Well ok, but I bought "Superman 2" on DVD just for the feature on these. Well I guess I'll double dip. But the extras better be outstanding!!!!!!! I think I'll wait for some online reviews. Nice to know that these public domain properites of Warners are getting an upgrade.

not i would have bought these seperately but i have all of them already because of that superman collection from a few years back and if those werent remastered or anything, well they looked pretty damn good.
but my question is, if you're a big enough superman fan to want to own these cartoons, then chances are you already bought that movie collection and have them already right?

Right.
Right again
You betcha.
Though in my case I already had the Fleischer cartoons on the single disc release on Bosko Video before the mega Superman box set came out.
I play these cartoons for my 4 year old son all the time and he loves them! (except for The Japoteurs, I'll explain that one to him when he's older) The animation is gorgeous

You don't play the Japoteurs? Or he doesn't like the episode?
A Blu-Ray release would be good.

I dont have these on DVD, so I am going to get these.
My question is, if it is the 'complete set' of Max Fleischer's Superman, why does it not say it on the DVD itself, and putting the date on there, looks like there will be another volume, too.
Just curious.

Bouncy. Yeah, I own them. I wish WHV would add more features to make it worth my while. Audio commentary would be nice. Ah-well. Maybe the Blu-Ray edition......? Bet not!!!!
Finally, about time. I refused to buy any DVD from Image Entertainment because there was no CLOSED CAPTION. Now, this time... Warner Bros has announced that they will release this and I'm glad there will be CLOSED CAPTION. I'm getting this in April for sure.

I don't play it for him only because of how broadly stereotyped the Japanese characters are in it.
I just think it requires a little bit of explaining about the time in which it was made. I don't want him thinking all Japanese people are bad as this episode kind of suggests.
Many of those old WWII era cartoons are great, but are most certainly products of their time and need to be presented a little more delicately to younger viewers.

I think your being a bit too PC. It wont make a blind bit of difference to how he perceives people when he gets older. Just let him enjoy the cartoons. The broadcasters here have banned/censored certain Tom & Jerry cartoons for similar reasons which is just ridiculous.
Perhaps I am. But it's not like I'm never going to let him see those cartoons, in fact, I think it's important to expose kids to cartoons and movies like that, but when they're old enough to understand.
I'm very much against the banning of a lot of classic films and cartoons as well. I think there is great historical significance in preserving and making these films available.

Are there any more of those Batman and Spider-Man cartoons? And when's the next Superman movie coming out?
Sounds wonderful.
This is great. I love these old cartoons a lot. Stephen Etherton said that if these are the complete cartoons, why doesn't it say that on the box. Well, true, it doesn't say that on the box, but it does say that on the promo material. And if anyone was that into the cartoons, they could easily find that there were only 17 of them. But the box is wrong in that the final few cartoons were made in 1943, not 1942.

True, if you bought the stand alone releases of the 4 disc Superman special edition and Superman II, you got all 17 cartoons. But with this release, if they get scratched or broken, you don't have to re-buy five or six discs that you already have in order to get the cartoons. If you were so inclined, there is a website that lets you watch all 17 cartoons for free online. Just put the word movies in between free and online, (all three words as one word) followed by .com and go to the cartoon section. They can do this because these cartoons are in the public domain.
I forgot. There are 2 letter Os in the word movies. I know it's weird, but that's how it's spelled.

Classy artwork, but I just bought the Christopher Reeve Superman Collection, so... have to pass. I would very much like complete boxsets of the 90's Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons, though, where exactly are those?
This does need a blu-ray job...

I don't know, they play these on Toon Disney Channel and to me the animation doesn't hold up too well. Even for '90s standards. I too was wondering when and if they'd ever release these and now after seeing them on Toon Disney, I'm not sure I'd wanna buy them.
