Matrix Collection (US - DVD R1)
We now have even more details along with some early artwork
Title: Matrix Collection
Starring: Keanu Reaves
Released: 7th December 2004
SRP: $79.92
Further details have begun to emerge on the new Matrix Collection which will be arriving in shops from the 7th December. It will be available in two editions. The first of these will be a standard (if you can call ten discs standard!) edition including the three films along with The Animatrix and six-discs of bonus material. This will retail at around $79.92. The second will be a collector's giftset containing the ten-disc edition along with a Neo minibust and an 80-page book with never-before-seen artwork and storyboards. The retail price for this one will be around $129.92. Now onto the discs themselves. Firstly, contrary to earlier reports, no extended cuts will be included. The Wachowski brothers are perfectly happy with the films as they are. There will be two new audio commentaries for each film - one from philosophers Ken Wilber and Cornel West (who analyze the meanings behind the films) and one from three professional critics who hated all three films! Also included will be all the scenes created for the Enter the Matrix video game, a new digital transfer for The Matrix and plenty more besides. Further specs can be found below:

Neo
The Neo model looks rubbish! I'll go for the regular box set. Strange that it doesn't even say something like 'The Matrix Colection' on the box cover.
i agree shane. no statue set for me neither
Hmmm the artwork is very weak indeed. It feels so.. basic? but who cares.
Maybe it will have the 3-D effect like the teaser posters.

think im the only one who hated these movies?
Yeah, it's just you. And about 95% of the world's population. Still doesn't mean you're right though.
I found the first one very average and I hated the rest. The first is really overrated. It's just basically a pop-corn action movie.

love all 3 of them, and now im gonna be spendin the money with a quickness to get it, but will pass on the retarded set withthe cheap case and neo big head bust, so if all of you complain and such and dont wanna get it, good, it means i can take my time getting it and no worries of it selling out!
hmmm....
It's weird. This is the first time that the collectors box that's more expensive, looks so bad. I think the Gift set is really stupid. The statue looks stupid. And that box? It looks like it's gonna break the first minute u open it. I like the other box that's like "The Godfather Collection." Much cooler. Good thing the better box is cheeper. Tottally buying it.
Hopefully they'll change the clear Collectors case.

I would if the W. Bros put some basic thought into the movie. The speech of the East-Indian program calling Dharma, Karma. That just shows the W. Bros were scraping for ideas.
"We put all our ideas into this film"(the first matrix).
-one of the Bros. W(of course paraphrased)

I have the trilogy plus Animatrix, and I think I'll be sticking with that. No amount of extras in the world could make me shell out 80 bucks for films I already have, especially if they aren't new cuts.
Wow if you're a major fan of the movies then this must be something to drool over.
I'm not so I won't be getting it since I like the first and second but couldn't care less right now about the third. The animatrix is a lot of fun though.
Anyways cool set... wish they did something like this for Poltergiest... eh yeah right, but I can always dream.

You shouldn't make assumptions on anyone without any real knowledge of what or who you are talking about. I accept any form of cinema in all forms and genres and have compiled a fairly eclectic and varying DVD collection with my hard earned cash to back that up.
Plus, I would hardly call THE MATRIX films an 'alternative form of cinema'...what a joke of a statement that is.
"...everyone knows, when you make an assumption, you make an ass out of 'u' and 'umption'".
