in The UK. Workprint (not theatrical cut) and director's cut.

I was wondering the same thing last night and came to the conclusion that it almost certainly will be based on previous efforts.
Now here's the thing, will the 'Bonus' Director's Cut be in standard def, like their Army of Darkness disc?
I also hope that's a sticker.

You'll have to ask the designer.
Is the dark gray around the dude and the title intentional?
