Quote: Even for a 12-year old, D.J. Walters has a particularly overactive imagination. He is convinced that his haggard and crabby neighbor Horace Nebbercracker, who terrorizes all the neighborhood kids, is responsible for Mrs. Nebbercracker's mysterious disappearance. Any toy that touches Nebbercracker's property promptly disappears, swallowed up by the cavernous house in which Horace lives. D.J. has seen it with his own eyes! But no one believes him, not even his best friend, Chowder. What everyone does not know is D.J. is not imagining things. Everything he's seen is absolutely true and it's about to get much worse than anything D.J could have imagined.

I agree with Rebel-Scum on this. Not a fan of 3D.
3D=Gimmick
Good movie, but I'm nowhere near ready to jump on the 3D bandwagon. The current 2D Blu-ray version is good enough for me.
Wait... this movie is in 3D? I couldn't tell.

I'm not sure if you were bashing or supporting the 3-D set up, but it is the most amazing home viewing experience I've ever had. I got the 3-D set up about a month ago and it is mind-blowing. The 3-D effects TOP the theatrical 3-D effects. Furthermore, the picture quality is so crisp and lively, it also tops the theatrical picture quality. I'm telling you, it is nothing short of awesome. I thought it would be a cheap gimmick, but it turned out to be phenomenal.
I'm glad you enjoy it. Sounds like you have a sweet home setup. Personally though, 3D in the theaters does absolutely nothing for me, so I find it difficult to be enthusiastic about it in the home environment. Whenever I remember movies in my head, its always the film itself that sticks. My recollection of it, and my fondness or distaste for it, has no connection to the 3D at all. That's just me, but I understand that for a lot of people the presentation and experience surrounding the movie is a big deal.
I can see your point of view. And I do agree that the film IS what counts, but sometimes the 3D is just the icing on the cake (i.e. Avatar).

Big fan of this movie, watch it every year around halloween, but I don't envision buying this new set. I'm fine with the DVD I got on black friday for 5 bucks.
