More Universal (US - DVD R1)
A date for Cloak & Dagger, The Forbin Project and several more
Title: More Universal
Starring: N/A (Various)
Released: 23rd November 2004
SRP: $9.99 Each
Universal has now set an official date for the first time releases of Cloak & Dagger, Colossus: The Forbin Project, Commandments, The Cure, Little Miss Marker (1980), Missing, Splitting Heirs and Sweet Liberty. Private School will no longer be available as part of this collection - no reason has been given. The rest of the titles will form part of Universal's November 2004 Studio Selections, with each being available from the 23rd November this year. The retail prices should be set at around $9.99 a piece. I'm afraid we have no further details on these titles yet, although it's safe to say that these will mostly be barebones discs.

But look at the cover for Commandments! "Thous shalt not miss the COMMANDMENTS!"
Please...(throws up)...

As long as "Missing" is two things, I will be happy.
1) It better be widescreen.
2) It better be the original theatrical cut. I bought the VHS tape back in the mid to late '80s and it was a heavily edited TV version. I knew I was in trouble right off the bat when the opening text, narrated by Jack Lemmon, was removed.

Im guessing that music rights have stopped Private School..Lots of 80s music ...Oh and i hope to god Cloak & Dagger is Widescreen ...That cover art worries me
deserves more...
Missing, starring Jack Lemmon about a father who goes to a foreign country to search for his son who is a journalist deserves much more. I would be very willing to buy a thirty dollar criterion DVD.
Sorry
Universal is no longer releasing Private School as part of this collection I'm afraid. No reason has been given...
I'll expect these to hit the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart soon.
Now if we can get!!!!!!!
Moving Violations on DVD I'll be a happy man!!!!!!!
Can't wait for Private School and Cloak & Dagger

WS vs. FS
I work at Suncoast and at my store Mean Girls FS outsold WS 2 to 1. Passion of the Christ was about 50/50. I don't think people in general have wisened up to WS, but the Star Wars fans aren't DVD newbies...so they go for the good stuff.
I understand that the widescreen version of the Star Wars Trilogy is out-selling the fullscreen version at Walmart of all places! People are starting to wise up and are realizing the virtues of OAR or as I like to call it, "wisescreen." So why the hell are the studios still modifying some of these releases?
Unfortunately it sounds like Colossus: The Forbin Project will be a full screen release.

Private School looks positively C-grade...
Sweet Liberty with Allan Alda is good. It's about a movie being made about a American Revolutionary War battle in which the extras decide to revolt against the film-maker for not faithfullu re-inacting the battle. So during the battle, the extras, when they're supposed to get shot, they say, "If you don't feel shot, don't fall down." It's a great line and point in the movie.
Splitting Heirs was actually pretty funny, not worth buying but pretty funny none-the-less.
the cure is good

Widescreen?
I just hope Cloak and Dagger is in Widescreen
YES!!!
So what if I have this purchased-from-Suncoast-on-VHS seven years ago already? This was my favorite movie of the '80s, bar none, and I *can't* wait to pick this one up!
Colossus!! Holy sh*t!!!
Damn, it's great to see Colossus: The Forbin Project coming out on DVD.
After seeing it on Bravo UK in a gorgeous 2.40:1 print, we can only hope that quality materials have been utilised to make the best & most depressing revenge-by-technology movie of the 70's come alive again.
Oh, and yes, it's even better than a cybernetic Robert Vaughn raping Julie Christie in Demon Seed.

MISSING WITH JACK LEMMON IS FINALLY COMING!!!!!!!!!!! THAT FILM IS UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent!! Cloak & Dagger has been at the top of my want list forever. I can't wait i just hope it is not a butchered release.
At last...EXPLORERS, D.A.R.Y.L. and now CLOAK & DAGGER...the 80s pre-teen trifecta is now complete. I guess someone over at Universal woke up and decided to release this great, fun 80s film.
Good news about COLOSSUS too, fairly good movie, I try to catch it whenever it is on AMC or TMC now i can just pick it up and watch it whenever.

Don't forget Henry Thomas who played Elliot in E.T. Which made me wonder, in all the films that he starred in in the 80s, how come he always played a kid who came from a single parent family, or who's parents had died?
Finally
Finally, Jack Flack, the 6 fingered man, classic Atari games and of course Dabney Colemans moustache
I always loved Cloak & Dagger, and looking forward to this release as my vhs copy is getting a little tattered.
