SRP: Prices TBC
Further Details:
New Line has announced DVD and Blu-ray releases of Menace II Society which stars Tyrin Turner, Anthony Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jada Pinkett-Smith. Each will be available to own from the 8th September. Quote: The place is Watts, but it could be any urban area blighted by guns and poverty. The person is 18-year-old Caine, but he could be any young man in the ’hood. The movie could only be Menace II Society, the bravura, uncompromising look at Caine’s spiral – from missed opportunities to inescapable missteps – into the inner-city cycle of hate and death. The filmmaking duo The Hughes Brothers (Dead Presidents, From Hell) made their feature debut with this urgent instant classic now available in a compelling Extended Director’s Cut. The actors (including Tyrin Turner, Larenz Tate and Jada Pinkett) electrify. The pace sears. And Menace II Society hits with an emotional impact that will leave you stunned.

Have been waiting to get this on DVD but bargain basement UK version didn't look good. BR version (especially Directors Cut) should be awesome!
Can't Wait! I've had the vhs and barebones dvd for years.
I'm not really sure about the cover art, something about it just bothers me. Wish they would have kept it more like the original, just made it look sleeker or soemthing. Anyways, doesn't matter, it's a DIRECTORS CUT!

Only Boyz N The Hood rivals this, in terms of realistically showing the cycle of hopelessness, poverty, and violence in the American inner-city. Will be getting it on Blu.....
WOW what an awful cover LOL its kinda funny actually too. It looks DTV to me this is worse than the new friday cover
I remember back when I used to read Source magazine in the 90's (you know, back when hip hop was still relevant) 2Pac was originally supposed to star in this but got in a fight with the Hughes brothers and they booted him from the film. I can only imagine how different a film it would have been...at any rate, it's a solid depiction as is, but I agree with Cinque, Boyz N The Hood did it better first.
One of my favorite movies as a teenager. I remember it being my absolute favorite for a number of years.
Yeah I remember that too when they gave Pac the role first. Cant wait for the Blu-ray.
Not as good as you remember it being.....horrible cover art.

And ironically speaking of Boyz N The Hood, he was set to be in an early version of the 'follow up' Baby Boy... But then you know.. He 'died'. Now THAT I can't help but imagine how that would have turned out with him in it.

Great movie. I love the new cover. "Break yo self fool!"

That I didn't know, good lookin' out....Singleton must have had the Baby Boy script/idea floating around in his head for quite awhile since it was released nearly 5 years after Pac's death...I have to say, though, I was a little disappointed with Baby Boy, but I did like the nostalgic throwback angle...different characters, different story but yet you could still tell it was another tale from the same "universe" that Boyz N The Hood resides in...would it be fair to call it a pseudo-sequel? Or perhaps it's just a spiritual successor...
