Quote: When Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) is unexpectedly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall and is instantly labeled a “Monster” named Ginormica. The military jumps into action, and she is captured by General W.R. Monger (Kiefer Sutherland) and held in a secret government compound filled with other “monsters” like herself. This ragtag group consists of the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach P.H.D. (Hugh Laurie); the macho half-ape-half-fish The Missing Link (Will Arnett); the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B. (Seth Rogen); and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement time is cut short however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to save the world from imminent destruction.

This one will be a rent for me. I like a good number of Dreamworks animated pictures, but they just don't hold a candle to anything Pixar puts out and they little replay value.

The weakest one in DreamWorks animation titles. Very predictable unoriginal story. What made it shine was the nice 3D effect.
well least the blu-ray didnt get shortchanged with the new "adventure" like Kung Fu Panda did with theirs.
Didn't get to see this in theaters. Excited about Bob's Big Break.
I loved this movie. A definite blu-ray purchase for me.
Just so everyone's clear, Monsters vs. Aliens is NOT in 3D. It only has the 2D viewing option. The short (B.O.B.'s Big Break) IS in both 2D and 3D.
I think one eyed BOB is rather wasting his time there with his 3D specs.
Correct me if I'm incorrect but two eyes would seem to be the minimum for stereoscopic viweing. Or to paraphrase the late Peter Cook, "that it is in the eye division that you are difficient, to the tune of one".

At first I agreed....but then I remembered Flushed Away. I think that one has to get the bottom rung on the Dreamworks Animation ladder...the only titles that can compete with anything from Pixar are the first Shrek and Over the Hedge.

From comments I read the 3D version of My Bloody Valentine on BD wasn't any good at all, put me off buying it in fact. If they can't produce a proper 3D experience for the home cinema they are right not to bother, until they can make it worthwhile.
On M.V.A, it looked fun from what little I've seen, might be worth a blind buy when the price comes down.

Hey, I really liked Flushed Away! And so does my 4 year old -- she keeps asking to watch "Mouse in the Toilet" over and over again. Over the Hedge on the other hand ... eh ... to each their own, though, right?

I would say 'Shark Tale' is the weakest entry in the Dreamworks film library. This film ranks just above it...barely.
I dunno, the previews for this made it look hilarious. I was sorely disappointed with it.

Yes, I totally agree ... Shark Tale was stinky.

I would actually say "Shrek" or "Kung Fu Panda," but yet again, "Monsters vs. Aliens" didn't have any match to "Up."
Oh yeah! And one question. Where is "Up?" When it that one coming out? I personally would rather get that movie instead.

Might rent this one.
I think that they could have a good working 3D version if they use the same technology used in the 3D super bowl ad. At least it would work on the blu-ray. I watched that trailer on my HDTV with the 3D glasses from a CVS, and the 3D was easily the best I've seen, excluding anything in a theater.
A++? Is film criticism eBay now?
Monsters VS Robot more like - The Aliens barely played a part. And that lead alien was painfully obvious, like someone sat down with the task to draw the most cliched alien they could and Dreamworks went with the first design.
Susan was awesome but this movie was a massive disapointment. Much like most of the big hitters this year.

Question. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but when is "Up" coming out?

Its all cool
But please understand that DreamWorks and Disney Pixar have nothing to do with one another. UP will not come to Blu-ray any time soon. It will take its time, by December or early January we will see some release dates.

I understand. My guess is it may come out in November. Sorry, I just happen to like "Up" more than "Monsters vs. Aliens."

I loved this movie. 2-disc for me!
Yeah I read about that this will be the case recently. Highly disappointed.
They should have included the 3D version of the movie....
OMG! This movie sucks like c**p.
