Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced a Blu-ray release of Mimic: The Director's Cut for September 27th. Retail will be around $19.99. Extras will include a Video Prologue with director Guillermo del Toro, an audio commentary with director/co-writer Guillermo Del Toro, featurettes ("Reclaiming Mimic", "A Leap In Evolution – The Creatures of Mimic", "Back Into The Tunnels – Shooting Mimic"), deleted scenes, storyboard animatics, a gag reel, the theatrical trailer, and a digital copy of the film.

Quote: A disease carried by common cockroaches is killing children in Manhattan. In an effort to stop the epidemic, entomologist Susan Tyler (Sorvino) creates a mutant breed of insect that secretes a fluid to kill the roaches. Interesting. I'd like to see the director's cut of this, but given the stories I've heard I doubt it's still anything close to what del Toro wanted.

I actually like this movie. Even if the monsters are just giant roaches, they made them look cool. The cover's cool too. Director's cut, hell yeah!
I really liked the original, so I'm buying this BD
This may be little more than a standard monster flick, but hey, I'll be damned if it isn't a stylish one. I MIGHT buy this, but will definitely rent it.
I never saw the original cut and wasn't aware it was Guillermo del Toro flick. Where have I been? I will definitely have to check this out soon.
Be forewarned: it's Del Toro's least Del Toro-ey work.
I think they said the Director's Cut is what was closer to Guillermo's original script so I think it's interesting they are releasing it. On Blu-Ray only no less. *rolls eyes
Damn that "blu-ray + digital copy" banner ruins the cover IMHO.
