The Sergei Bodrov directed film will be available to own from the 14th October, and should retail at around $27.95. The film itself will be presented in widescreen, along with a Mongolian Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. We have no word on extra material at this time. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $35.99.

ah there is a Blu ray release.
Wanted to see this when it was out in theaters, but never got around to my local arthouse in time. Will be grabbing the Blu-Ray.
this title always makes me laugh, in french thats the equivalent of using "retard" as an insult to someone, we called them mongol.

I badly wanted to see this in theaters; I hear it's the first in a trilogy about Genghis Khan's life. Can't wait to see this on Blu as well as the others.
I was disappointed with this one. It wasn't bad by any means, and I enjoyed it to a degree, but I think the film had fundamental script problems, or perhaps it got butchered in the editing room. Either way, there were problems with story logic and the film focused on seemingly unimportant parts, while quickly bypassing parts that would have helped explain the character more. In the end, I never felt I really got to understand Ghengis Kahn, which is really what I was hoping for from the film.
While I wasn't expecting this, those hoping for Braveheart in Mongolia, will be disappointed. There are a couple of battle scenes, but the film focuses more on drama than action. I was fine with that, but felt they focused on the wrong things.

Exactly! They focused on random events that had no real meaning to the creation of Ghengis Khan. But yes, the movie was really good. Like you said, people shouldn't expect the action epic that it was advertised as. I'll def. be buying it, though.

This wasn't in theaters long enough. I missed maybe 4 chances to go see it and then went on vacation. And the only movies I watched on vacation were on TCM
