Quote: Based on a short story by the late Philip K. Dick, this science fiction-thriller reflects the writer's familiar preoccupation with themes of concealed identity and mind control. Tom Cruise stars as John Anderton, a Washington, D.C. detective in the year 2054. Anderton works for "Precrime," a special unit of the police department that arrests murderers before they have committed the actual crime. Precrime bases its work on the visions of three psychics or "precogs" whose prophecies of future events are never in error. When Anderton discovers that he has been identified as the future killer of a man he's never met, he is forced to become a fugitive from his own colleagues as he tries to uncover the mystery of the victim-to-be's identity. When he kidnaps Agatha (Samantha Morton), one of the precogs, he begins to formulate a theory about a possible frame-up from within his own department. Directed by Steven Spielberg, who hired a team of futurists to devise the film's numerous technologically advanced gadgets, Minority Report co-stars Colin Farrell, Max von Sydow, and Neal McDonough.

tremendous movie. Awful coverart
Shawn Fitzgerald wrote: Man, that cover sucks. Why can't they use the poster art? It seemed to be okay for the DVD release. Still, I will pick this up. Should look great on BD.
From what I've read, all studios are getting away from using poster art for the BDs.
A far as the film goes on BD, it's going to be a newly 4K remastered print supervised by Speilberg himself. Apparently, it also takes into account the specific color timing used in the film.

Seriously. But then what do we know? We're all just mindless consumers willing to gobble up whatever c**p Corporate America decides to throw our way. And they expect us to love it. I mean, how else can you explain the ceaseless parade of American Pie sequels?

Seems long overdue for the blu-ray treatment, but better late than never. Hopefully the cover will change or at least have a less-ugly slip cover to hide it from sight.

This is exactly why it's worth commenting on bad cover art (for those collector's that care about such things - I know, not everyone does). I have no doubt the studios have their people scouring all the big sites to gauge the consumer's interest and opinion.

I'll still buy it on Blu-ray, but my God, they should have used the DVD artwork!!

Horrendous cover art!
I thought Fox did this?

Exactly what I do my friend, I've already made some for Ghostbusters and Gremlins, and a load more. In my view they are far superior to the official artwork and I will do the same for this release.
Minority Report was re-mastered last year, at 4K resolution using the original negative, under direct supervision of the Poland-born cinematographer Janusz Kaminsk. So this new bluray should look and sound stunning, also its nice to see some new special features plus the old ones ported over. Thats how it should be done all the time.

With the recent bad cover jobs, I'm starting to wonder if I could a get job at their DVD cover art department. But realistically, I'm just gonna make my own and print it off from my printer. This is getting ridiculous.
This is horrible. How hard is it to take the original poster's design and put on a Blu-Ray/DVD cover?

I will concede the bandage poster could be a little bit obscure for general consumer, and I understand the drive to sell the movie on its lead Cruise's star power, but that does not justify such a dreadful, poorly executed cover art, more so when they already had this available to fit their needs:

As other posters have stated, I will be buying this nonetheless, and the case will stay on the shelf, what's important here is audio/video presentation and extra features. But studios keep abusing us, the discriminating consumers, in order to sell their products to a more casual buyer.

Ha ha. It doesn't even look like him anymore.
I'm curious to see how this turns out on Blu-Ray. I seem to remember the original being grainy and sort of blown-out. It's been a long time since I've watched the DVD so maybe I'm just remembering it wrong. Regardless, I hope its a top notch transfer.
With Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan announced, I'm just waiting for the War of the Worlds Region R1 announcement.

Are they kidding us with that cover? I mean, this is a joke, right???
That doesn't even look like Cruise
Who cares if the cover art is bad? I will look at it for 12 seconds before I remove the disc to play it. Afterwards it will be on my shelf and I will only see the spine.
MY EYES!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it most certainly was. I was never crazy about it either, so this isn't too horrifying. Still, if they decided to revise this and put that theatrical poster on the box, that would be lovely.

They just had to change the poster art......!
The cover is pretty meh. I'll pick this up when it's $15 on Amazon.

Buy first day! Bad cover art!
Wow, that cover art and font is a travesty
I dont get why they keep changing the cover art... but I will buy this movie regardless.
At the expense of sounding like a broken record and adding nothing new to the conversation . . . . . egad, that cover art is pretty goshdarn awful.
BUT it's nice to see the abundance of special features (I love Laurent Bouzereau's work) for this great movie, one of Spielberg's more underrated gems. WE NEED MORE SPIELBERG ON BLU-RAY!!!!!

Agreed, could be worst blu-ray artwork for a great movie ever.
worst. boxart. ever.
And I thought "Collateral" had a pitiful artwork! GRRRR
Artwork looks more like "Eagle Eye" artwork from the single disc DVD.

Agreed... but that damn cover art down't make me any easier about double dipping. Especially when the theatrical poster was so minimilist, yet fantastically awesome.

the cover is c**p but the movie is a masterpiece
Who the hell is running things over at Paramount?? It's like they're changing Dreamworks' perfectly fine artwork just because they want to make the film their own. This one makes Collateral look like a Criterion Edition!...Get those lab monkeys out of the design department!!
This is one of the few individual movies I will re-buy on Blu.
Why do they so often ditch perfectly good poster art, and create covers that look like a 6-year-old did them with Photoshop?
That is literally one of the worst covers I've ever seen.
Why the heck didn't they just use this?

It's an interesting concept for the cover, it was just poorly designed and executed. The original DVD art was pretty cool. I don't know why Paramount has been changing their covers for catalog titles.
Cover art aside, I absolutely love this flick. I know what I'm asking for for my birthday now.

I wish they'd use the grey poster with the bandaged eyes. That one was always my favourite. Will be buying this regardless.
Looks like Channing Tatum, er, Tom Cruise is doing the dance move where you alternately throw up sideways peace signs over your eyes.
Use the frickin' poster. My god that is dreadful.
Paramount has been absolutely terrible lately with their cover art.
It does look like someone went a bit overboard with the Botox injections
I don't normally care about such things, but that's a terrible cover.
